Chereads / Ashes: The Awakening / Chapter 14 - Chapter Fourteen

Chapter 14 - Chapter Fourteen

I had never thought of giving myself to someone, ever. To have that part of me, to see it, to have that power over me was a big step. One I was scared to take, but I think I've always known Vili was going to be the one to take this side of me. He knew it too. As Vili continued our kiss he started to untie my pants, as I started with his.

"Vili! Freya! Come quick! We've found a lead!" Called one of our warriors. Vili stopped as he looked down at me, his face clearly angry.

"You've got to be kidding me." Vili said as he looked into my eyes, hoping i'd ignore the calls of my warrior.

"This is important." I said, Vili rolled his eyes and fell off me.

"We can come back to this later." I said as I stood up and brushed the dust off myself.

"I've waited everyday of my life for this moment, and just before it happens some asshole sabotages our moment." He said as he got up, yelling the word asshole. I smiled at him softly.

"I promise once this is done, we will lay together. You will have me, all of me." I said as he embraced me in a large hug.

"Hmm, you and I in a lifetime of happiness and rough sex." He said, he laughed as I swatted him away. We left the cave and followed the warrior, my mind lingered on Vili's comment. A lifetime, did we want to spend his life with me? After we followed the warrior through the snow, we finally reached the others, all surrounding a small camp spot. I walked past them all to find Koba and Keon speaking as they looked down at the ground.

"It's about time you joined us." Koba said, a hint of sarcasm but I could tell he was serious. As great as my time with Vili was, I needed to focus on the task at hand.

"What is it?" I asked as I walked towards them.

"Have a look for yourself." Koba said as he pointed at the ground, I walked closer to see a pile of clothes sitting by the small camp fire. I crouched down to observe them, they were Sigi's clothes. I knew them by the scent and patterns. So she did come North, I didn't want to believe that Sigi would do this.

"She came North, at least we can confirm that." I said as I stood up.

"Aye, she did. But at the cost of letting Knights through our boarders. She's working with someone here, we just don't know who." Keon said as he kicked her clothes, revealing a large satchel of purple liquid, the liquid that she created to kill us. I sighed at the thought, she had no idea what storm was coming for her, why would she be so stupid.

"We've found what we need up here, Keon, Koba, search the skies. See if you can locate anything odd up there, I'll take the camp back to the kingdom. I need to make preparations." I instructed my companions. They nodded as they both walked away to shift.

"You heard your Queen, grab your supplies and lets get the fuck out of this cold!" Vili shouted as the men laughed and grabbed their gear.

"What preparations do you need to make?" Vili asked as he walked by my side.

"The Knights are in our realm, we need to start making board patrols throughout the entire realm. If they reach the castle while we're unsuspecting, it could be fatal. I will not lose my people, or you." I said as we walked towards the horses.

"If they are here, the human world will fall sooner than we thought, I need to speak with the team at the castle and see if they can send a signal. I need to speak with their leaders about the wars to come." I said as I jumped onto my white horse, Vili jumping onto his black mare.

"So you're going to make contact with the humans?" Vili asked surprised.

"I need to, this cannot wait. I thought I was going to have more time before this war started, but I was so very wrong." I said, I knew this was a leap but it needed to be done. And I needed to find the books we once presented to the humans to help them through these times.

"How long do we have?" Vili asked after a long silence. I thought for a moment, and let out a sigh.

"In my entire life span, I have never seen the Knights in our realm. Our barrier is supposed to destroy them before they pass. But that was a small army here, if they can pass into our boarders, I will give it two weeks before the real battle begins." I said, looking over at Vili.

"Well, my axe lingers for the taste of battle once again, and so do I. I would give my mead to a stranger if it meant I got to fight beside Freydis Ironborn once again." Vili said with a cheeky smirk.

"You must be dedicated if you give away your mead." I said with a laugh, Vili rolled his eyes as the company of warriors and Gods travelled back to the castle. As if perfectly timed, Keon's red dragon flew along the tree tops over the top of us, Koba's grey beast close behind. Their wings carried them higher into the sky as Keon let out a large deep roar, their wings causing the settled snow to take flight once again. When we get home, we needed to begin making battle plans.

This time we didn't stop to rest, I couldn't rest nor could I concentrate until we got back to the castle, my mind was full of ideas I needed to tell my companions. As we reached the castle, I looked at the massive stone structure before me, I did not want to climb this today. The mid day sun was becoming hot and my legs had gone numb from the ride. I looked to the skies to see Keon's red beast flying the skies around the castle, perfect, I thought.

"Are you really going to get Keon to carry you up there?" Vili asked with a smile.

"If you wanted someone to carry you to your chambers, I would happily do so." Vili said as he stalked towards me, his eyes were hooded and his posture playful. I looked past him to see our warriors looking anywhere but at us, it was clear they knew something was happening between us.

"As intriguing as that sounds, and as much as we'd both enjoy that, I need to get my ideas into a plan. I would rest until then." I said as Vili stood before me, his tattooed arms crossed over his large chest. The tattoos he had suited him well, full of our runes and symbols.

