"HEY! GET BACK HERE!" I laughed, "can you like not to steal my stuff, that would be great sweetheart." I smirked. It's been a month now and I guess I've been doing okay. I mean there's a rumour that I'm dating Julian but I don't care, they can think what they want.
"Ha, what would I do with a pair of woman size 7 soccer cleats?" He commented. He's right, what would he do he can barely do a stepover without tripping over his own 2 feet. "Ok so maybe soccers not your strongest skill, there has to be one sport your at least...decent? at." "oh what's this? Are you complimenting me?" This dude is mocking me? "Nope, never mind you suck at everything you do. Stop being so narcissistic" I huffed, jeez this guy, why did I even become friends with him in the first place? He's so full cocky and arrogant.
"I'm sorry, how about we decide what we're going to be for Halloween?" he said as he dropped down onto the couch. He's right Halloween is coming up soon. This is gonna be my first Halloween without my brothers. "Wait doesn't Thanksgiving come first" he suddenly asked. "No, you dummy Thanksgiving is on the fourth Thursday of November."
" No, it's on the second Monday in October which is next week."
"This is the States I don't know where you grew up but Thanksgiving is after Halloween."
"wait. so Americans celebrate thanksgiving later than Canadians? My life has been a lie this whole time..." He said as he had a look on his face that kind of looked like a 3-year-old trying to figure out their lefts and rights. He's kind of cute with that confused look on his face, I've never noticed how his hair perfectly caresses his face. "anyways are we going to figure out our costumes?" I snapped out of my trance, "y-yea, or I might just stay home and hand out candy."
"Where's the fun in that? It's like the only time of the year that all you have to do to get candy is dress up, knock on people's doors, and say trick or treat. Like why pay $2.49 for a kit kat bar when you can get like 15 for free?" He has a point. It's not that I don't want to go, it's just I'd prefer to just stay home and watch a movie or something this year. "yea but after Halloween, all candy goes on sale. And I prefer Twix. Besides what are you 6?"
"Besides the point, come on your always making me play sports with you, and now that I willingly agree to do something other than lounge around you deny me." He then hit me with his attempt at puppy eyes. But I have to agree it was pretty cute, I mean even my brothers can't do such good puppy dog eyes. "Ugh fine but you owe me."
"fine how about this, if I can show you a good time trick or treating you have to obey me for a day. And if I can't I have to obey you for a day?" Did he seriously just challenge me, "heh prepare to lose"
"I wouldn't be too sure buttercup," he smirked.
"Whatever you say P-R-I-N-C-E-S-S" I laughed, "don't call me that." He groaned, he hated it when I called him that.
It all started when I went over to his house after school because Mrs. Ramsky assigned us a partner project, where we had to see if we could change the Rate of a Chemical Reaction by Changing the Particle Size of the Reactants? Everything was pretty normal, we set up in the living room we started and before we knew it, it was already dinner time. His mother invited me to stay for dinner. My dad was working late and we still had a bit of homework left so I accepted.
"Julie, can you pass the salt?" Julian's mother asked I choked on my food hearing those words. "Julie?" I coughed and tried to bite back a laugh.
"MOM I told you not to call me that, at least not in front of other people " he huffed somewhat frustrated. "Why sweetheart? I don't get what you're so embarrassed about?" his mom seemed genuinely curious
"Yeah Julie, it's a very nice name." I laughed "See? even Lauren thinks so. Lauren, I have to tell you, sweetheart, even though Julie seems tough on the outside he's a giant teddy bear." Julian's mom gushed "when he was little he used to dress up in my dresses and prance around the house saying 'Bow to Princess Julie' It was the most adorable thing ever, I have a video."
"MOM, don't tell her such things" Julian blushed a scarlet shade of red spread across her face. "Here let me find the video..." "MOM please put. the. phone. down."
"No no, I want to see this," I knew exactly how to distract him, "please I'm very interested in you right now," I said hoping it would work and it did, being his narcissistic self he started talking about himself. "oh why thank you, how sweet of you to say..."
"here you go Lauren dear" his mother whispered to me, I watched it biting my lip but when I got a better look at his face. I realized it had thick makeup on and I can tell it was done by a 5-year-old kid. "awwwww you look so pretty your highness" I laughed.
"didn't he though?" his mother added. I looked over at him and he was in complete embarrassment. "Don't worry you look adorable, absolutely a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e," I smirked. "You're gonna make fun of me for this aren't you?" "Oh hell yeah, or my name wouldn't be Lauren Kyles."
"...Hey are you listening to me?" He asked snapping his fingers in front of my face. "Yeah what were you saying?" "We could either go the sexy and possibly uncomfortable route or we could do more cute and comfy," he said.
"Cute and comfy all the way." I hate wearing tight and uncomfortable stuff, I don't like being restrained by clothing. And besides, I'm not trying to show off to anyone. "In that case, we could probably just go to Walmart and get some onesies," I actually liked that idea, "I wanna be a unicorn!" I demanded. "Ok, let's go then, I'll drive"
