Chapter 67 - Venus Auction House

Making his way towards the headquarters, the city lord's expression was cold as he saw the amount of damage that had been dealt to the city; to HIS city. Although the damages were contained in a small area, the intensity could not be described into words.

And the fact that the closer he got to the headquarters, the more destruction and crazed he saw, didn't help his case either. Spreading destruction wherever they went, the crazed attacked all that moved, coloring the streets red with the blood of the innocent.

They truly were monsters as they ever attacked each other with savagery unseen in all the ages.

The city lord's face grew even colder as he saw the crazed tearing each other apart, blood splattering and entrails entrails scattered across the cold and unforgiving ground.

'What a gruesome sight!', but he didn't have time to waste on these poor souls, and to. Without stopping, he made his way towards the headquarters, finally arriving at the scene shortly after.

As soon as he arrived, a strong pungent scent assaulted his nose, causing his gave to contort in disgust. But unfortunately for him, the sights left were far worse than the scents. Blood and gore decorated the street that was caved around the headquarters.

Although the crazed had fought each other to the bitter end, they weren't the only victims to be found around the crude artistry. They were accompanied by the innocent that had been going about their day, unaffected by the mania mist, they were the first to be slain. There were no exceptions either! Men, women, children, and the elderly, they all died at the hands of the crazed!

Paying his respects, the city lord floated over the corpses and entered the headquarters only to find it equally as gruesome as the streets outside. He even recognised many of the crazed as the members of staff that served under his rule. They faces expressed a mix of dread and soullessness, that was further amplified by the blood that covered them.

'What a nightmare.'

Watching all those familiar faces turned into such monstrosities, the city lord felt anger welling up inside of him. His clenched fists had already started ripping with blood.

Spreading out his senses, he sensed a disturbance that emanated from two floors down in the basement. Quickly descending down the stairs, he saw signs of battle with little blood to be seen anywhere.

'The people in the basement have not sustained any injuries?'

The was the first bit of good news he had encountered all day! But he still needed to get to were the disturbance was coming from... Descending down the stairs again, the sounds of constant banging were made clear. In the far distance, a grotesque crazed man continuously slammed his hands against an office door.

The door was barely holding on, having been supplied by a constant stream of qi from the other side, strengthening it to withstand the crazed one's attacks. But it seemed like it wasn't going to be enough as cracks started forming on the door, slowly giving in to the crazed one's relentless attacks.

But just as it was about to break completely, the attacks suddenly stopped before the crazed man cracked his head around, its ominous purple eyes peering straight at the city lord. As if it had been giving a burst of energy, it pushed off the ground, dashing towards the city lord with the clear intent to kill.

Stretching out his hand, the crazed man grabbed at the city lord's head, aiming to kill him in a single move.

As soon as it came into contact with the him though, the city lord's body suddenly turned into mist before a streak of light flashed. Reforming behind the crazed, the city lord stood with his sword drawn and blood dripping from it's sharp edge. Blood he soon discarded by swinging his sword to the side.

A chill spread across the crazed one's body as his face went pale, contorting in pain. Why, you ask? Well, the arm he had kept by his side while attacking the city lord had now been cleanly severed!!

The most shocking part was that he hadn't even seen the attack coming! One moment he was fine and the next her was missing an arm... Wtf was this?! Unfortunately, thing didn't get any better for him as even before he could mourn for his severed arm, another deadly attack was sent his way.

Three Step Strike!

Taking three quick steps towards the crazed, the city lord delivered a terrifying stabbing attack! The air around his sword seemed to fall under his dominion as it curled around his blade, piercing clear though the giant and introducing a gaping hole into his anatomy. The crazed stumbled back as blood leaked out from the gaping hole made on its chest. Taking his last breath he fell to his knees before falling to the ground, never to stand back up again.

Discarding the blood on his sword, the city lord went to the door the crazed had been banging on before knocking on it gently. After that, a frightened voice was heard from the other side. "Wh-whose there!!!"

Clearing his throat, the city lord answered, "It is I, lord Zachary Price. I have taken care of the crazed do you can come out now..." The city lord waited for a few seconds before sensing the qi that was supplied to the door be cut off, causing its mild glow to disappear and the cracks to spread further out, making the door seem like it could be taken down a mere breeze.

That was further proved true when the door was pulled open from the inside, only to crumble into countless pieces. Seeing the survivors, the city lord was relieved to find out that not all of his staff had died in this brutal attack. On the contrary, when those that we're inside saw him, they let out tears of relief as they were who better to guard their safety than the city lord himself.

Turning to the nearest person, the city lord saw an older man that was in a tired state before he asked, "Are there any other survivors?"

The old man saddle shook his head as he said. "I'm not sure, as soon as the attack started, we just came in here to hide..." Acknowledging the man, the city lord touched behind his ear, activating his voice transmission before saying, "City lord here, send transport and three groups of military personnel to the headquarters ASAP... And make sure you land at the auxiliary entrance."

After having given out his orders, he gathered the survivors before leading them to the upper floors, making sure to use the auxiliary entrance around the back.

'These people have gone through enough horrors foe the day...'

Although he tried it was inevitable for there to be one or two bodies laying around the auxiliary entrance. That was further proven when the one of the women saw a slightly mangled corpse. Reasonably unsettled, she emptied her stomach as she was comforted by the other survivors that tried their best to avoid the corpse.

Once they reached the streets above, the survivors were greeted with an almost post Apocalypse scene as destruction was displayed on rampant. Showing how what they had experienced was just the tip of the iceberg.

Not long after they arrived, three transport drones that carried three groups of soldiers, landed in front of the group. Marching outside, the military personnel were dressed in pitch-black military like robes that were complimented by black bonnet-beret caps. Standing in front of the city lord, the leader of the two groups came forward, saying his greetings before awaiting his orders, "What are our orders sir?!"

"Create a two block no entry zone around all the attack sites, do not let anyone pass through! Bring in the forensic department to identify and capsulize the Dead. Get these survivors to the infirmary, and lastly, send out a group in the western direction to take search for and capture the crazed one's. Lethal force is permitted, now go!"

Having received their orders, the group of soldiers quickly went to work. Some entered the headquarters while others spread out in order to create a no entry perimeter.

One group was sent in the western direction, the direction the city lord came from, their objective being to take down the crazed he had spotted earlier... that is if they hadn't already killed each other. The two soldiers that were left behind, helped the survivors onto the transport drone before taking them to the infirmary, as per the city lord's order.

Just as the city lord was about to make his move, he suddenly received a distress transmission. Accepting the transmission, he was informed that the Venus auction house were in a dire state and needed urgent assistance.
