Chereads / Ashes: The Awakening / Chapter 16 - Chapter Sixteen

Chapter 16 - Chapter Sixteen

Vili had been gone for a week, today was the day we left for New York. After he heard me admitting my feelings for him, he disappeared. I finished my shower and I was sitting naked on the seat by the fire, I didn't know if Vili was going to be joining me on our voyage to the human world. By the Gods I hoped he was. I finally picked myself up off the seat and begun getting ready, being sure to pack my own clothing for the trip back. I wore a pair of blue jeans and a white singlet with a large white jacket. I wore the same converse shoes as last time. I begun making my way across to the flight deck with my bag in hand, two daggers hidden in the waist band on my jeans. I walked into the flight deck to see Ivarr and Rokii already off and speaking with Keon and Koba. They wore human clothes, and they looked somewhat good.

"By Odin's beard! I'm going to have to make a quick stop there!" Keon shouted as they all laughed.

"Make a stop where?" I asked with a curious smile as I joined into the group. They all looked at each other as if asking once another if they should tell me.

"Tell me." I asked again.

"Okay there's this place you can go in New York, it has naked woman who dance on you and on poles! They bring you drinks and everything!" Ivarr said happily, Rokii rolled his eyes and walked away.

"I'll see you all when you return from the land of the dead." Rokii said as he walked away.

"Did you both go there?" I asked turning back to face Ivarr.

"Gods no, Rokii wouldn't step foot anywhere he shouldn't of been. Kili took me everywhere." Ivarr said.

After sometime of talking, the craft begun to power up and we all started to climb into our seats. At the last possible second, Vili walked onto the craft. He smelt of mead and looked as if he had drown himself in it as he fell onto a seat behind us. I wanted to turn and ask him where he'd been, but I knew it wasn't the right time. As the craft took off from the flight deck we begun our journey to the human realm, my mind wondered as flew passed through the barrier.

"How have the humans not see this craft? I thought their technology could have picked up it up on the radars?" I asked the two pilots.

"The inventions team created a barrier for the craft, once it enters the realm we flick a few buttons and it becomes camouflaged and unable to be detected by heat signatures." Said one of the pilots as he continued to fly the craft. I was surprised at what the team had accomplished in such short time, they had out done themselves on more than one occasion. I laid my head back on the head rest behind me, I believe this was going to be one of the only moments of peace I was going to find in the New World. As I laid my head back I felt the gaze of blue eyes on me, Vili had a habit of staring,I now knew when he was. As the flight ended quickly and came to a landing, we all grabbed our bags and exited the craft, Kili and Bjorn stood by and waited for us. Next to them was Fiona, looking excited, my heart dropped. I forgot she and Vili had laid together, on more than one occasion.

"It's about time we got to see your ugly mugs!" Keon shouted as he embraced the brothers in a hug, the laughed and pushed him away.

"Glad to see you're still alive, Ivarr told us of your troubles." Bjorn said as I embraced them both.

"It was trying, but we managed." I said with a smile.

"By your hands, a new gift from Odin." Kili said with a devilish smile, not much got past the brothers.

"One gift among many others." I gave a smile back, Kili and Bjorns faces lit up with curiosity.

"Vili!" Screeched a loud voice, we all turned to see Fiona jumping into the arms of Vili. He hugged her briefly, as if he wasn't interested. My mind wondered if he had decided to leave her and pursue a life with me, but once his eyes saw mine lingering, he kissed Fiona deep and long. My heart pricked and I felt anger towards them both, how dare he! But then I thought, how dare I keep a secrete from Vili, my truest and oldest friend.

"Ugh, can you both go somewhere more private!" Kili called as he covered his eyes. Fiona's face light up as she looked up at Vili, a sudden smell of arousal hit my nose. Fiona led Vili into the house, Vili looked back at me with a smile, he knew exactly what he was doing. Catching wind of my growing rage, Keon put a hand on my shoulder.

"Forget about them, let us go to the hotel and feast." Keon said with a sorrow in his eyes. Kili and Bjorn looked at each other confused.

"Did something happen between you two while you were home?" Kili asked me, I glared at him, a warning not to pry. He took note and walked towards a small Chile, a car if i'm not mistaken.

