Chapter 2 - "Resigning to fate is like accepting death"

"Juni! Arne! Mom! where are you all !!!!!!!!"

Shivering and sobbing Leif shouted out only to be met with absolute silence. It was as if the whole world had grown suddenly silent.

As he saw the place where he had once lived now growing unfamiliar and distant by the minute his emotions were in disarray and he felt as if his entire world growing dark.

But he still kept his sanity as he walked carefully to the village to take a closer look.

As he grew closer he could faintly see a silhouette of someone. He rushed towards it with anxiety in his mind.

Finally, as he reached the person he screeched and fell down to the sea of snow in disbelief.

"Matip is that you? Why are you an ice sculpture? Why is there so much ice? Can you hear me?"

Leif started shaking the sculpture with all of his might but it was not budging in the slightest.

In the end, he was unable to make it budge in the slightest and only could reluctantly give up and resume his search.

Everywhere he went there were many ice sculptures of people and some of them to his horror were in pieces and rubble. He was unable to keep his emotions in check and almost had a nervous breakdown.

As he reached outside of his house he suddenly grew tenser and feebly opened the door to their house.

Juni, Arne are you guys there? Mom, please say something to me?"

Leif had confidence in his mother as he was sure that he knew his mother the best. She was so quick and witty in making decisions, she must have escaped along with his siblings.

He yelled softly yet again but there was no response from inside.

Helpless he pushed the door down to be greeted with an image that would register into his mind for eternity, something that would give him nightmares for the rest of his life.

As his head felt spinning and his heartbeat freezing he felt as if his entire world had collapsed and his legs wobbled as he knelt down-filled with a look of disbelief.

" Why did this happen to me? why? why? Oh, why? No way I don't want to be alone in this world I want to be with everyone! This is not true! I won't accept my fate. No, I won't!!!!!"

"Wait where is mom, I don't see her-"

Suddenly the ground shook as the earth was split in half. There was a massive shockwave and crimson, blue, and golden lights were flashing in a brilliant yet shocking display of might.

Leif, alarmed by this development jumped hurriedly to save the ice sculptures in front of him but was swept away by the rubble as everything around him collapsed. But he could faintly hear some voices.

"Ha ha ha, who would have thought there would be a day when you the great 'merciless maiden' would be so pathetic and helpless," said a slightly hoarse voice with a tint of arrogance and excitement mixed within.

Leif was not near them but was filled with disbelief when he heard the reply.

"Hmm I may have been weakened but do you think you two vermin can take my life? Dream on!" a cold and furious voice was heard as the fighting continued.

There stood a woman high up in the sky her tone merciless and arrogant with a tone of absolute majesty.

Her green robes fluttered in the cold wind and she stood as if she was the sole ruler of this entire world.

She casually waved her hand and it felt as if the world could collapse with the wave of her hand.

While the land below was completely destroyed and was in ruins while the sky was filled with bright and blinding lights.

It looked like a completely contrasting sight to witness.

"No way, No way, I must have been mistaken," Leif roared in mind before losing the tinge of sanity as he rushed out, only to be met by a large amount of ice mixed with the rumble as he went flying back to the woods he returned from.

But he clearly saw that cold and arrogant but familiar figure gracefully fighting against a group of two.

As he lost consciousness he felt as if the snow surrounding him was a blanket and he felt an unusual warmth as if in the embrace of his dear mother.

He thought to himself, "How comfortable ."
