While flying, I debated whether or not to continue my hunt for injustice today, but I decided against it. Already after just one stop, I was really tired, and after the night I went through, that made it worse.
Suddenly, I heard a scream. I looked down, noticing the extreme heat around me. There, twenty feet below, was a burning apartment complex, and people were still inside. Fire trucks were just pulling in, but I didn't care. If I didn't help, lives would be lost. Quick as a flash, I dove down and landed on the ground, rushing inside. I heard some people scream after me, but that didn't stop me. All that mattered was saving the people inside. I looked everywhere; but didn't find anyone until the third floor. Inside one of the rooms was an old man. I ran over and slung his arm around my shoulders.
"Why, thank ya miss. I though fer sure this was my last day." Said the old man.
I didn't bother with a reply, not because I didn't want to, but I didn't have the time for it. I walked over to the window and threw it up, stepped out, grabbed the man, and flew down to the safety. The firemen took the man from my arms and stared as I flew back up to continue my search.
I found two other people and flew them down too, and thought I was done until a small voice came from the still burning building. I ran back inside and went to the top floor, following the cry. Inside the very last room was a little girl, about six years old that was clutching a little tabby kitten to her chest. I approached the child.
"It's alright now, I will help you." The girl gratefully sank into my open arms, and I made sure the kitten was secure too. Then I flew out the window. As soon as we were in the safety of the sky, the building exploded. The force of the blast threw us through the sky. Everything was going in slow motion for me. All the screams down below caught my attention. There was no way anyone could survive. I threw one of my free arms out and focused all my energy on the blast. Just as it was reaching the people, it seemed to hit a wall. Everyone stood in amazement at what was happening. Landing on the ground, the little girl raced towards her mother, who was crying her eyes out. She looked up at me and whispered thank you.
All the fire that I was able to hold off, it slowly started to form a circle of fire. I used my hands to condense the fire forcing my will on it. The people watched in amazement as the fire that was about to kill them all slowly disappeared.
Everyone in the crowd either applauded my skills or sighed in relief. Either one was a positive. There was one last thing that I needed to do before I was done.
"Repair!" The building that was no longer there slowly began to take shape again. The people behind me clapped even more at seeing the new building. I only had enough to hear the sounds of admiration before I passed out into a surprised fireman's arms.
