Chapter 66 - Predicting the Plot

It was said that when one lived in comfort, their perception of time gets is either dragged our or shorted, that held true as a week came and went without much happening to the maim character and friends.

At least for Yuno and Han Sen it went by quickly as for the most part they mainly just focused on cultivation, with Yuno taking a break at night to hangout with her friends, Han Sen on the other hand, had entered complete seclusion, and hadn't been seen for a whole week now.

This was found odd by the city lord as Han Sen was supposed to be a guard assigned to protect Yuno and Bao Obi, personally by the Sect Master. So it didn't make sense for why Han Sen seemed lax on his duties... but then again, considering Yuno was also cultivating in the room beside him and Bao Obi didn't venture off too far, it seemed a bit warranted.

For more reassurance, they were also, by default, protected by the guards that served and protected the price family, so he didn't see too much wrong in his actions.

Real cultivators aside, the main character on the other hand had been left with nothing to do after having explored all of the mansion. Of course, this was all his doing as he had rejected cultivating like normal people as he had thought it inferior and an insult to his Godly self.

"I'm afraid that if my life flows as peacefully as this, I might just go insane from boredom!" the main character exclaimed, feeling exasperated.

Thinking about it further though, hadn't he gotten a list of Leviathan beasts??? Hadn't he planned on a great hunt??? What happened to that?

'Wait, why did I even return here????'

Unfortunately, at that same moment, he remembered, 'I almost forgot, it was Yuno that had chosen our destination...'

He didn't regret letting her pick or anything, he was just bored at how peacefully their life had gotten. In all honesty, he who had the mc halo shouldn't get this much peace and quite... That was just a blatant fact!

Thinking up to their though, his face expressed confusion, 'Wait... isn't it Customary for the main character to have a small week or two break before having their next adventure? Longer if they disguised the time skip as a traveling journey from point A to point B... And since we have the Imperial door for any type of long distance transportation, its basically a guarantee for the 1-2 week rest period to be the one in effect before the start of the next adventure. The next plot...'

His body shook as his thoughts sent a shiver down his spine. Hadn't he essentially created an invisible enemy that would strike them at any time?? But such puny worries only lasted for mere seconds before being dissolved in his delusions.

'Then I shall concede the first move, but be wary oh unknown adversary, my retaliation will come like a flood; clearing everything in its path!!' A cool expression being held as he said that.

. . .

Around the same moment, inside a dark ally found in the city of Earthmire, three men fitted in dark concealing clothing can be seen bickering amongst themselves.

"I'm telling you, the boss commanded us to use the mania mist simultaneously with the chaos beads!!" The brawny fellow exclaimed.

The short, stocky man at the other side of his words countered by saying, "He only said to maximize the chaos caused. He never made such detailed specification!! Besides, it would be far better for us to use the chaos beads first so that we can target more people with the mania mist!!"

The two went at it for a few rounds before the skinny man that stood silently between them spoke up, putting rest to their bickering.

"I think John is right, we should do them in succession, that way we can create more chaos... isn't that our ultimate goal???"

The brawny man clicked his tongue but he didn't dare go against the leader's words, especially when he had made such a good point. Sighing, he muttered, "Chaos is Chaos, I guess...' as he rubbed the back of his head; losing had obviously left a bitter taste in his burly mouth.

Finalizing their discussions, the three went their separate ways, all having a designated target. Two hours passed, everything still normal, when the city lord was given an emergency alert through his communicator.

His face darkened as he saw the emergency alert, 'What happened?!!'

Opining it, he received a video transmission straight from his right hand man.

"Boss, boss..." The main on the other side of the video transmission was in a haggard state, with blood staining his face and his breath inconsistent. "We're under attack!!!"

The city lord held his cold expression, one that had gotten colder when he saw the state his right hand man was in, as he urged, "Talk to me number two, what happened!"

The man forcefully regulated his breathing before he responded, "Someone attacked our headquarters, the Venus auction house, and the star families main residence, all at the same time!!! But their tactics were underhanded, they used some sort of explosion followed by a smoke grenade that sprayed mania!

Whoever inhaled the gas would go in to a frenzy and start attacking all in that was in sight, not spearing friend nor foe!!! My lord, they had done great damage!! They've already destroyed our first and second line of defence!!! But the main gas is still present, my lord I thinks this is going to be the end..."

Before the city lord could ask anything further, the video transmission was cut off, bringing down his cold expression by a few more degrees. 'Who dares cause trouble in my city?!'

His demeanour was powerful, affecting everyone that sensed it as he made his way through the mansion. Calling over the head guard, the city lord ordered the increment of the security of their home to its highest level. Sensing the cold and domineering temperament the city lord held, the head guard accepted the order without any further questioning.

'What a frightening man!'

As soon as the city lord left, the whole mansion went through a transformation, with iron shutters covering almost every inch of the exterior as the guards doubled in all their posts.

Running at super human speeds, the city lord's red hair trailed behind him. His focus was laser-like, but sensing a disturbance in the distance, he spread out his senses to discover a shady cultivator of the same or greater cultivation base as him, running in the same direction.

Given that he didn't have time for any side quests right now he thought. 'I'll see if their a friend or foe once we reach our destination...'

Focusing back on what was ahead, he jumped, ran, and rolled over buildings, inching his way closer to the City Lord Headquarters. As he got closer, he was introduced to the sight of people fleeing in his direction in fear.

Looking at the furthest person, his eyes narrowed at one cultivator that walked around in an unusual manner, wobbling and stumbling around. Closing in on him, the city lord observed a strange trait found within the man's eyes.

'A purple glow... Seems like they have some connections with those that attacked the Venus auction house, not too long ago...'

Not stopping to ask for questions, the city lord immediately attacked the strange cultivator, skilfully knocking him unconscious with minimal effort. Watching as the cultivator's body went limp, the city lord took out a small talisman before placing it on the unconscious man,

'This way even if he wakes up and runs, I'll be able to track him.' He didn't actually say that, it was just the [Author] skilfully explaining the reasoning behind his actions...
