Chapter 9 - BECAME EVERYONE'S TARGET

𝙇𝙞𝙖𝙢'𝙨 𝙋𝙊𝙑:

There is another traitor among me. That's the only answer for everything that has been happening lately.

My shipments were hijacked in several areas. And this time no one outside was able to know the details. So it means someone inside us did it.

A sheep here is tipping my enemies. But who the hell is it?

Hannah came to me. She still looked sad. Seriously, I need a break from her. I'm tired of this drama queen.

" I need to tell you about something. "

" Yea, go on. "

" Cece set me up for this. I had no idea about these things. And I think Cece is working for the assassins or something. You should be careful about that one. And she tried to use me as bait to get you. Now that's all I know. I'm not your friend or enemy. Am I free to leave now? "

Whatever she said hit me like a lightning bolt. How did I not notice that before? The signs were always there. Cece joined the circle less than a year ago. And she lives with the daughter of Patterson.

" Am I free to go? " she asked again. I can't help but smile at her foolishness.

" Wow, slow down sweetheart. You come here out of the blue and say to me that your friend is an assassin. And you are asking me to just let you go? You are so innocent. "

" What else do you expect from me? I don't want to do Cece's dirty job. She wanted me to kill you. I'm not a killer. So I just said you everything that I know. "

" Listen, sweetheart, you say that your friend is an assassin just now. After your friend left the mansion and went to her safe place. I don't know what kind of game you bitches are playing but it's a lame one. "

" Liam, I'm not playing any game. I'm surrendering to you because I have no other way. Now I'm also a target for those assassins since I disobeyed them. And you are also probably going to kill me. " She sounded hysterical.

"Congratulations. You figured it outright." I dragged her by her arm. She tried to push me away but she wasn't strong enough.

I took her inside my bedroom room and made her sit in a chair.

" Liam, I'm telling you the truth. I don't know anything about assassins. You are going to get nothing out of me. I knew that Cece was an assassin only 2 hours ago and it was a lot to process. " She sounded almost convincing.

But I'm not a fool to believe these bitches. Because these two are planning something big.

" Save your breath darling. Now tell me why that bitch Cece was keen on setting me up with you? What are you up to?" I yelled.

I took out a rope nearby and tied her to the chair. She was crying now.

I felt funny about the current situation. Hannah just ruined her whole mission by surrendering to me.

For a moment I pitied Cece who made this stupid decision to involve Hannah. They must be devastated after seeing their efforts going down the drain.

But at least I have an advantage now. This bitch surrendered to me and we are one step ahead of them.

I took out my phone and called Ricky to inform him about my change of plans.

𝘾𝙚𝙘𝙚'𝙨 𝙋𝙊𝙑:

I am in Hector's apartment now hiding from Liam's men. There is only one spy left in Liam's mansion and he informed me that Hannah has confessed to Liam.

That fucking bitch. Hector told me to never involve Hannah in this. But I didn't listen. I decided to involve her only 2 weeks ago and it's the biggest decision of my life.

She also exposed my cover and I'm not safe here anymore.

Hector came to me from the kitchen and offered me a hot beverage.

" I told you to not involve my little sister in this. She is a bitch who falls for handsome guys."

" I thought she would listen to me. I have protected her for these many years and she repays me like this. "

" Cece, she left me when she was just 16 because I was involved in these gangs. She hates these things because I killed our parents. All this gang-related stuff brings back her past trauma. So I told you to not involve her. It's your fault. "

I understand now. It's my fault. I thought she forgot about her past. But she still has the trauma of her childhood.

" Okay, now what are we going to do Hector. How do we deal with our boss? " I asked him feeling guilty. It's all my fault.

" Don't be so naive. If one plan goes down, we make another plan. We'll find a way. We still have one spy left and we are going to play the cards my way now."

I nodded. But I admire this guy. Even though Cece ran away from him, he took care of her indirectly by sending me money. He always made sure that we were financially doing well. But Hannah never knew that her brother is paying for her expenses. If she had known about it, then she would have left me and moved out of LA.

He encouraged me to become an assassin one year ago. I followed in his footsteps and joined Liam's circle as a double agent. But today I failed him. Hector still looks through the situation optimistically.

I need to learn a lot from him. Just then I received a text from Natasha. It read, ' Since Hannah doesn't cooperate, she is too your target now along with Liam. These are the orders from the boss. But we are going to capture her alive and hand her over to our boss.'

Natasha is the only person who knows our Boss identity.  Hector said to me that she is the one who killed Liam's brother while disguised as a bartender.

I thought that I could be the next Natasha, but I failed. I showed the text to Hector and his facial expression changed.

" I'm not surprised at all. It was about to happen eventually " Hector sighed.

Maybe he is worried about losing his last family. I could see it in his eyes. But he is more passionate about money and he will do anything for it

He will do anything to end Liam's empire. I realized that it is time for me to make a choice. I should have to choose between my friendship and money.

I know what will happen when we capture Hannah and send her to our boss. He will kill her.

I care for Hannah. She is my friend and I can't just let her die

I can't live with myself with all the money I get from this mission if it means that Hannah has to die.

It sucks when the choices get complicated.

I can't betray Hector. But I can at least do something to save Hannah. I put on the hoodie over my head and covered my face completely.

I started walking outside the apartment. I took out my phone and called Ricky.

He didn't attend my call at first. But after a while, he called me back. " I so disappointed in you Cece. How can you do this to me? Why did you have to break my heart?"

I froze in my tracks. Till yesterday he was my boyfriend. I got inside Liam's circle only through Ricky. He gave trusted me. But I had different goals.

What hurts the most is when the people who loved you the most start hating you. Ricky is the only serious relationship I ever had and now I lost it.

" I might have used you in the beginning, Ricky. But I do love you. I might be on the other side, but I have feelings for you..... "

" Shut up. I'm not going to believe a word that comes out of your mouth," he answered back.

I felt a teardrop roll out of my eyes. " I understand you. I might be the enemy here. But Hannah is innocent. She wasn't involved in any of this. She wasn't even aware that I'm an assassin. So there is no use in hurting her. Can you please explain this to Liam? "

" Why would I believe anything that you say? You are just lying to protect Hannah," he said.

His words felt like a knife stabbing my heart. " What should I have to do to prove my loyalty?"

He sighed at my question. " You can never gain my loyalty. And you know about Liam right? He will never show mercy to traitors like you. Please stay hidden and far away from me. I will not hesitate to turn you in to Liam if you ever show up. "

" Okay, I understand that it's over between us. But if Liam is thinking about negotiating with Hector for information, then it's just a waste of time. Because Hannah is a target along with Liam for assassins. And Hector doesn't care about Hannah. "

He was quiet for a moment. " You are not one of us to decide that anymore. Goodbye Cece."

He just hung up and I wasn't even able to able to say anything else. I stood dazed on the streets and I was starting to think if I am on the right or wrong side.

If I'm currently on the wrong side, then it's too late to make things right. At least I can hope that Liam will not hurt Hannah.
