Chapter 1 - Zhangsun Shan

As the wind blew softly and the grasses swayed in its direction. There were a few boys who were wrestling on the field, they were sweating profusely but the fight wasnt so rough that anyone was bleeding, they were all naked except for a white cloth which covered them from their waist to their knees. The boys fought each other in versus matches until the sun began setting.

The boys weren't the only ones in the area, they were all accompanied by various adults male and females alike, they were all silent and watched the boys wrestle each other. But there was a man who stood atop the rest and he stood directly behind the crowd.

He had long golden hair which passed down his shoulders, white crystal eyes and he held a heavy sword about 20 inches long and nine inches wide, he held it with one arm which he placed behind his back, the blade of the weapon he held was bizarre as other men in black silky robes too held weapons mostly long sword but their blade was a silver color, the golden-haired man's sword was bright red and it had a red hilt too, the only reason the hilt could be told from observation was the fact that it was shaped like one.

"The new warriors are showing promise" he smiles to himself.

The boys were presently taking part in an ancient ritual called Xentuo.

It was a ritual where all the boys from age 12 - 18 fought each other to decide who to become the next warrior.

The one who came atop was chosen as a warrior which was the greatest honor that could ever be bestowed, the ones who failed were tasked to work inferior jobs such as medicine, trading, farming, and fishing, they were seen as failures without enough masculinity.

Out of all the boys who fought, each showed great strength and courage but one stood atop the rest, he had white hair which reached past his neck and to his shoulders, he grinned merrily and wore a confident look; the one which showed like he was having a playful fight and not one which showed that he was involved in the most intense ritual which was going to determine the fate of his life.

"AHHRRRGGGHHHHHH" his opponent screams as he charges towards him, his opponent's scalp was completely bald, like the rest of them, he was Chinese.

The white-haired kid expecting that quickly bends down just while the one charging had gotten to a few inches from his position, hoisting himself up, he lands a punch directly at his genitals.

POOOWWWWW!!!!!.

Most of the men and women who were watching had tried to keep up a straight face but on watching a poor kid get hit on the balls, their face all turned in pity cause the kid who was hit was down on the ground, holding his tummy and rolling on the ground, the pain was simply too much for him to bear.

"Take a hike and join the fishermen, that's where you belong," the white-haired kid says in his direction

"You charge blindly without reasoning what your opponent has in store, you only focus on your attacks but treat the opponent as if he is void of reasoning, you are easily taunted, if you were on the battlefield, you would last about the amount of time your father does while cavorting your mother" The white-haired kid ends what he was saying with a demeaning grin

"About three seconds."

There were about eighteen groups of boys each fighting one on one, the white-haired kid was the first to prevail over his opponent, looking over at the remaining seventeen groups who were fighting for nearly an hour after he had won.

He got annoyed as he went after them, moving over to the first group, he propels himself in the air, he hits both of them on the right side of their head a little above the ear, the two immediately fall into a deep state of unconsciousness.

The remaining sixteen groups which were fighting instantly came to a halt as they all turned at him, cause the two he had knocked down were both sixteen years of age, they were incredulously tall and muscular, they were also so strong that they had once fought the head warrior together, though they eventually lost the fight was tough.

Everyone had amazed looks as they all looked upon the kid, he looked so young and was so short, he kept smiling cheekily, apparently, this battle meant little or nothing to him, he had no blood on him, his skin looked as if he had just dried himself from a shower, there was no pointer that he had just been in a fight.

The white-haired kid smiled as he looked around, apparently, he has everyone's attention focused on him.

"The human body is sorely dependent on the head" the boy began with a confident and a pose as if he was speaking to his lower subjects.

