"Mama?" She looked at me and smiled, I smiled back as she gestured to come to her. I slowly walked towards her and sat down on the couch.
"Ashton, my baby" she said and hugged me.
"Mama? What's the problem?" I asked as I hugged her back.
"Your papa will not comeback anymore baby" she said while trying hard to hide the fact that she was crying. This is the first time seeing her like this, mama has always been strong and she smiles a lot. This makes me feel sad seeing her vulnerable.
"Why?" I asked as I pushed her slightly to break our hug. I looked at her and I was right, she was crying. I feel my tears are forming in the sides of my eyes.
She didn't say anything as we continued to stare at each other. I can't believe that papa will be leaving us. He's never been bad to us and both of them has never been in a big fight before so why is he leaving us.
"Don't cry baby" she said her voice shaking as she placed her hands in my cheeks and she slowly wiped my tears that I didn't know that have fallen already.
"Mama why is papa leaving us?" I asked again while my was voice low but enough to make her hear. And again she remained silent.
"Is it because of the red string?" her eyes suddenly widen.
"You see it already?" she asked as I nodded and took her hand from my face and looked at it.
"Why don't you have the red string mama?" I asked as I looked at her face again. She gave me a sad smile and said
"You'll know soon baby"
I slowly opened my eyes but everything seemed to be blurry, I closed it again as I rubbed it slightly and opened it again. I can see clearly now but I'm too lazy move so I just stared at the ceiling for a while.
My thoughts drifted to the dream that I've just had. That dream again, this must be because of the conversation me and my mama had last week. I just sighed and continued what I was doing.
After how many minutes looking at the ceiling like there was something amusing to see I decide to go out of bed. I walked out of my room and decided to check on my sister. I knocked at her door.
"Amari?" I waited for her to reply.
"It's open" she said from the other side of the door. I slowly opened the door and smiled at her. She was siting in her bed while smiling. Her hair is as white as snow and her eyes are as blue as the ocean. She always been like an angel and me? We actually share some features like our hair, I always had white hair but I've dyed it blue but I don't know why it suddenly turns back to white. We have pale skin and some girly features but not really that noticeable. The only thing that made us really different it our eye color, mine is ash gray.
"How are you baby girl?" I asked as I walked towards the bed and sat down next to her.
"I'm fine but don't call me baby" she said as she pouted making her cuter.
"Why not baby?" I asked while pinching her cheeks.
"I'm not a baby anymore" she said as she crossed her arms.
"Okay! How about my princess?" she smiled and nodded.
We just talked about random things when suddenly mama called us to eat breakfast.
"Let's go" I said as I stood up and was about to walk when Amari tugged the hem of my shirt. I looked at her.
"Carry me" she said making me chuckle. I came closer to the bed for her to easily climb to my back. She wrapped her arms around my neck and placed her legs on my hips as I supported her.
I carried her towards the kitchen. I saw mama sitting on one of the chair while smiling.
"You're really spoiling her" she said as I placed Amari on one of the chair and sat next to her.
"Well, I've got it from you" I said. She just chuckled and we started eating silently. I was half way on eating my breakfast when suddenly mama talked.
"Are you ready?" She asked as I stopped eating and looked at her. She was smiling sadly and I know why.
Mama is going to our grandma's house because of some family matters and she doesn't want me to know what is it about, she said she will be away for a year or so. She doesn't want us to go with her since need to finish our school here in the city so she decided that me and Amari will be living with our papa.
"I've packed already. Don't worry mama. I'll take care of Amari" I said as I smiled at her.
"I'm won't be really worried since your papa and Wendy are there I'll just gonna miss the both of you" she stood up and walked towards us and hugged us.
Wendy is papa's wife and papa's soulmate. I've met her before, she's beautiful, kind and understanding. I'm not really mad at papa and her wife but I'm just disappointed that mama didn't have a soulmate like them.
"We'll miss you too mama" Amari said as we three hugged each other.
After finishing breakfast I showered and got ready since we'll be leaving today. I sat on the couch on our living room when suddenly the doorbell rang. I stood up and opened the door.
"Who is it-" I didn't finish what I was about to say when I saw two handsome boys stood in front of me. A sudden familiar feeling I was in as the palm of my hand together with my face begins to heat up but I just ignored it. I didn't realize that I spaced out until one of them wave his hand in front of my face and talked.
"Hey? Are you alright?"
"Huh? Oh yeah" I said and laughed nervously and stopped when I noticed a sting attached on his pinky. I followed to where the string will end and my eyes widen.
"You're soulmates?" I didn't realize I said that aloud as I covered my mouth while I looked at them. They looked confused.
"How'd you know-"
"Oh Ethan, Evan why'd you come here?" Mama asked. She was behind me. "Ashton? What are doing there? Let them come in"
"O-oh sorry. Come in" I stuttered and it was embarrassing. I walked away from the door as I saw Amari smiling while sitting in the couch. I raised my eyebrow and walked towards her and sat on next to her.
"Why are you smiling?" I asked.
"It's a secret" she said and giggled.
