I looked around to see it running towards the others who were looking frantic. Moving fast I made a dive for it, but missed. It jumped to the side and and whipped around looking for me. But could not see me and hissed at Jay. It corrected its path and oddly landed right into my outstretched hand. Slapping my grip on it, the little creature started snarling and snapping, wiggling to move. I got up slow, others were freaking out. I had it, what was I supposed to do with it? I wondered. Jay and others mentioned throwing it into the fire. I figured not a bad idea, walking through the door towards the fire pit, I made way.
It was growling, hissing and making weird sounds as I walked. I was focused on getting it to the fire. It was strong for a being a little creature. I was having to use my muscle to keep it contained. That is when I heard it. A louder more robust growl emerging from in back of the fire. Something told me that the thing it came from was bigger then what I had in my hands. Just after the growl while I was looking a large red wolf similar to the one I had killed jumped over the fire to land in my path. I heard more growling. Instinct told me I was surrounded. Well at least my path was.
Looking behind me I seen Jay and the others had pulled their weapons. "What do you want?" I looked to the wolf before me. I figured that if I could hear the dog once I had the necklace I could hear this one.
"Drop the pooka, and we will not kill your pack." The wolf growled.
Well, that was blunt, I thought. "Why not take a shot at me?" I questioned.
"I cannot even see you enough to land a blow otherwise I would have already done so." Its snarl firmly in place.
Interesting, I was not sure how to proceed. But protecting the people behind me more important then the creature I had my hands on. I threw it to the ground. I heard it make a thump followed, by a squeal. Good I hurt it. I smiled knowing it was hurt. Pulling my Eagles I stared back at the wolf. adding "I could always use another skin in your size." A wicked smile played about my lips.
Just as the wolf lowered and the others around showed themselves I seen a flash of brown fur and a flash of white fur. I heard the fight before I could make sense of it. There was a familiar squeal from the thing I had just thrown and realized I was standing in the middle of a literal dog fight. I felt hands yank me out of the way just as a wolf came crashing to the ground. I heard it whine followed by a snap. The other wolf that lifted it's eyes at me had the same color eyes Lia did the day she spoke of the dream with the Moon Goddess. Violet fire stared at me a moment before, another wolf jumped in to fight.
"What the Hell?" Jay asked grabbing my attention.
"Get to the building!" I hollered. Pushing everyone towards the four walls and door. Everyone ran to the building. Getting inside, I slammed the door and ran to the window. There I watched as the brown wolf with violet eyes and an all white wolf went toe to toe taking each wolf and creature that came out of the shadows. I seen the white wolf taking two wolves at a time. Nothing stopping that wolf. A shadow creature emerged standing before the white wolf. I could see, they spoke. Though I could not hear what. Just as the shadow moved closer the wolf leaped into the air a blue light emerged from its mouth directly at the shadow. As the wolf landed, the shadow dissipated. The wolf looked to me, oddly I felt warm. It nodded, as if acknowledging my presence and took off into the night. The brown wolf and the black dog with ice blue eyes sat next to each other. The black dog had the creature I had held in its mouth limp and not moving.
I opened the door, protests from the people behind me. "These animals saved us. I don't think they will harm me." I scoffed as I felt pulled closer.
"This is Lada," I heard Ice say.
"Lada" I nodded. "Is that was caused their deaths?" I spoke of the people we had lost.
Ice dropped the little body of the creature. "Yes, these things have turned. They use to be fairies. But left the light to follow the darkness. This one has killed many. It is against the code to let an evil like this alive. Just like those wolves." The dog looked over it's shoulder to point.
"A fairy? What is going on?" I asked.
"A spiritual war has taken over. The dark monsters who have held this world for centuries and molded it the way they wanted. Light has come back to take this world as it should. You are one of the light warriors. Though you know the darkness your love is what brings the light to your actions." She sat. "You are greatly protected, you have faced battle in many lifetimes. But nothing like you will face in this lifetime." Looking to Ice she said. "Mistress needs you."
I watched the black dog leap to a run. Heading off the same direction the white wolf went. "This lifetime? How many have I had?" I looked back to the violet eyed wolf.
"Many warrior, you have been created to help protect the innocent and to aid Lia as well as love her." Lada stood. "She will need your support and your skills. I have called in protections for this town. Bury the ones that creature took and get back to Lia." The brown wolf started to go, then added "Bring these people with you. The evil have been warned of this place. Much nastier things will come here now to look." With that she bounded into the darkness the same way the other two had went. Who was the white wolf?
Questions filled my head just as others filled my ears from the people who had seen what I seen. I had no idea. Just like them. Lia, I thought perhaps she would know what was going on.
