Avaline POV
"No aunt Amy I'm fine no need to worry at all," I said to the most important person to me after my dad and my stuff animal Hunter. I was in an Uber passing the streets of New York that I'll soon be accustom to.
This is my first year of college at New York University and I'll be moving into an apartment that's close by. My dad had died eight years ago when I was ten. I never really got along with my mother that well. I refuse to call her 'mom' it's not a title I feel comfortable calling her, not after what she did to me. NYU was the dream that my dad and I had created when I was young. I knew I had to go there and to live out my crazy dreams, but I don't think that's something I cared for anymore. I know it's - it was - important to my dad that I attend school there, but now I honestly feel like I would've been fine going to any other school. I grew up being daddy's little girl being so that I'm the only child. It hurt losing him, but what's worst was losing my mom in the process.
Before my father died, my mom and I never saw eye to eye and when my dad did die our relationship became worst she neglected and made me feel horrible for being alive. My father died in a car accident, we were on our way back from Miami-Dade County Youth Fair when a drunk trucker hit us. My dad used his body as a shield to protect me from the impact of the collision. So my mom has blamed for the cause of that and to be honest I do too. I keep thinking if only I never ask and beg my father to go there in the first place maybe he would've still been alive.
So when I had turned sixteen and graduated from high school I left and decided to stay with my Aunt Amy and Uncle Kyle, along with there children in Washington for a while. I've never looked back, being so that I moved from Florida to New Jersey, I had taken a year off from university so I can get settled and figure out what I wanted to do with my life. During that time I just help my aunt run her organization to help youths, until the day I got a call from NYU that they wanted to give me a full-ride scholarship for their medical institution.
"I'm sorry I just have to worried sweetie, it's just that you've grown to be a beautiful independent woman," my aunt said on the other line and I knew she was in tears.
"I don't know about beautiful now....and aunt Ams you better not be crying we've been over this and it's not like I'm gone forever" I responded as the Uber driver stops in front of the place I'll start to call home. I put my hand to cover the phone as I mumble faint 'thanks' to the driver and open the car door maneuvering to the trunk to get my luggage. This would be the last trip back and forth from Jersey to New York.
"He would've been proud and happy for all of the accomplishments " Once she said that I made a faint smile (not that she could see me) blinking tears away before they fell. While reaching for the keys in my pockets to enter the house that already had my furniture. Just to make the aspect of it to feel homey, thanks to Kylie and Kahili for helping me purchase and move everything.
"He would but I'm happy that I made it, I did this for him and for mostly myself maybe I'm meant to be here rather than in Florida with my mom," I said sadly, I just wished he was still here.
"Well I'm happy for you sweetheart you know you're like one of my own even though it's only been a year," she said with other voices entering in the background. " Oh I forgot to ask, did you see if anyone is willing to rent the apartment with you?"
"Yeah I did put up a few ads online I'm meeting with them soon, sometime next week when I start classes... aunt Amy I got to go and finish unpacking these boxes I'll call you somewhat later and tell uncle Kyle that I say 'Hi'."
2 hours later
All of my boxes were unpack except for one I don't remember packing... It had a sticky note that read ' Hey I was looking through some of your father's old things and thought that you'll want them - A' It was probably from auntie Amy.
As I was picking it up a whole bunch of letters and pictures came flying out. I guess it wasn't tape right I thought to myself. I bend down to pick up one of the envelopes that fell out, something caught my eyes 'Dear Future Me' I said under my breath I wonder how aunt Ams got a hold of these I haven't seen nor done one of those in a while. I picked them all up and put them in my trunk case in front of the bed along with the pictures and my dad's stuff.
When I closed that trunk I didn't think those letters would've changed me and maybe for the better.

We'll this is a short Prologue to give you an idea of how she first in counter the letters to give a heads chapter one and two will be more of she meets her roommate and an introduction to the character. Those letters probably won't be opening up for a while.
If you have any questions or ideas I will gladly answer and accept. Also when I update I'll do two at a time plus I only update when I feel an idea pop up. If you have any critics I don't mind cause that's what helps a writer grow.
