That was what he felt. Pain.
Not just him though, all three of then felt the excruciating surge of pain from their bodied. Groaning, they held their head in agony, rolling around on the dirt as they did. The main character somehow managed to recover before the others did, regaining his sight and focus after a short while.
Finally able to see, he observed his surroundings, confused as to where they were. From the dense vegetation, trees that pierced the sky and blocked out the sun; bushes, logs, flowers, small streams, one could gleam that they were in a-
"Forest??? HOW THE FUCK DID WE END UP IN A FOREST?!?!"
His brief outburst seemed to have knocked some sense into Lenny, who suddenly groaned in pain as he felt his vision and focus come back. Managing to pick himself off the ground, he looked around in dishevelled confusion.
Confused and shocked at what he was seeing, located the city lord laying a short distance away on the ground... thoroughly unconscious. Walking up to him, he dropped on one knee before shacking the city lord whilst calling out his name.
Although his attempts were in vein, his efforts moved the main character to the point that he too got close and violently shook the city lord. Noting that their actions were futile, the main character let out an evil1 smile before cocking his hand as far back as he could before delivering the most, eyes watering, face heating, blush-Induced by pain-inducing, slap known to man.
*SMACK!*
Feeling an intense pain emanating from his face, the city lord quickly opened his eyes, cradling it as id it was a new born. He wasn't dead! The two on the side let out sighs of relief, while the city lord looked around in confusion, when suddenly, a sharp pang of pain assaulted his head causing him to grimace in pain, his eyes neither sealed shut, nor opened wide were shaking profusely. When he came back to his senses, he looked at the two before asking, "Where are we?"
His face conveying confusion, pain, and anger.
"I have no idea..." Lenny answered, when suddenly the main character was heard, "We're somewhere around the city..."
Slowly getting up on his feet, the city lord looked around with confusion before turning to the sky that had been covered with tree branches and leaves. With a light tap on the ground, he jumped up going past the branches and leaves before breaking through and soring above a sea of green. He also surveyed his surroundings, locating a small town in the distance.
'Where is this place??', he though as he fell back down, seamlessly fitting through the hole had had created when ascending. Landing with a loud *thud*, he said, "There's a town ten minuets away, we should go there and investigate. Agreeing on the best course of action, they made their way towards the city. The city lord and Lenny running on foot, while the main character held onto his, long forgotten, staff for dear life.
After about ten minutes, they reached a clearing, the town's wall seen in the distance. Going around it, they found an entrance with two men standing guard. Walking towards the gate, they were questioned by the two.
"Who are you?" One of the guards asked.
In hopes of getting answers the city lord replied, "I'm sorry, we are lost travellers in need of guidance, can you tell me where we are?"
With a hint of suspicion, the guard answered, "This is the town of Cottonwood. Does that ring any bells?"
That name seemed to have more meaning than it led on as the city lord and Lenny seemed shocked by it. Thanking the guards, the three distanced them selves to talk.
"It isn't what I think it is, right?!" Lenny asked, not daring to believe the possibility of what was happening. But to his dismay the city lord, with a grave face, answered, "I think it is..."
Feeling left out from what was happening, the main character asked, "What's going on?? What's happened for you two to be acting like this?"
Coldly looking at the main character, the city lord explained, "Earthmire city has existed for over a thousand years, for the first three it was known as Cottonwood..."
"So? What does that have to do with..." that was when the main character connected the dots. "How could this possible??"
"Your faulty array formation, that's how!" Lenny added.
"That's not possible! I double checked it's structure before activating it... There is no way it happened due to the array! No way!"
What a mystery...

They must have a censoring effect considering you cant read what's in them.. It also seems like [Reader] can't see them. That's why you two are arguing... He says the person and you can't hear it...

[Author]: My best guess is that it has to do something with [PLOT]...