"As we can see, the shape of our body is different in each part; the hands, legs, chest and the head, it's as a result of what's presently inside, each part is important but the most crucial is the head..." he ends touching the top left side of his head lightly, before moving over to touch the left side of his chest

"...And the chest, whatever resides in those two places is responsible for us being able to act the way we do, but what's more fascinating is the head, it controls the entire movement of the body even the chest meaning that if some parts of the organ residing in the hearts are altered, I can manipulate the body into doing what I want; putting it to an unconscious state, causing hallucinations and so much more" the white-haired kid ends with an overconfident grin as he points over to the two boys he had knocked off.

"When it comes to physicals, I don't stand a chance against these two as they are stronger, faster and have greater stamina than I, that's why I resorted to the way weak animals fight their predators" the white-haired kid ends as he taps his head lightly

"I use my brain."

"Brain," a masculine deep voice says aloud, the voice was so domineering that it brought fear on the faces of some, everyone instantly turned to look at the one who owned the voice, it was the head warrior; the leader of the entire sect which the boys fighting were trying to get initiated to.

"Captain Rui Hongcha" many of them say aloud as they bowed their head even while he was within the crowd, many hadn't noticed him even though he was so tall about 7'2 in height.

"You said brain, what is that?" Rui Hongcha asks him.

"It's what I have decided to call the organ residing in the head" the white-haired kid smiles at him.

"You are the first warrior to smile in my presence, you must have a lot of confidence."

"Fear is only exhibited when I am dealing with someone of my caliber or higher, everyone around me are simpletons, that's why I can't help but just laugh and smile" he ends.

Rui Hongcha looks at the kid, his face instantly squeezed out as he burst into laughter.

The white-haired kid looked at him, his facial expression was entirely blank.

Everyone who was around had annoyed looks on their faces, how dare a small kid insult all of them so confidently, just who did he think he is.

"You pest," the white-haired kid says still maintaining a blank expression

"Who gave you permission to smile talk less laugh in my presence."

"Just because you defeated two top veterans doesn't give you any right to think you are better than others," Rui Hongcha says as he swipes his sword, stretching it to his full length and causing massive shockwaves to spread everywhere, the shockwaves caused some plants to be uprooted from the ground, caused some of the boys on the field to fly away cutting off even their skin, the men and women too also had to shield their faces from the waves.

The white-haired kid tried his best to maintain his footing, though he didn't let that change his facial expression, he still kept his confidence grin on, soon the waves stopped.

"I see you are done with your unnecessary demonstrations" the white-haired kid smiles at him

"In response to what you said, a god does not need actions to prove to mortals his worth, it's just already a known fact" the white-haired kid ends as he touches his chest

"Even the gods in our tales die, they haven't yet attained true immortality but I, Zhangsun Shan shall surpass even gods by attaining true immortality."

Pointing his massive weapon at him; Rui Hongcha says

"Zhangsun Shan, that name, I have heard about it so much so it is you, the one who's responsible for stirring up fights and riots amongst your peers, you have beaten up some of my finest warriors because of slight issues, I have heard of your malevolent acts but since I'm always busy trying to keep this sect in order, I have had no time to reprimand you for your actions but seems today is yours of reckoning."

Zhangsun Shan looked at him, he was barely 4'5, so the man seemed like a giant in comparison to him.

Many people looked over at the two duos, some warriors showed visible joy on their faces, they were happy that Zhangsun Shan was finally going to get what is coming to him.

Zhangsun Shan let out a haughty grin as he looked over at a black-haired man about 5'8 in height amongst the crowd, a small boy stood close to him, the boy was tugging on his cloth. He wore ancient masculine white robes same as most of the people in the party except the colors and designs of their dresses varied.

The others who were present there were dressed in black silky robes excluding Rui Hongcha who wore a red silky robe.

Silk was a very expensive material in the kingdom and it was only worn by warriors who people felt were the most respectable.

"Doctor Lee Yu" Zhangsun Shan said to him, the man held the child who was his more closely.

"What?" He asks.

"Are you tending to any patients at the moment?"

"No"

"Good" Zhangsun Shan smiles as he points over to Rui Hongcha

"I suggest you prepare yourself for your most tedious work yet, by the time I am done with this meathead, he will be lying on a six-foot-long bed for months, I also suggest you cut off his head, his brain isn't even functional as his body can't fit in the hospital bed, so the invalids need to be out."

