Chapter 91 - Schooling

Back on the main character's side...

Yuno and the teen chatted away with her telling him how she was close to making a major breakthrough in her cultivation, and the mc telling her his adventures in the After Realm. Of course, she didn't believe him, but it was a nice little adventure story to hear. Like come on, who would believe that he, a qi-less individual, not only went to another realm but orchestrated/aided in a birth of a new divinity??? Who the fuck would believe that crap!

"Anyways, where are Astrid and Alice? I haven't seen them in a while..."p

That question made Yuno slightly sad as she said, "Their studying with their tutor, it seems like they were in a break but now that its almost over, they need to sharpen up... "

That surprised him as he had forgotten all about that... all about schools that is. Of course, one could argue that Sects were a type of school, and they wouldn't be wrong. But then again, in this context, Sects didn't count as they were basically cultivation oriented universities.

Schools on the other hand was different; school were there to teach you about the world. They existed for the sole purpose of filling you with enough logic and common sense about the world, for you to not do something idiotic and die. One could also say that they were established for the purpose of creating individuals who aimed to expand the human race further into development... *Sure*

"Ah, I see. I see..." replied the main character but seeing her saddened expression, he asked, "Wait, why are you sad? Is it because you miss them or something?"

"That and the fact that I've never been to school..." letting out a chuckle, she further elaborated, "When we talked, they told me about all the fun and trouble they'd get themselves in school and. I don't know..." She seemed to resist what she wanted to say before relenting and saying, "It just seems fun you know..."

'Hah, Youknow. Now that's what I call a double entender...', that was the first thought the appeared in his mind, followed by, 'It does seem like it's important to her though... Aaagh, if only she could go to school too...' His line of thought came to a grinding halt! 'Wait, why am I assuming that she can't?'

That thought seemed to have sparked another thought as he asked, "Hey, why don't we also go to school?"

Yuno was taken aback at the idea but it did lightened her mood, but that didn't change the fact that they couldn't...

"I don't think they'll accept anyone who hasn't received schooling prior to that grades, let alone someone who hasn't once gone to school in their life..."

"Hah..", the main character let out a chuckle. What she had said was really comical, "My dearest Yuno, we aren't just anyone. Don't forget, we have the backing of both the Nine Dragon Sect and the city lord, do you think such restrictions would apply to us when we have such impressive??"

Yuno paused for a second, her expression slowly shifting for the better; she really wanted this. "I guess not, but I don't want to get my hopes up!!!" she said, wanting to remain as calm as possible.

"Okay, how about this, go back to normal and forget about what we've talked about. I, on the other hand, will go and talk to the city lord about this. If he can pull some strings and get us in, I'll tell you, if not, we'll never speak of this again. How does that sound?"

Yuno nodded her head in agreement... though it was going to be hard for her to not be excited.

. . .

As they continued to chat, Han Sen finally returned from his side quest of returning the kind lady from where he found her. It was also worth noting that he had done it in record time as he seemed to have an inkling of what his Master had in store for him.

When the main character saw Han Sen, he was quite surprised as he thought, 'It haven't even been thirteen minutes...'

Excusing himself, he stood up, keeping to his previous plans of teaching Han Sen the art of cultivation. But just before he could take a step, Yuno asked where they were going.

"We're going back to my room, I had made plans of teaching him the art of cultivation..."

Yuno hearing his felt her face go droopy, a symptom that can only be fixed with a good face-palm. Seeing her reaction, the main character suggested, "If you're not doing anything, why not join us?" Yuno thought about it for a second, 'I guess it would be pretty funny seeing him lie through his teeth like that...'

"That sounds like a good idea.", she responded with joy, as if to be a preview of what's to come. Smiling the main character led the way to his room. Once inside, he supplied cushions for the two, making sure he was in a position of power (in this case, physically looking down on them) before starting out this life altering study session.

Watching them so eagerly waiting for the lesson to start, Han Sen in particular, the main character asked, "Are ya ready kids?" in a weird, Pirate accent. The so called students looked at him as if he was mentally challenged but it was apparent that Han Sen was very expectant. Seeing their lack of response to his iconic words, the main character let out a sad sigh before officially starting the lesson with a simple question.

"You guys are no fun... Anyways, let's start of this lesson with a question. What do you think it means to cultivate?"

Pointing towards Han Sen he said, "You." Although a bit taken aback, Han Sen thought for a second before answering, "The pursuit of immortality." The main character nodded his head before swinging his arm to the right, pointing at Yuno, prompting her to answer, "The pursuit of absolute power."

Nodding his head in agreement, the main character was satisfied with their answer as he said, "Both of you are correct, but what you have described is only an aspect of cultivation. You see, everyone besides the divinity are mere partitions of life and due to that, they must cultivate themselves in order to be whole again, attaining immortality as well as absolute power in the process."

The two nodded their heads indicating understanding and prompting the main character to continue.

"Do you know what happens when one reaches the state of being whole?" he asked, turning towards Han Sen. Under the spotlight once more, Han Sen thoughtfully answered, "They reach godhood?"

"Ding, ding, ding, Bingo! They reach godhood!" The main character said, further elaborating, "That's why the divinities are so powerful! They are the only ones, besides me the Primal God, who have attained wholeness, both in body and spirit... But even they haven't escaped lack as they have yet to make whole their souls."

Finding flaw in his statement, both of his students raised their hands, Han Sen conceding in an act of chivalry.

"What's the difference between the spirit and the soul?" Yuno asked, unbeknownst to the fact that Han Sen also wanted to ask that same question.

"Think of it like this," The main character elaborated, "Your consciousness and qi reside in your spirit, where as you very essence, is kept in your soul. Your spirit is what makes you, you; while your soul is what gives you life and its many natures. You see, if one had a spirit but not a soul, then they'd simply be a rational yet emotionless being. If one had a soul but not a spirit, then they'd be crippled in the cultivation sense, but are also enlightened in the fact that they are unperturbed by the whimsical nature of their absent spirit..."

Before he could continue tho, Yuno interjected, asking. "What if they don't have both?"

Han Sen also looked at the main character with expectation, he too wanted an answer.

"For someone who doesn't have a spirit nor a soul, they simply become Demons!"