"A car is easier to drive than the bus, your warriors are still at the hotel, we will be there much quicker than the bus too." Kili said as we walked towards the car and hoped inside, Keon took the front seat and I took the large one at the back. As I tried to muffle my hearing out, my ears pricked at the moans and groans coming from the house. Fiona shouted in pleasure. My heart rate quickened and my fist formed balls, I could not shift here.

"Freya?" Keon called from the front seat as he saw my distress.

"DRIVE." I said in a rage, my voice deep and unlike my own. Kili jumped at my sudden outburst and drove off quickly, pushing us all back into our seats. Keon turned the music of the car up, quietening the sounds of Fiona. After my rage cooled, Keon turned the music down and looked back at me with worry, I laid my head back hard against the cars head rest and closed my eyes.

"I had only heard stories of this, the Dragon God's jealously of their mate." Kili said as he drove, Keon looked at his in shock.

"The jealousy of a Dragon and their mate, is like a Dragon with its gold. A strong connection had to be formed, one of the soul and the body. Any man or woman could lay with a dragon, but only their true mate would secure the connection." Kili continued.

"What of it." I said with my eyes closed, my voice was laced with warning.

"Ever since we all first met, I saw what you and Vili had would surely bloom into something more. A connection like this though was unexpected. My brother is a Dragon God's mate, and he walked off with another woman. I have never felt such disappointment in him." Kili said. A brother admitting to disappointment in the other is hard for one to hear.

"What Vili has chosen to do, is his own choice. I have not and will not ever control him in that way. H may lay with whomever." I said as my body begun to relax. I felt Keon and Kili's eyes fall on me briefly before we continued. Kili let out a large sigh.

"It's better you know now, I had Vili changed to share your apartment, well chambers I should say. Separate rooms, same home." Kili said quickly, Keon let out a small laugh. I smiled at the thought, I was speechless, this situation was so stupid.

"So long as Fiona stays well away from the dragons lair, we will not have a problem." I said as the drive continued. Before I knew it we arrived at the front of the hotel, as we got out I admired the building in front of me.

"Do the humans working here ever get weary of you? You bring multiple different people here each week, we all stay on the top floor, we never speak with them. Isn't that considered strange here?" I asked as we walked into the building.

"Not once has someone asked a question, I own the top three floors here. I brought them for this reason, besides, I've been laying with the daughter of the man who owns this building, we're safe." Kili winked as we headed towards the elevator. Keon gave him a slap on the shoulder and laughed, he was proud. As we rode to the top floor, we stepped off and headed towards our rooms. The flight here was short but I was exhausted, the sudden burst of rage had taken its toll. As I walked into my room, I noticed it was nice and cold already. I was expecting it to be hot, the sun was slowly going down. It must of been about 3pm.

I walked into my chambers and placed my bag on the bed, I slowly walked to the doorway and looked at the door on the other end of the hall. I leaned against the door frame as I stared at it, Vili was going to be staying not even 5 metres from me, this was either going to end greatly or poorly. I headed back into my chambers and feel face first into the bed, it was so soft. As I sat back up I noticed a note on the bed side table, a note from Kili.

"Freya, this is a TV remote. The humans use these remotes and TV's to watch movies and TV shows. A great way to pass time which you will need during this time. Point this remote at the TV, push the red button then the PLAY button. I set up a show prior to your arrival that I know you will enjoy. Ill see you at 8pm for dinner and a briefing. K"

I followed Kili's instructions and pointed the remote at the TV, after I hit the red button the TV lit up and came to life. I was amazed as I watched the screen brighten and humans appeared on it.

"Game of thrones?" I spoke quietly, I pressed the PLAY button and the motion on the TV started. I laid back into bed and got comfortable as I watched the screen before me create a vision I had never seen in my life time.

Five episodes in and I was hooked, I have never been so intrigued by something in my life. The door to my home opened with loud voices following, was already 8pm?!

"Go away! Come back tomorrow!" I shouted from my bed, I was curled up under the covers and watching my show. Around the corner Keon peaked and saw me in bed.

"Who's in that bed with you!?" Keon yelled as ran full bolt to dive on my bed.

"Keon NO!" I shouted as I braced myself for the impact, Keon dived into the bed and crushed me with his emornous body.

"WHERE IS HE?!" He shouted as he swatted the bed and squirmed around like a baffoon.

