The blinding light was hurting my head, squinting my eyes, I put my focus on the bright source. There was a floor-to-ceiling window illuminating the entire room. Confused, I scrunched my eyes, figuring out if I was still in a dream.
Flashback of the event of last night slowly played in my mind. We had dinner. Then, I decided to have a drink at the bar. OMG! I saw him at the bar. We had a heated argument. He came with me to the elevator on my way back to my room.
Did I went out again, so where am I? I scrambled to stand up from the bed, only to find myself immobile. Something heavy was weighing me down. I started shuffling away, but instead of getting away, he tightened his grip on my body. I ended up in a spooning position against a solid body, which only heightened my anxiety.
However, there was something else. It was as if my body was starting to respond with the thrilling sensation this warm physique was providing. My mind alerted me to be wary, but my body was getting overly excited as this unknown man started to breathe at the back of my neck and nuzzled his face against it.
I pushed at his arm, which was quite heavy due to its masculine form, and wiggled myself up, freeing myself from his clasp. At last, I got a good look at the stranger at my side. Shock, dread, and mortification would be my initial reaction if the man beside me were a total stranger.
Seeing his face, anger, annoyance, rage, and disgust were only a few of the adjectives I could think of to the way I felt with this man.
"You... Nathan… what are you doing here?" I quickly grabbed the blanket to cover myself as I slid off the bed. Not wanting to be near that devious man. "What happened last night?" This situation could not be happening to me. What did I do wrong? Was this my punishment? "Did you drugged me?"
I peeked behind the sheet and breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that I was still fully clothed from last night. My sight shifted to the man now fully awake, shaking his head while smirking. A definitive "NO" was his answer.
My eyes traveled from his face to his naked chest, devoid of clothing, proudly displaying its superb physique. Luckily, he was still wearing something covering his lower region. I found his shirt carelessly lying on the side table and tossed it to his delectable form. Argh, stop doing that. I scolded myself.
"Please cover yourself up." I scanned my surrounding, looking for my shoes and a way out.
He stood up, not bothering with the shirt, stretched his arms, and deliberately flexed his chest muscles, clearly enjoying himself at my expense. I gathered my wits and composed myself, facing him with much dignity I could muster.
"I don't recall anything after leaving the bar, and you take me to my room. I have no idea how I ended up here at your room, but I don't intend to find out." Running my hands through my messy hair. "Thankfully, nothing happened last night." I took a deep breath as relief enveloped me. "I hope we could forget all about this unfortunate incident." I hurriedly added.
"Wow! That's a mouthful." He made a snide remark. He just stood there looking at me as if I just lost my mind. From the way my mind and body were reacting to him, I thought I might have.
I marched in his direction only to snatch my shoes just behind him and swiftly walked to the direction of the door, not wanting to stay a minute longer. Before I could reach my escape, he said something that triggered some memories I would rather I did not remember. I froze.
"You kissed me first, Scarlet," challenged evident in his words. I could sense him behind me, not touching but intimate. "What if I don't want to forget?" he whispered. A finger mildly grazed my bare shoulder, teasing me, bringing more memories upfront, causing further embarrassment of my uncharacteristic behavior last night. Again.
"Are you sure you don't remember anything at all?" He slowly moved in front of me, blocking my exit with his huge presence. "Or are you just playing dumb because you don't want to face the truth?" He challenged again.
I shook my head, denying his assertion but more of chastising myself for placing myself in this situation for the second time.
"Before you accused me of an unscrupulous act, let me clarify things in that pretty little head of yours." His fingers continued their assault to my senses as he played with the loose locks of hair just above my chest.
"I'm not interested, and I don't care." Not wanting to stay any longer and hear his explanation, I pushed him as hard as I could, but it proved ineffectual. In the end, it only placed me in a more awkward position. Feeling his bare skin beneath my palm sends a new wave of electricity and tension in my body.
He took hold of my wrist, trapping me in place. "Yes, I escorted you out of the bar but brought you here instead. You were so drunk that I could not in good conscience leave you out there to fend for yourself." He appeared to be genuine but looking through his eyes was a bit uneasy. Gone was the usual antagonism and in its place was something more of a concern. It reminded me of the night he first kissed me. However, it was a fleeting moment because if I had closed my eyes for a second, I would have missed it.
"What happened next was all of your doing? Not that I am complaining." He let go of my hand and played again with the tendrils of my hair just above my breast. His voice was back to its arrogant tone. "I would've taken what you're offering last night, but there would be no satisfaction in that." I know he was goading me, waiting for my reaction.
The way his smile widened, I could guess that he was enjoying what he was seeing. I would not allow myself to be humiliated any further. "Whatever happened last night was probably the alcohol acting out. I don't usually get drunk. Honestly, I don't drink that much." I explained immediately.
"... until last night," he interjected, raising his brows. Obviously, he was amused with my discomfort but still doubting what I was saying. "… and the other time."
"Yes... but it does not excuse my actions, I know. Rest assured that it will never happen again." I quickly stated.
"And, I assure you that I get what I want. And... What... I... Want... Is... You." Emphasizing the last sentence with a thick lustful voice, as he whispered it against my ears, creating shivers in my spine.
"In your dreams," I said with full disdain that I could muster. Trying to fight what I was truly feeling, which was quite the opposite. "That will never happen."
"I'll be waiting," grazing slightly soft lips against my cheeks before pulling away. "But, I will be fully awake when that happened." Full of confidence, he moved away from me. "And you will be too," gesturing for the door. I took it and made my way out, wanting nothing to do with him.
