Chapter 57 - Dinner date

Chantel dressed up very well for the occasion. She wore a nice beautiful red dress that went all the way to her knee. She wore red high heels to accompany the dress and did the perfect makeup as well. She got into her car after she had said good bye to her parents and left for the hotel. Presley had already sent her the address so she knew where she was going.

After driving around for about thirty minutes, she finally got to the hotel. Presley was already seated outside waiting for her. When she got there, a waiter ushered her in after she had introduced herself to him. He led her straight to presley who could not take her eyes off her.

After saying thank you to the waiter and tipping him off, Presley pulled the chair up for Chantel for her to sit down. He then sat back down and drew his chair closer to hers.

"You look so beautiful, tonight. I did not even think you would make it," Presley complimented her.

"Why would you think of something like that? Of course I will be here to see you. I already missed you so much. So tell me, how do you find the country?"

"Its peaceful and the people are very welcoming. Its been a while since I last came here. I think the last time I came was ten years ago when my mother came down for her uncle's funeral," Presley explained.

"Yeah, how can I forget? Your mother is Ghanaian. So I know this is not the first time you would be here."

Chantel began scanning her surroundings and sighed. Presley was carefully looking at her while she looked around.

"What are you thinking about?" Presley finally asked her.

"Nothing. I am just thinking about how beautiful this place is. I love the scenery. Especially the beach and the breeze. It makes the place feels calm and relaxing," Chantel said.

"Yeah, I know. Anyway, what would you like to order? I can get the waiter to bring the menu," Presley offered.

"Yeah, sure."

Presley called the waiter for the menu. After taking a glance, both Chantel and Presley ordered for their food and drinks. The waiter left them, giving them enough time for them to continue talking.

"So, what exactly are you doing here? What brought you to this country?" Chantel leaned her head on her hand as she looked at her friend.

"Well, as I said, I am here to head my father's new branch. He decided to open a new branch here just to help my mother's homeland. I don't know but I have a feeling that the company is going to do well here. I just have that feeling," Presley said.

"I believe you. I really do. I am really happy to see you. I hope you are not leaving anytime soon because my fashion show will begin next month, and I want you to be there."

"I can't really say..."

As they were talking, the waiter walked over to them with a bottle of wine and two glasses on a tray. He placed them on the table and began to pour out the wine. After he was done, he left the wine in the middle of the table and left the two alone.

"As I was saying, I don't know if I would be able to come to your fashion show. But you know what? I will attend your fashion show. I really want to know how it turns out for you here," presley smiled making Chantel smile as well.

"You are very beautiful. I really can't stop looking at you right now."

Chantel began to blush very hard. At first the only person who could make her blush this hard was Kevin. But now, the only person who could really affect her like this is Presley.

"Oh stop it. I just look the same."

"You look extraordinary. I know you know that. Just don't deny it."

Chantel continued to blush hard. Just then, the waiter walked in on them with their food. He served Chantel then served Presley. He then left them to enjoy their food.

"Why don't we enjoy our food then? After that, we can talk. Because there is something important I would like to talk to you about," Presley declared.

"Okay."

They enjoyed their food and drinks to the fullest. They continued to talk about work, their private lives and their families. After they were done, the waiter came for their used plates and they proceeded to finish the bottle of wine in front of them.

"So, tell me what you wanted to tell me? From the seriousness on your face when you said that made me realize how serious this issue may be."

"Well, it is." Presley sat up and held Chantel's hands while he looked straight into her eyes.

"Chantel, you know I have known you for 15 years. I have always admired you ever since I met you. And you and I have always been very close and your son is like my son. I think what I want to say is that, I really like you, Chantel. I am in love with you," Presley finally confessed.

Chantel was really shocked. She has always liked hanging around Presley and she could not deny the fact that Presley always made her feel good whenever they were together. But after what happened between her and Kevin, she has not been able to open her heart to anyone. Presley knew this so she was not expecting him to fall for her.

"Presley, I..."

"I know, Chantel. I know you have not been able to let anyone in ever since Kevin did what he did. But I want to assure you that I am not Kevin. I have always treated you right and have never hurt you in any way. I have treated you and Travis well. So, why don't you give me a chance to love you? Please, Chantel."

"Presley, it's not like I am being difficult. I know what you are saying is true and I know you have not done anything to harm me or Travis. In fact, you have always been there for me and treated me like a queen. But, I don't think it will be fair for you if you and I start dating when I still haven't fully healed from the heartache I suffered from Kevin. I like you very much Presley, but I can't do this to you."

Presley held Chantel's hands harder.

"Chantel, please just give me a chance. I know I can help you heal. You know what? I am ready to wait for you..."

"Presley..."

"No Chantel. Listen to me. I am ready to wait for you. I don't care how long it takes. I will wait for you. I really love you and I am ready to wait till you say yes to me."

Chantel just stared at her friend in frustration and sighed. She was not really ready to hear this.
