Chapter 3 - An Astonishing Discovery

The cheers erupted like an auditory volcano. When the girl finished it was all quiet and then one second later the cheers were deafening. The cheers lifted everybody's spirits and I could see some eyes watering up - the parents were so proud of their children. Shortly, the stage was prepared for the next scene - a spooky and mysterious house which could be haunted, depending on the audience's choice. This was the main scene - destined to bring chills down the audience's spine.

"The noises are not working, what should we do?" one of the backstage member asked in a worriedly tone. I instantly got nervous, what would happen? We couldn't afford to disappoint the audience after such wonderful performances. Before I could do something, the scene began! I could feel how disappointed the actors would be after they realise what was happening. Worrying thoughts began to capture my mind - what would be the reaction from the audience? The scene started and still we had no idea how to solve this dilemma. The actors began preforming and suddenly the noises began playing!! What a miracle, if the sound effects hadn't worked out it would be a disaster but luckily none of our efforts went into vain. I rushed to the backstage to congratulate the crew on this amazing job but as I reached there I was astonished. I couldn't believe what I was hearing - THE SOUNDS WEREN'T COMING FROM THE COMPUTER and nor were any of the crew members making it. I couldn't believe!! Where were these ghostly sounds coming from? If we told the audience we weren't making these noises they would have been even more frightened than they were right now. For now we had to put our focus back on to finishing the play.

After the play, we went to check where the noises were coming from. Could it be that there was someone hiding in the school and making those noises. We scanned the whole building but we could not find anything. It was nearing midnight and we started going back towards the parking lot. As we passed the hall we heard the same ghost noises again and this time it was even more frightening!! We went towards the stage and saw a crack in the floorboard where the play was held. We rushed to that spot and checked what was underneath it. We were astonished to find deep brown soil and a foul smell. We dug the soil to check what was inside - I was confused why there was soil not a concrete base!

A few minutes later, we reached a cold solid surface. There was some carvings on it which read: Mr. Tushman, 1942 - 2019. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Underneath the school was a graveyard, and that's where the ghost noises must have been coming from!!
