Chapter 28 - Animal

The vampire's words were laced with venom as he stared angrily at Piers. Piers was several feet away from them and had a look in his eyes that Vivienne had never seen before. He almost didn't even look like the same person. His eyes were a dark, deep red and she could tell instantly whatever was about to happen wasn't going to be good. Her whole body was engulfed in extreme pain from her now broken wrist to the bruises forming on her throat from his hand.

"It's a shame, really. She's quite pretty is she not?" The vampire said in a mocking tone. Vivienne kept her eyes on Piers, hot tears streaming slowly down her face. This wasn't her fight and she wasn't about to let any words escape her lips now. A low growl had come from Piers when the vampire spoke about her and Vivienne squeezed her eyes shut as the vampire brought his face close to hers. "Tell me where it is, Piers. Or I kill her now." Piers simply stared at him, hands balled into tight fists. "Release her. Now." Piers said through gritted teeth. The anger and power seething off of him was palpable. Vivienne tried to even her breathing but she was terrified. She wanted to cry out and fall to a puddle on the floor but she stayed quiet.

"No, I don't think I will." The vampire said as he eyed the cut that had formed on her cheek where he struck her. He reached his tongue out and harshly licked the blood off of her cheek which sent shivers down her spine and she squeezed her eyes shut harder. Suddenly the vampire behind her stiffened and he jerked his head back, tightening his arm around her. "The.." He began to speak, his voice low in almost a whisper and was shaking now. "The angel's blood." His eyes looked at her in wonder and shock. Something flashed in his eyes and in a split second his fangs grew and he bit into her neck with such force and so harshly that it caused her to make a gurgled noise. His fangs were deep and painful in her neck, he had bit her so hard. They were only in for a second before another flash of movement.

Piers grabbed the vampire from behind by his neck and ripped him off of Vivienne. In doing so because his fangs had still been in her neck, two deep gashes were made when his fangs ripped out of her. Vivienne instantly fell to the ground, blood beginning to pour out of her neck. The pain was unbearable. Her body began to shake uncontrollably. Piers had thrown the vampire quite a distance, making him slam into a tree before falling to the ground. The vampire scrambled about to get up to his feet when Piers towered over him. Vivienne watched from the ground, unable to move.

Piers grabbed him by the front of his shirt and slammed his skull into the ground. Then he did it again, and again, over and over. He was slamming it with such strength that she could see the muscles rippling through his shirt. Blood splattered everywhere and for once, Vivienne was terrified of Piers. The way he was tossing this vampire around like a rag doll was horrifying, even if the creature deserved it. Piers had slammed his head into the ground so many times now that the back of his skull had cracked open and part of it was now missing. Vivienne shut her eyes. Nausea was beginning to form in her stomach from the gruesome sight. For a second, Piers stopped to look at Vivienne over his shoulder before slamming the vampire one more time... and then separating the creature's head from his body.

Piers used the sleeve of his button down shirt to wipe the blood off of his face before appearing next to Vivienne. He crouched down and rolled her over so she was laying on her back. Bruises were forming on her neck, face, and arms. "Sleep." He said in a low, husky voice and out of her control, Vivienne fell unconscious.
