The memories faded from his distracted mind. Coraline knew not to lose her focus from her mind. Coraline left the saloon, walking under the moonlight to her new home, Hoffman.
The people looked at each other desolately, with sadness and no more words to describe it, just seeing it discouraged you. Coraline finally arrived at the house, but it was not as she had imagined it. It wasn't just any house, it was big, decorated and well cared for. With flowers in its entrance, and a big oak door. It was the best house after the town hall where the situation of the town disappeared just by looking at it. Coraline lightly knocked on the door, waiting for them to open.
I lightly knock on the door, only the sound of nature singing to the moon and the bright stars of the dark sky can be heard.
"Who?" asked a lady behind the door.
"White, Coraline White," she answered as she waited for the oak door to open.
Soon the door opened without a sound, as the candlelight illuminated the porch of the house. A woman with brown hair, wearing a dark blue dress. Her bright brown eyes illuminated honesty. Her age was approximately forty-six years, she still held her youth in her hand. With a well-done hairstyle.
"Happy evening, sorry I'm late, my curiosity led me to investigate too much so I wouldn't notice the time to arrive, I hope it's not too late to apologize" said Coraline as she bent her face.
"Don't be so modest, don't worry as soon as we arrive, the mayor told us about you, we hope that our humble house which is our home is adequate to receive a great ally of the people, I hope it will be like a mother for you" said the woman kindly.
"Thank you for the kind welcome, sorry. What's your name?" Coraline answered as she walked into the cozy house.
"I'm Sofia Alice Stillingfleete, call me Madame Sofia" said the lady as she took her seat at the table.
"I think I've already introduced myself, but I'll introduce myself again.
"Hey, son, Coraline is here," Alice replied as she turned around.
"I'll be right there, just give me a second," said one man nicely.
"Do you like flowers?" asked Madame Sophie placing a vase of flowers on the table.
"Of course," responded Coraline, feeling the peace of that place. It wasn't that exciting, but at least it was a place where you could take your eyes off a world of conflict.
"He's my son, he works as a merchant with some men up north, he used to work for the Michigan city government, but since the roads were taken, we settled here in Hoffman, those merchants have provided him with work ever since," responded Alice walking to the kitchen of the home.
-Have you eaten anything, Coraline?" asked Madame Sofia nicely.
"I haven't eaten anything, I came all the way from Cowerdon and I haven't had time to think about it," Coraline replied with a smile.
"Then, I'll serve the food right now," she replied by placing a basket of bread.
Coraline saw everything around her, there were paintings in the room.
"She introduced you to my son," Alice said as they watched a man approach, tall, stocky, white as a leaf, his hair dark as coal, his eyes dark brown, about twenty-five years old.
"Hi, I'm Tear Stillingfleete," he said as he took his seat.
"He called me Coraline White," she said as she introduced herself.
Madame Sofia served the food on the table, there was meat and rice, and oatmeal. Everything went quiet.
"There will be a meeting of a resistance called Haru Haru which means One Day, there is a man who trades in arms and another who is a commander of Lady Ycan's groups we rarely see him" Tear commented chasing away the silence of the moment.
"When will they hold one of the meetings?" Coraline asked, as she put a bite of bread in her mouth.
"In two moons and one sun, that is, the day after tomorrow, we are in danger, but there is no danger if we want freedom," responded Tear as her eyes lit up and she was determined to do everything.
"It's all right," she replied with a smile.
"We are not from America, we are foreigners, we lived in Busan, but we decided to come to America eight years ago, in an Italian boat, first came Tear with a group of Italians and Dutch-Germans, then I came in a French boat with a group of English and Spanish, and Russians, almost all who have come to America are migrants, I hope that America will one day be a place of union between us. Pitifully Ycan who is American, daughter of Londoners, wants to expel all those who are not from America, but practically she should also be expelled because she was not the daughter of an Amerindian from America" He ended by saying while sighing and continuing "Pitifully, we may have to go to Philadelphia, anyway we have nothing in these towns, our inheritance and business are in Busan and in the northern states" He ended by saying Madame Sofia.
"I understand, it's very difficult to be a civilian and fear death from injustice," Coraline said as she finished eating.
"I'll tell you Noona Major, after all, this will be your home for a while," said Tear smiling as he watched Coraline's laugh.
"Thank you for everything," she said gently, rising from the table.
"Your room is up the stairs, at the back after the two rooms," replied Madame Sofia.
"Thank you for your directions," said Coraline rising from the table.
"Have a good rest, Noona Mayor" said Tear as she finished eating her bread.
As Coraline walked down the hallway, thousands of memories flooded in, it had been a busy day. She felt as if something was missing and shining again, but she didn't know it clearly. She could be happy again... that was what she feared she would never see again.