"KEON THERE'S NOBODY HERE!" I yelled as I connected my knee to his face and sent him to the floor. He laid quiet for a second before laughing.

"You're right Kili, that was fun." He said as he sat up and rubbed his face where my knee landed. I looked at him and then Kili who stood by the door with a teethy smile, these pricks! I thought to myself.

"Which one is my room?" Called a third voice, Vili's voice.

"Last door on the right of the hallway." Kili said, I looked past Kili to see Vili walking to his chambers, Fiona was not at his side nor on our floor by the smell. Kili took my warning wisely. A knock at the door caught our attention.

"Oo, dinner is here." Kili said as he rubbed his hands and answered the door. I walked over Keon who still sat on my floor, purposely kicking him as I walked over him.

"Hey!" He said as I exited the room. I walked to the table and sat down at the foot of the table as Kili brought our dinner in. Keon sat down by my side as well as Vili, they both gazed at each other momentarily before looking at me. The tension was strong and uncomfortable.

"I present to you, a human kind favourite, pizza." Kili said as he sat 5 boxes on the table, as he opened each box, a round pastry covered in various cheeses, meat and sauce where in side. What a strange combination. Kili grabbed us plates and dished us all a slice of each pizza. As we begun eating the silence was almost deafening, I couldn't enjoy the full extent of the unusual combination of flavours.

"Alright, I'm putting the TV on, this silence is killing me." Kili said as he grabbed a remote and turned it on, a strange music begun to play from it.

"What is this?" I asked at the unusual sound.

"This, my Grace, is modern aged music. Maroon 5 to be exact." Kili said. I continued to eat as I enjoyed the sound coming from the TV. We begun to lightly talk and joke as we ate dinner. After dinner was finished, Keon and Vili finished up the 3 left over pizza's between them selves.

"Alright, down to business." Kili said as he poured us all a drink, wine from last time.

"Okay, as far as I know the humans have received the message that was sent out. They haven't replied as of yet but they will soon, the information in that message is highly sensitive, they don't have a choice but to reply." Kili said. The inventions team hacked into some of the most sensitive information that the humans have, we encrypted in into the message. If the humans refused to meet with us, the information was going to be leaked to the world. We were promised by Bjorn that this was the only method, the humans would have taken us as fakes if we did not.

"We expect them to arrange a meeting within the next 3 days, I'll keep you posted. But in the mean time we have been tracking the Knights in New York. Ivarr and Rokii did a great job here, they located a home base were they lead humans to their deaths. We need to catch one, alive and present it to the humans. They will need to see evidence, so for the next few days we will focus on capturing one." Kili said, I took a sip of my drink and nodded. This was a solid plan, I couldn't fault it so far. Kili took a deep breath as he looked at us all.

"Well, its 9:30. I need rest for tomorrow and so do all of you, Keon lets get going. Vili, Freydis, try not to kill each other." Kili said as he stood up. I followed them both to the doors and hugged them as they left, Keon shot me a glare, he knew it was going to be tense here tonight. I closed the door behind them, I turned to speak to Vili but he had already left and went into his room. His door slammed close before I could even look at him, I could sense he was unhappy about the new arrangements. I walked slowly to my chambers and looked at my bed, I guess I would be watching more Game of Thrones tonight. I slipped out of my clothes and dug through my draws for something to wear. A black night gown was all I could find, but it wasn't like my gowns. It was a very thin fabric, it felt odd. The top was like a bra and the gown frilled out under it, it only reached the edge of my ass. I decided it would do, as I slipped on a black pair of underwear, the same lace material.

As I turned, I saw Vili at his door, his eyes hooded and lingering on me. He breathed deeply as he watched me, I stared at him too. He wore nothing but a pair of very short pants, it gave me a clear view of his body. His body was shredded and strong, tattoos covered nearly every inch of it. Scars covered his skin, war battles and marks, each told a story. My mouth dropped as I realised the strong tension that lingered in the air, in this moment, I wanted nothing more than him. A tingling sensation formed between my legs, I tensed them to ease the feeling. As we stared a moment longer, I remembered what he had done today to purposely make me feel angry. He did it to hurt me, I begun to think this was unfair treatment. I made a swift move and I walked towards me door, his face perked up as I did.

"Goodnight, Vili." I said softly as I closed my door.
