The sweet melody of her phone alarm began to ring in her ears, a loud groan left her lips as her eyes slowly fluttered open. Her strands of hair covered her face, along with her oversized shirt slightly falling off her shoulder. "Mmm.." would be heard as her hands pressed into the soft material of her bed covers, slowly moving into a sitting up position as she adjusted to the brightness of her room.
Dandy then frowned, noticing how bright it was and she looked to her open window and dim fairy lights. A loud sigh left her peachy lips, as her blue hues rolled in annoyance. She realised she left them all on. Her right hand moved to push the strands of hair off her face, brushing it to sit behind her ear as she adjusted her plastic tubing of her nasal canal; following it down her rose coloured cheeks as she adjusted it from her nose, letting it sit against her neck, softly inhaling. Her eyes closed slowly as she sat up straight taking in the moment to just breathe. Inhale.
Hold.
Exhale.
Her fingers ran through her hair as she then slowly opened her eyes once again, pushing her hands upon her bed as she stood up slowly, dragging herself and carrying her oxygen tank with her over to her window as she reached upwards and flicked the switch on her fairylights. Her eyes glanced out her window for a moment, before looking down the road towards the large home. It was the same as yesterday; a large home, lush green grass, large windows that covered top to bottom, a small black marbled path, a large black marble door to match. It was.. intimidating compared to the other small family homes.
A tall, slender blonde left the home as she turned her head back and was calling out to someone. Dandy now narrowed her eyes slightly, noticing a figure that stood against the door frame. The athletic build made her lean out of her window slightly more, she never remembered seeing this frame yesterday when they moved in.. it was only her, her dogs and her husband. Dandy's hand grasp against the ledge tighter, her chipped black nails dug into the ledge as she moved further out. The blonde continued to talk to the figure, who now held the door open completely to show their tattoo'ed torso, ripped jeans and vans, her eyes started making their way from their shoes up, until her eyes began to take in the fine details of the various tattoos upon their torso. They started along their V line and made their way all up to their shoulders. She couldn't help but admire.
As Dandy found herself just leaning out of her window staring, she suddenly felt an uneasey feeling sink in her stomach instantly. Her eyes slowly looked further up the frame, to come into contact with a soft, well defined face- that held two beautiful green eyes that glared back at her.
"Shit." Dandy spoke, as she now threw herself back into her room, making her frame hit the floor as a loud yell would be heard through her door.
"Dandy! Dan! Are you okay?!" A loud concern voice called from the kitchen, followed by her door being slammed open.
Dandy sat there on her ass, her hands next to her and her breaths heavy. "I'm fine, I'm fine. I just thought I caught myself on the rose bush in the garden.." she muttered, embarrassed to admit the truth. "It's okay, I think I just snagged myself on my own nail as I tried to smell the roses." She knew her cheeks were burning hot. Her eyes darted from her mother who stood infront of her, offering a hand out, as she then reached her hands out and was supported off the floor. As she stood up, she adjusted her nasal canal from around her neck and slotted it back into place. Her eyes shifted to her wardrobe as she walked away from her mother, collecting her hair up into a messy bun. "I'm fine, I'm thinking of going out and just getting some more photos before Monday." Her voice was raspy, as she inhaled and exhales quickly, her hands would snatch clothing from the built in wardrobe she had with no doors. Grasping a pair of her black leggings and a jumper, she walked over to her bed and threw them down. Before turning around to her small chest of draws gathering a bra, underwear and socks.
"Dandy.. you have got to be safe, you can't just throw yourself down like that.." her mother sighed, as her hands covered her face for a moment.
Dandy nodded, as she reseted onto the edge of her bed. Slowly lifting her leg up to thread on her socks. "I'm fine, honestly. Sorry. I got carried away. Can I get dressed please?" She asked, as she looked to her mother.
"Okay, just.. I'll be out here." Her mother softly spoke, walking out as she closed the door. Dandy covered her face as she fell back onto her bed.
"Fuck.." she whispered to herself.
"How on earth did I get caught." She thought to herself, moving herself to sit up as she pulled her silk underwear on, along with her leggings. Throwing off her oversized top, she hooked on her bra, slid on the jumper and glanced towards her window once again.
Dandy's gaze slowly moved over to her desk, as she would now stare at her camera. Without hesitation, Dandy rose to her feet and pulled out her rucksack from underneath her bed, stuffing the canister into it and throwing her arms through the straps, as she would grab her camera and her phone.
09:38am.
How did I manage to waste 38 minutes?
As she walked out of her room the aroma of pancakes and bacon filled her nose, she noticed Daniella sat there half awake, sleepily feeding herself forkfuls of pancake and bacon. Dandy now moved herself quickly through the house as she reached the door, hearing her mothers voice begin to call out, Dandy slipped out of the door and began to walk down the path as fast as she could. The pitter patter of her feet was loud and quick, until she knew she was out of her house windows view.
It's not like her relationship with her mother was bad, she was just suffocating.
Dandy's eyes fell upon the large house once again, this time the door closed and the house still. No lights, no moving boxes, nothing. "Mm." Would be heard as she inhaled, before continuing down the street and through the lamppost archway that lead into the forest. Her shoes crunched against the rocks underneath her feet as she headed further into the forest. The rich greens, the flicker of lights shining through the breaks in the leaves of the trees huddled together, the small flowers that grew along the path. It was an escape.
