James is sitting on a log from a tree that looks like an oak. He just finished listening to Cortana's explanations for all of his questions, besides a few. James is thinking, so it all seems pretty straightforward. Now, this is less of a game and more of a life with magic. All of my questions came down to magic being a power that people use magic to alter the world around them or change the laws of the world. That's why this system is around; it keeps the world from becoming broken and provides rules for a world that would be lawless.
When I tried to ask her about the origin of magic, she said she did not know because her level was only LV 1. I then asked what she is. She simply told me she was my admin. Admins, or fairies, as people call them here, are extremely rare. They govern certain things in this world. One is said to manage a den of dragons. Let's not meet them, please, or the admin. I shook my head and sighed, not for the first time during this exchange. As for everything else, GOD was involved; my inventory, stats, and abilities were translated or merged to fit better in Giandrea. Well, thank you once again.
As for the small details, they were all explained; my skills are from my past life, as for archery and riding that were given to me for driving and shooting weapons. The rest are from doing them in my past life. Abilities are different. Most are from GOD, while others are from my life as well. All but one, anyway. My lucky ability was the only one from my past life. I was pretty lucky thinking back. My books teach me what subjects they are about other than books on learning and understanding. Anything that does not fall into the other books falls into the other two. I was betrayed when I pulled out the book of botany to find the name of the tree I was sitting on. The book was only a hundred pages or so and completely blank.
Cortana explained that all I have to do is think of the name of the tree I want to read about, and all relevant info will appear. Here is my problem, I don't know what they are called, so how am I supposed to look it up? Before I could say anything, Cortana, seeing my struggle, said. "James, please look at the tree and think of appraisal." I sat there feeling useless. How could I forget? I have that skill! I stand up and look intensely at the Log, using my mind to call out appraisal. Suddenly, a small window popped open. I smiled, "Yes, I'm the best," only to realize that this was a simple feat and looked away. It's the small things I tell myself to justify my actions. When I looked at the screen, all it said was Grand wood, a Grand tree that fell and is now basically just wood used in construction because of its strength. It is the most common type of wood in Giandra.
I let my smile drop. Well, that was Dull. I looked at Cortana, who still had the same soft smile when I saw her for the first time. Yeah, I'm better off not saying anything. My ego can only take so much damage. I mean, what did I expect? Sure, I got the name and even a description, but now I'm holding a book that is no longer useful. I should try it anyway, thinking about the Grand Tree while reading the book. Sure enough, the words grand tree popped onto the book, and then the words next to it popped up just like it was loading the information on a tablet or phone. Reading the information in the book,
Grand Tree: Grand trees are said to live forever. However, instead of continuing to grow, they stop after about 200 feet of growth. Then, after every year, they start to condense the fibers in the wood to become harder. The longest-living Grand tree that was successfully cut down was said to be over 800 years old. It was cut down by Ivor Cutless.
Who, on his journey to becoming a master swordsman, wanted the hardest and heaviest practice sword to use. It took him exactly 364 days to cut the tree down. Legend says the only reason it did not take another day to make a full year is that Ivor shouted out, "This is Silly," and used one of his sword skills to cut it down.
No one knows why he did not do that before, but some heard him say, "I don't have any axe skills." James stopped reading, saying, "What useless fact was that?" Shaking his head, he started to skim, finding out more information that he would never use, or so he thought. Finally, the last few pages discuss the practical use and application of wood and how to grow and harvest it. I closed the book and looked around, noticing it was most likely around noon, looking at the sun between the tall forest. I could use some food and water soon. Well, let me equip my gear first. James started taking out all the gear and equipment he would wear. While Cortana flies around slowly, watching James. Looking at the gear in front of him, James began to undress, and he reached for his boots to untie. He looked around again. Should I do this here? I don't hear or see anything.
Then Cortana slowly floated into his view. Well, she is going to be with me for the time being. I guess it's okay to strip down. I'm just going down to my underwear. Would she care? I could just ask, but I can already picture her response making a joke. I would say, "What's popping"? She would respond with, "Don't mind me just watching". Laughing to himself, asking anyway just to see, James asks while taking his boots off, "What's popping" Cortana looks back with a smile. "Nothing, just observing," James sighed close enough.
