Chapter 56 - Presley's in town

Chantel sat in bed, playing her favorite game at home when she had a call on her phone that was lying right beside her on the bed. She picked up the phone and looked at the caller ID. She realised she had no idea who it was and that made her frown a little. She swiped the screen and picked up the call to find out who was calling.

"Hello, who is this?"

"Hey, baby girl. I would never have thought the first words that would come out of that pretty mouth of yours would be this hostile. How are you doing anyway?" the caller on the other end said.

"Well, I am fine. You still haven't answered my question. Who is this?" Chantel said, trying very hard to hide her anger.

"I will introduce myself to you if only you tell me why I have not heard from you ever since you got back to your homeland. Or maybe, did you forget about me?"

Chantel rolled her eyes and sighed in frustration. Whoever had called her obviously knew her but was just trying to pull her legs and that is something she currently did not want to entertain. She kept quiet and waited for the caller on the other line to reveal himself. After a few minutes of not hearing anything from him, she spoke again.

"Listen, if you are not ready to tell me who you are, I am going to hang up on you."

"Okay, okay. Wait. Oh my God, can you just chill for a minute? It's me, Presley. Now, you know who I am," the caller began to laugh.

"Presley? Oh God. I am so sorry. Why did you not tell me earlier that it was you? And, how come you are calling me with a local number?" Chantel's voice began to soften.

"I am calling you with a local number because I am in town. And I wanted us to meet. Sorry, I did not reveal myself to you earlier, I just wanted to pull your legs a bit. I forgot you hate that with passion. Forgive me," Presley said.

"Oh come on, you know you can never do anything that can make me angry with you. Wait! Did you just say you are in town? As in, here in Ghana?" Chantel's eyes went wide open when the realisation hit her.

"Yeah, that is what i said. I am here in Ghana. I came to take care of my father's business and decided to use the opportunity to call you. I know this is the number you use on Whatsapp and I was not too sure if I should call it or not. I am happy I got to you though. So, how are you and Travis doing? I have missed you guys so much," Presley said.

"We are doing well, Pres. You are actually in town. Wow. We really need to meet. You have no idea how much I have missed you too. When did you come to town?"

"Two days ago. My father is opening a new branch here and he wanted me to head it, that is why he sent me down here. I remember I told you something like that in Canada when you said you were returning home."

"Oh, yes. You did tell me. I can't believe I forgot about it. So, where are you staying? We need to meet. We have so much to talk about."

"I know, dear. I know. And I have quite a lot to say to you too. So, how about we meet up this evening? Since it's a weekend. I hope you do not have any engagement tonight?"

"Yeah. Where do you want to meet? Tell me, and I will be there."

"Since I am still new here, I have no place apart from the hotel I am staying in. It's the Tulip hotel at the spintex road. I hope you know the place?"

"Of course I do. Time?"

"You know what I like about you? You are very straightforward and blunt. Anyways, let's meet at 7pm. That is, if you are okay with it?"

"7pm, it is. I will meet you there. This is your number, right?"

"Yes, it is. So, please remember to save it. I can't wait to see you. Take care and send my regards to Travis and your parents. Bye, now."

"I will. See you later, then. Bye," Chantel replied and ended the call. She was all smiles after she had ended the call.

She could not believe that Presley was in town. It has been months since she left Canada and she already missed all her friends. Presley was one of the first friends she made when she first got to Canada. He lived with his parents in the same neighborhood as Chantel's auntie. When she got there, she was always indoors. But one morning, Presley and his family came to their home to properly welcome her. How he got to know about her was a mystery to her. They were very nice to her even when they realised she was pregnant. Since then, she and Presley became close and their friendship began.

She was so happy that she was going to see him again after all those months. She quickly got up from her bed and walked over to her closet in excitement. She opened it,  and started pulling clothes out which she scattered on the bed. She was happily humming to herself when her mother entered her room. Mrs Asare was a bit surprised to find her daughter's room in total disarray.

"Um, what's going on here? Why are clothes scattered all over your bed?" she looked at the clothes on the bed in confusion.

Chantel approached her mother with all the happiness in her eyes. She held her mother's hands and started jumping up and down like a school girl. She was suddenly squealing like a teenage girl making her mother wince.

"Hey, baby girl. Calm down, what's going on? Why are you so happy?" Mrs Asare asked, still looking confused.

Chantel finally stopped jumping and squealing and fell into bed with her mother sitting down beside her.

"So, are you going to tell me what's making you so happy today? It's been a while since I saw you this happy. What's the occasion?"

"Well, mom. Do you remember Presley? The boy I told you I met in Canada who treated me so nicely even though he knew I was a pregnant teen?"

"Yes. The boy you said helped you throughout your stay in Canada and treated Travis like his son. What about him?"

"He is in town, mom. He is here. He called me earlier and told me he is in town. He and I will be meeting later in the evening."

"Wait! He is here? When did he arrive in the country?"

"Two days ago. Listen, mom. I need to look good tonight. Because this night is going to be a special night. Can you help me pick out the perfect dress? I really want to make a good impression."

"Chantel, calm down. Are you sure you guys are not going out on a date? It seems as such to me," Mrs Asare joked.

Chantel faked anger and rolled her eyes. "Come on, mom. Presley is a very good friend of mine. He has always been there for me. If he is in town, don't you think I have every right to look good before I meet up with him?"

"Okay, okay. Sorry. Well, how do you want me to help you? You have always known what to wear for every occasion," her mother shrugged.

Chantel suddenly had a bright smile on her face as she looked at her mother.