As Dandy continued to walk for 10 minutes, she found herself looking upwards until finding the clearing she loved. As she glanced upwards seeing the large break in the trees, a spot light of natural light shone through into the darkness, lighting up a small area. As she grew closer, she noticed the small collection of flowers and small animals darting through the trees. Dandy lowered onto her knees, pulling out her camera and bringing it to her eyes, as she began to press against the button as rapid clicks are heard. Adjusting her position ever so often, she captured this beautiful natural view.
Snap.
Dandy froze, as she lifted her face away from her camera slowly and turned her head to glance behind her. It was empty. Dandy now adjusted her position and stood up, as she gently tugged her canal away from her nose. Her eyes darted around the forest as she searched for a source of the noise. Holding her camera in her right hand, she began to walk back on where she came from. Refollowing the path down on the stones, her eyes fell upon another spot in the clearing.
"Hello?" She called out, hearing another loud snap follow the direct she looked in.
"Hello!" Shouting louder. Making her way towards the noise, she began to hear a small gather of voices.
"What do you mean? That makes no sense." A small voice barked.
"I'm telling you, he wants us to work harder. We meed more proof of us doing what we are supposed to do."The deep voice responded, as the snap was heard again as he began to walk around.
Dandy noticed the small gathering of people, as she watched them from a distance.
"Of course we are, and how will we do that?"Another guy responded, laughing as he then threw a small tennis ball at the tree. Thud.
"I don't know but we will.. Maybe we just need to invest even further into different types and groups of people." He muttered, rolling his eyes as he moved to rest against a tree, his arms folding over his chest; his shirt rising slightly exposing the bottom of the familiar torso tattoo.
Dandy's eyes widened for a moment, before slowly taking steps back. Her free hand moving to grasp her bag strap, as she quietly removed herself from being so close. A loud rustle would be heard under her feet, before she could know if they noticed, she ran until she hit the path.
"Jesus." She breathlessly spoke.
"I don't know, we literally had the best plan for it all."The other male caught the ball now, his voice louder.
"Oh great." The deep sarcastic voice returned.
Dandy now felt her feet hit the rocks, as she then crouched down and rested her bag onto the floor. Her hands fumbled to move her nasal canal back into place, as it sat comfortably she rested there in a squat and inhaled and exhaled deeply. The voices were drowned out by the sound of her heart and blood racing in her ears, followed by the desperate breaths she gasped for.
In and out.
In and out.
Dandy slowly looked upwards, her eyes focusing on the bluebell that sat inches away from her. She was so focused on her breathing she never heard the steps that grew closer. A small thud was heard when she assumed the tennis ball hit the tree once again.
Where they selling drugs? Dandy couldn't help but question what she over heard. As her breath began to slowly calm down, she slowly stood up once again. She removed her phone from her pocket and glanced at the time.
Dandy then began to slowly head down the path, steadily breathing as she walked past the area she was previously lurking in before. She heard a small group of laughter, then heard some foot steps. Dandy then tugged her headphones from her back pocket and shoved them in, sliding her phone open she turned on Halsey. Turning it full volume, she began to walk to the pace of the song Without me. As she found herself growing closer to the clearing, she exhaled loudly and stopped. It was like something was staring at her.. Slowly, Dandy turned around and saw figures in the distance. Dandy turned around to play it off as she saw nothing, her pace picked up as she made her way back on the path she followed here.
'Invest in different groups of people' What did that mean? She was confused by this. It must've been drugs. It had to have been. As Dandy reached the start of her road, she found herself looking towards the large modern house once again. This time, it looked completely empty and isolated. They had literally just moved in.. yet it looked as if it wasn't used. As Dandy continued home, she reached her front door and pull her bag to the front of her, removing her keys as she unlocked the front door. Walking inside she called out, while pulling out her headphones.
"Hey, Mum I'm home!" As she then settled her keys back into her bag, along with her headphones. Dandy heard ladies laughter.
"Dandy! We're in the kitchen! Come say hello!" Her mother called back cheerfully.
As Dandy slowly made her way, she looked into the large kitchen and found her mother sat across from the slender, blonde woman from last night and this morning. She sat there all dressed up, her hair flawlessly down, along with her nails, eyelashes and a fake tan. Dandy forced a smile, removing her nasal canal.
"Hello Dandy, I'm Emily. I'm the lady who moved into the house down the street with my husband and step son." Emily's lips were perfectly painted with red lipstick. Dandy then nodded, before swallowing she expected her to mention last night or this morning. "Hi Emily, lovely to meet you." Dandy then offered her hand, but instead Emily stood up and wrapped her arms around Dandy. Dandy stood there still, before allowing her hands to pat the lower of her back.
"It's lovely to finally meet you, your mother has been telling me all about you."
I glared to my mother.
"Oh Dan it was only about the.. you know. She was worried watching you leave this morning- Oh! Emily has a son whose around your age, Brenan." Her mother smiled and then took a sip of her tea.
"Oh Brenan, he's planning on attending the same college as you. He's very into his arts. He's applied for a modern art course. He enjoys art alot, especially painting." Emily laughed and smiled, as her phone on the counter buzzed. She picked it up and began to look at her phone.
"Speaking of the devil, he's just asked where I was. He went out with some of his friends who came to see the house this morning." She typed away, locked her phone then finished off her drink of tea.
"Thank you ever so much for this, it was so lovely. We should do this again sometime! You should come to our home for dinner, how about tonight? Tom will be home around 5 and we could say 6?" Emily smiled as she grasped her handbag from the side and slid her phone into it.
No. Say no.
"That would be lovely! Wouldn't it Dandy?!" Her mother spoke loudly with joy, she smiled brightly.
Dandy smiled and nodded as they walked to the door together, Dandy sighed loudly when alone and headed off behind them and slipped into her room as the front door closed.
Fuck.
