Emilia saw the intense fight between her master, Lawrence, and the mercenary, Helios. She failed to move, or her body refuses to as if her instincts told her that even the slightest movement would cause her demise. She saw the other mercenaries staring blankly at the fight between Helios and Lawrence. They looked like they were having fun, but Emilia saw how life-threatening it was to intervene.
She trusted her master, and at that point, all she wanted to do was rely on him. After seeing the bloodshed caused by the assailants, she feared hers would vanquish along with those who lost theirs. At that moment, her guilt expanded. She felt more than useless. I'm relying on a child to protect those who still lived. How much more shameful can I become? She thought.
But that's not what I should focus on right now. Whether or not I am useless, I should be planning and trying to figure out a way to assist his highness. But by doing so, I must stay hidden and prepared. Adding onto her thoughts, she declared. Her hopelessness faded into a dim light that she used to cling to for hope.
She was far from the manor but nearer to the roundabout. She hid between trees but not where the other mercenaries stood and spectated. She was far from them, even further than the roundabout and manor. But her instincts told her that those mercenaries are not ordinary. She knew they had far more advanced senses, so any wrong movement would cause her to reveal her location.
As of the moment, it seems the two people in battle were unconscious. Emilia saw some of the mercenaries stood from where they sat - in the trees - which made her warier. Her body felt as if, at any minute, she would collapse. Thankfully, due to excessive experiences that accelerate her heartbeat randomly - specifically events done by Lawrence's unpredictable abilities - she can manage her heartbeat in seconds.
She reclaimed her posture and scouted the movements of the hiding mercenaries. Wary of any sight, she purposely used only a portion of her head - right eye - to use for seeing the mercenaries. (Basically, she was taking a peek with her right eye behind a tree where she's hiding.) She counted five visible pursuers.
Thanks to her farsightedness, she was able to see things clearly, even with just one eye. Then her sight wandered to Lawrence and Helios. Just a moment ago, Emilia saw Helios sighing and sitting down before seemingly falling unconscious. He had no hood on, so Emilia saw his face. A moment afterward, a sudden branch sounded a few meters from where Emilia was, thus, frightening herself.
"Who goes there!" in a minimal, controlled voice, she called out.
"Ms. Emilia!" a servant called, almost a plea.
Emilia's eyes immediately landed on the calling servant. Her face filled with relief. "Jordan?" she called out.
"Ms. Emilia..." he whimpered, tears starting to flow down his cheeks.
"Shh..." Emilia gently ordered. "Hush, dear Jordan," she added. "you're going to be alright, okay? Just stay there and be quiet-"
Before she could answer, a man in a cloak appeared beside her. Almost giving her a heart attack, Emilia screamed to her highest, catching the attention of those mercenaries on the other side of the roundabout. She continued to squeal, closing her eyes and randomly punching. For a minute, she continued, then tiring herself. Panting.
"Finished?" the cloaked man asked.
Emilia's legs trembled, then failed. She fell onto the ground, hopelessly staring at the man. He sighed at Emilia and bent down to level her.
"We've made a mistake barging into this estate," he paused. "I would like to apologize."
"A-apologize?" Emilia asked, dumbfounded.
