Chereads / Firelight: The Fairy Princess / Chapter 2 - Fire Bringer

Chapter 2 - Fire Bringer

I started to spin and twist, the 'chocolate' within me overflowing and showing itself as a bright, golden light that encased me. My clothes disappeared, but I think that even if someone was watching this, they wouldn't see anything because of the light pouring from me. In the place of my clothes, a peculiar dress formed. Over my bust, swathes of scarlet fabric appeared, fanning from in between them and flaring outward, connected to a band that strapped across my back right below my shoulder blades. From there, more red fabric with splashes of black here and there clung to my body to the waist, then flared out in a heavy, puffy skirt to right above my knees. I kind of though the skirt was like an old-fashioned puffy ballroom skirt, just shorter. The black I mentioned earlier trimmed with edges of the fabric on my bust, wrapped under it, and flowed down the dress to its hem, then lined the hem. Still in my golden ball of light, I touched my hair, which was not styled in shimmering black curls down my back, I gasped for I could feel my legs being swathed with fabric. I looked down, only to see my legs, now with black fishnets, also sporting of open-toed heels with chain straps going to my knees. Five inches.

It was at least a good thing that I knew how to walk in heels. On my arms, more black fishnets appeared, going up to about two inches above my elbows, with my hands being incased with black leather gloves. A length of chain wrapped around each wrist, and my waist was draped with more chain.

Later on I would find out that I also had a red bow with black fishnets over it on the right side of my head. Then, last but not least, I could feel a burning on my shoulder blades, more powerful than before, then a feeling of release, and the wings came free.

They were styled like butterfly wings, and were HUGE! At least two feet above my head, three feet wide, and went down to mid-thigh. The wings were gorgeous. Bright red, it looked like flames were flowing through them. The warmth that came from them kept my back warm.

This whole process, although may seem lengthy, lasted only about three seconds. The golden glow faded away, and I slowly lowered to the ground. I tried to move the wings by wiggling my shoulders, but that didn't work. Fortunately, doing that action helped me identify new muscles, and I tried to flex those, and THAT worked. Turns out, my wings were super powerful, and I would have no trouble fling. A weird sound echoed through the night.

Right. Almost forgot about Fred. I turned and faced him, feeling ready to fight. In case you haven't noticed, I was still shocked about what had just happened, so my emotions were still out of whack.

Fred pawed yet again at the ground and charged, and right at that moment, more words whispered to me. Quickly, I held out my arms, palms facing the beast and forming a ninety-degree angel with my arms, I creamed the words.

"FIREBALL!"

A ball of white-hot fire flew from my hand and smacked into Fred, engulfing him in fiery light, only to burn him to ashes. Those ashes disappeared right before my eyes, and the light went away. I fell to my knees and looked at my palms, trying to imagine that fire escaping again. My mind whispered more words to me, and I whispered them back, my emotions keeping me from doing anything more.

"Firelight sleep."

The dress dissipated, with my normal pajamas somehow appearing underneath before anything on my body was shown. Wearily, I walked to my front door, and turned the handle, to exhausted to try to climb up the room into my room. Inside the house again, I had time to get my bearings on reality. Form what had just happened only three things I could understand. One; I was a fairy of some sort. Two; my specialty was fire. Three; monsters existed.

Luckily' with those facts down, I felt better. I trudged up to my room, took time to close my window and walked to the mirror. I pulled of my shirt, turned my back, and turned to look at where my wings had been. At the same instant, I remembered the rash. I realized I hadn't felt it since I woke up. I wondered if that had anything to do with the wings. It did. In place of the red splotches and random black lines was a beautiful tattoo.

Two wings, one from each shoulder blade, facing different directions. They were outlined and extremely well detailed in black lines, the insides inferno red. Right underneath, etched in more black, were some words spelled in old English. The words were 'Fire Bringer'. I tugged on my shirt; too exhausted to think anymore, and fell into bed, falling asleep before my head even hit the pillow.