"I could help you rest, but I will respect your decision. But I have every intention to finish what we started in that cliff face." He said as he walked towards me and cupped my face, kissing me with possession. On cheque, Keon's red beast landed on the ground with a loud boom. As I tried to pull away from Vili before I could be tormented further by my companions, Vili pulled my body in further to him. I felt as if every eye of the townsfolk were on me, including Keon's green ones as he looked backwards and forwards between us. As we broke the kiss I looked at Keon who let out a small growl, I could sense the humour in it. A dirty joke would have been itching to escape his mouth. I smiled at knowing he would have to wait.

"Vili, my Grace." Said Earl Bereke, I turned to see him and his wife Astrid waiting patiently a few feet away. My stomach dropped, they had just seen their son kissing a God.

"Mother, father." Vili said as he embraced his mother and shook his fathers hand. They were pleased but their eyes landed on me.

"Earl Bereke, lady Bereke, it's good to see you both again." I said with a slight bow of my head, they both did the same.

"It's good to see you in good health once again." Earl Bereke said with a wide smile as he put his hand on Vili's shoulder, he was somewhat happy of seeing our encounter, I knew lady Astrid felt different however.

"The Gods of Asgard were most helpful." I said.

"Ah yes, I remember seeing the Bifrost open from our longhouse, it was marvellous." Earl Bereke said as he looked over at his lady.

"I was more shocked seeing Vili carry your lifeless body on the back of Keon to reach the shores of the Island." Lady Astrid said, her eyes not leaving mine. My eyes widen in shock as I looked at Vili who gave me a devlish smile, and then to Keon who turned his large head away.

"Yes, I was surprised to find out as well." I said with my voice laced in sarcasm and disappointment. Why was this hidden from me? I thought to myself.

"I've seen more shocking things recently though." Lady Astrid said once again, making her knowledge of mine and Vili's moment aware to us. After finding out I was lied to by both a companion who I trusted with my life, and an immortal berserker who I was going to give myself to, anger begun to arise in me. I had no time for snippy comments, they were the Earl and Lady yes, but they were no Gods.

"With all due respect Lady Astrid, there are more pressing concerns than the relationship or whatever I share with your son right now." I said, she raised her eyebrows and seemed shocked at my sudden outburst.

"The Dark Knights have gotten into my realm by means I don't know how, we have a second traitor among our ranks. Sharing your disapproving thoughts and words laced with sarcasm is not helping my trust within my own warriors and counsel. If you will both excuse me, I need to create a battle plan to protect my people and realm. For all I know the Knights could be anywhere." I said as I walked away, leaving Lady Astrid with her jaw dropped, Earl Bereke smiling in surprise and Vili looking somewhat cautious. He was aware I was angry at him, good.

I walked over to Keon who dropped a large shoulder for me to climb up onto his back.

"I will be calling a counsel meeting within the next 2 days, please be prepared. Leave your disapproval at home and bring your wit and sharp mind instead." I said with a smile, the Lady and Earl bowed as Keon jumped into the air and carried us up. I held onto two small spikes that provided as handles as Keon carried up further up into the sky and towards the flight deck. As Keon landed gracefully onto the flight deck, I flung myself off his body and begun walking towards the entrance of the flight deck room. I didn't want to speak with Keon yet, but from the sound of his quick shift he wanted to speak with me. As I slammed open the doors of the flight deck, some of the team members jumped at my sudden entrance, Koba who stood by the door looked surprised.

"Did someone get busted by the Lady and Earl with their son?" Koba tried to tease, I stared him up and done before walking past him and to the stair case. I was heading towards the War Plan room, two flights down from the flight deck.

"Woah Freya!" Koba called, his voice was concerned as I ignored his comment and efforts to speak to me.

"No, I got this." Keon said to Koba as he tried to follow me. I ran down to flights of stairs and into the War room where a small team was over looking two maps, one of the realm and the other of earth. They had received my message and had the plans ready.

"My Grace, we have obtained the maps and our copy of the book given to the humans." Said my plans chief, Volf. He had been my star planner in many wars, he had helped us win every one of them.

"Thank you Volf, let us begin." I said with a smile as the doors opened behind me, Keon walked through.

"Freya, do not run from me, speak to me." He said as he walked towards me. Sensing the conversation, the people of the war room exited quickly.

"Why would I speak with you? So more words laced with lies can be spoken to me?" I said as I turned to him and leaned against the table.

"What did you expect us to say? Either way you would have been mad." Keon said as he paced around the room.

"So you think lying was the best means about it?" I asked crossing my arms over my chest.

"If I told you what had happened, you would not of connected with Vili. He touched your dragon Freydis! Such a thing has never happened, ever!" Keon said as his green eyes searched mine.

"I am aware of that, but do not change the subject." I said.

"I am not, this is not a coincidence Freya. My beast accepted Vili instantly, recognised him as if he were one of our own. He isn't an ordinary being, there is something more happening here. I... I think..." Keon said, I could sense he was getting frustrated with his words.

"Speak Keon, don't get flustered." I said, trying to calm the man before me, even though he sent me into a rage prior.

"You're night walk, remember who you said you dreamt of a golden dragon with blue eyes? Your soulmate? Your dragon accepted Vili and you said you heard the words my soul, my completion, my mate. I think..." He continued

"I think the Golden Dragon is Vili." Keon said, as he stood in front of me. His eyes were nothing but serious.