Rui Hongcha couldn't help but smile, the confidence of this kid was unparalleled, he had never seen anyone so full of himself in his presence, usually, people were always trembling, even the monsters he fought.

"Should we begin?" he asks.

"Quiet" Zhangsun Shan tells him

"Mortals do not speak in the presence of a god."

"Well, then," Rui Hongcha says crouching his back

"This mortal won't hold back, even if you are a little kid, there are cultures set down in this village, one which must be imbibed by all as no human is above if no matter the age or accomplishments; one of them includes respecting your elders."

"How many times do I have to make this clear, I am no human, and even the word god is far too insignificant to describe what I shall become, I am above all" Zhangsun Shan ends with his most haughty grin.

"Enough talk, time for correction," Rui Hongcha says as he tries to jump from his position but he realized he was stuck.

"What's happening, why can't I move?" He asks himself.

"Ever since I could understand my environment about three years ago..." Zhangsun Shan begins walking towards him majestically.

Everyone was in awe as they didn't understand why the head leader couldn't move.

"... I first noticed this ritual is held every year and you are always at the same spot, I wanted to put you in your place seeing as you don't pay due homage to me, I mixed up some of the sap from a few trees and other ingredients that I found creating an adhesive, a very strong one, I knew you'd stand there but there was a probability someone else would have stepped on it thereby ruining your present, I put some under your shoes when I snuck in your room overnight, you deem yourself a warrior, while the other warriors cavorted, you were always training, the adhesive I created is most effective when joined again with itself meaning if any other object came in contact with it, it would be nearly useless" Zhangsun Shan ends as he now stood a few inches away from his direction.

"You are within my attack range, it doesn't matter what sort of plan you worked up, I can still decimate you from here," Rui Hongcha tells him.

"You are not very bright," Zhangsun Shan says shaking his head pitifully

"The drink you drank last night when you returned from training, didn't you notice the change of taste, I had put some things in the drink, I also snuck into the medical huts here and watched the doctors make sedatives and all, I whipped up something of my initiative and put it in your drink, it was easy to know that you'd drink as you were always the only one who drank at this events and a personal cup was always prepared for you, right now, you should be feeling all wobbly, you shouldn't have much control over your body."

As he said, the man's sword drops to the ground.

CLAAANNNNG!!!!

before his entire body follows suit causing him to fall to his knees breathing heavily, he tried to move his body but he couldn't, he felt so out of control, he could feel his body trembling and vibrating beyond control.

"You are now on your knees, a befitting position for a mortal in the presence of one such as dignified as me" Zhangsun Shan smiles.

Many warriors tried to move towards Zhangsun but they each collapsed to the ground.

"I am surprised you were able to even make it here, you soldiers loved to drink booze so I had the bartender put a lot of what I whipped up in it for you last night, it's amazing how threatening someone that you'd kill his daughter can cause him to give in to your every order."

All the boys, the men, and the women who were present were all amazed.

Just who was this kid.

"ZHANGSUN, ZHANGSUN, ZHANGSUN" came a feminine voice shouting at the top of her lungs, everyone turns to look in the direction of the voice, it was a woman in tattered attire, her cloth was dirty, the robe she wore was plain but she was a beautiful woman, she wore cheap slippers, everyone who was at the event was regarded as a high class yet what was a peasant doing in their midst.

"Zhangsun Shan, you problem child" the woman wails aloud

"You are just ten years old, why are you here, why must you cause problem after problem, can't you just be like every other ten years old" the woman cries out as she looked over at the unconscious soldiers and the dignified Rui Hongcha kneeling on the ground.

She just couldn't stop crying.

Everyone who was there was amazed, a ten-year-old boy did all this, they all turned back to Zhangsun Shan.

He was no longer smiling, for once, he did appear annoyed.
