Chapter 2 - Unexpected Change

As Ken and Mark hung out with each other longer, they eventually found that they both had some common interests. While they also had similarities, they also had differences.

Ken was capable of defending himself with his great physical abilities and he preffered to fight head on, but that doesn't mean he won't strategize before fights, he will only do so in life threatening situations though as he doesn't like wasting time too much. Mark on the other hand is not as physically capable as Ken, thus he is often bullied and taken advantage of, but he is extremely observant of a situation and won't act without thinking the action through and the situations that will come after the action.

Right now they hung out at a local cafe 3 blocks to the right from where they met. The cafe wasn't very spacious but it felt cozy as multiple people gathered there to relax during breaks or after work/school.

They sat near a window with 2 empty wooden chairs beside them. Ken had 3 pancakes and a bottle of mountain dew, while Mark had 2 pancakes with a mug of hot chocolate.

Mark looked at Ken, his large messy black hair almost covering up his eyes. His body wasn't large nor were there anysigns of him working out daily, thus surprising him how he could beat 3 people so easily and unscathed.

"Hey Ken, mind if i ask something?" Mark asked before asking his question

"What is it?" Ken responded

"Umm, looking at your frame, you don't work out much do you? So how did you beat those 3 guys so quickly?" Mark asked curiously

Ken looked at Mark who was looking at him curiously and ate the last bit of pancake he had on his plate left and drank his soda before answering.

"Yeah, i don't work out much. As to how i beat those 3, they were just newbies who were used to picking on weaklings like you so they were inexperienced in actual fighting, making them easy to beat. Their moves were too predictable and they didn't even have the sense to go at me all at once." Ken answered as he stood up from the table and got another serving of pancakes, this time 5 of them.

Mark thought for a second and nodded. Thinking that it was logical. Anything he didn't know about Ken he just assumed, like him being really experienced with fights to make it that easy for him.

They finished eating and headed out. They checked the time and it was 5:02 pm. As it was late, both of them decided to head home. Ken lived in an apartment not too far from the cafe, he just needed to take a short walk and there he saw the apartment complex he lived at.

He went in and greeted the old man who was guarding the front door. The apartment complex looked nothing expensive, it wasn't located somewhere near the center of the city, rather it was near the edges of the city, where the school he goes to is also located.

He went inside the elevator and went to the 4th floor and went to his room at the edge of the hall.

Once he was in he was greeted by his two little brothers and 1 little sister who were all sitting at the couch watching tv. All of them were of the same age of 7, making them triplets.

"Big brother is back!" One of the boys said. He had similar features to Ken, one of that being his messy black hair. Unlike Ken's though where it only reached up to his forehead, his covered his eyes, like one of those protagonists from certain shows.

The boy went up to Ken and hugged him by his Leg, specifically his left leg.

Ken patted him on the head with a smile.

"Alright Keith, let go of me now." Ken said softly

As he was looking at Keith, he suddenly felt someone hug his other leg.

"Why were you so late big bro?" The other boy said. He had short black hair that looked freshly cut, he had a pair of red eyes, with a small nose just like his brothers.

"Sorry Max, big bro had to take care of some idiots that were bothering me. But thanks to them we can all go out to eat your favorite Chocolate waffles with marshmallows on top." He said sweetly to Max who had a big smile and sparkling eyes.

"Jeez brother, don't you think we should preserve our money and not go wasting them like that?" The sister who hadn't greeted Ken yet said with a pouty look on her face.

She had dark blue hair that reached up to her waist with a pair of brown eyes. She was standing infront of them with her hands crossed together, showing Ken that she didn't like spending the money he had just gotten.

"Now now Blare, it's fine since i can always get more money by working, so you don't have to worry." Ken assured his little sister

"But if you do that you're gonna be gone longer, and mom and dad haven't returned yet so who's gonna take care of us?" Blare said with a sad look on her face

Ken picked up both Max and Keith and walked over to where Blare was, which was coffee tableninfront of the couch.

He sat down on the couch, putting his two brothers beside him and picked up Becca and put her infront of him.

"I said don't worry, my work wont take too long, and i'm sure mom and dad will come back soon." Ken said with a smile, while he hugged them.

The three hugged back as they felt the warmth of their brother's embrace.

"Now then, what would you like for dinner?" Ken asked

"Chicken!" Keith said excitedly

"Casserole!" Max said after Keith

"... Noodles." Blare said after thinking.

"We already had chicken two days ago for the whole day so no." Ken said, making Keith a bit sad

"And noodles won't be too good for growing children, so casserole it is." Ken said making Max happy, and Blare just turns her head with a 'hmph'.

"Just sit here while i'm making dinner then. Watch tv or something alright?" Ken said while standing up and leaving for the kitchen.

The three then sat on the couch, Blare turning on the tv and changing the channel to the news.

Minutes passed by and nothing interesting came up on the news. Suddenly, "Come on you three! dinner's ready!" Ken said aloud, making stand up and go sit around the dinner table.

Just as Blare was about to turn off the tv, the reporter said something about a virus, making her interest pique, but she was called out by Ken telling her to hurry, thus she just turned off the tv and headed over to the dinner table.

After they ate, Ken put all the plates in the sink for him to wash tommorow morning. The three kids then headed over to their room, as it was time to sleep. Their bedroom was large in size, it was still spacious even though their toys were all around the room.

Their bed was large as well but it could only fit the three, thus leaving Ken to sleep on the couch in the living room, though he didn't mind. He tucked the three in bed and left the room once they were all asleep.

He went to lay down on the couch, he now wore a white t-shirt and a pair of shorts, instead of his uniform since he was about to sleep.

But before he slept, he often turned on the tv and went to the movie channels to watch a movie then fall asleep. Once he turned on the tv, the channel Blare put on earlier was now just showing a gray 'No signal' text on top of a black screen, but Ken didn't find anything wrong about it as he just quickly put it on a movie channel and quickly fell asleep.
