Arcin sat down closer to the group she made sure the hood remained over her face. "So, you're the one he was talking about the person that was well versed in fighting."
"I've never seen you here before I believe. Have you ever watched something like this?"
"Mmm… I wouldn't say that I'm well versed I just know a thing or two. I have watched something similar to this though, but it more due to the fact I have a fair amount of experience in fighting." She replied looking at the new contenders. "I came to the city fairly recently and walked by this place a fair number of times and was intrigued so I came in to find this going on."
"Well, you definitely came at a good time. This tourney today is filled with a wide array of competitors today. There's students of the earth master, a fair number of out of towners and a few high Indigtor's from town."
"So, it's quite a mix today then. You've seen these a lot, right? Would you say it would be hard for challengers then?"
"Hard to say, but usually with this kind of mix, it's usually an interesting fight. Though personally, I wouldn't want t go up against a student of the master they're usually tough stuff."
"So, the earth master must be too then. How do people beat them then?"
Another man then spoke up at that point turning to look at me. "Well, it is hard but the master is able to match near your level and such."
"Level matching? How is that possible. I never heard of something like that."
"Well, there are skills that make it possible to do that but nowadays people typically use tech to do it now as it's a little more consistent since the skills break without proper concentration. Before it was made there were a lot more injuries during this."
"I see. Some advance tech you got here that's for sure."
"Where are you from? All the master's use it and it's often used for sparing or during training."
"Terra that's where I'm from. It's an extremely far away land. People from where I'm from typically don't interact or let outsiders near us. However, some… piacular circumstances have brought me here."
"Is that why you cover yourself in such a way?"
"You can say that. But honestly, it's more habit at this point I am well known back home so I'm more used to doing this now."
Another man this one dark turned Arcin. "If you've never heard of the limiter, how do you train people? You're a fighter, right?"
"We just hold back. We gauge our opponents and if you are a teacher, it's the same but in the fight, you gauge them to decide if they pass or not. That's how my clan does it at least."
"Clan?"
"Yep, it's how things are run in terra. Those in clans get trained in some way shape or form and clans do a wide array of things." Arcin explained. 'Though a fair amount of what the clans are and what we do is unknown in terra. But it's controlled by the 7 major clans with the Lynch clan being considered the most dangerous and black sheep of the 7 since we deal with the underbelly and the like.'
Arcin turned her attention back to the fight in front of her. "So, what do you guys know about these 2?" she asked as she glanced the two people over quickly. Arcin thought one was likely a mage or magic-user due to the staff, and the other a brawler.
"The brawler is an Indigtor. While the mage is a student of the earth master here. So, what do you think?"
"Mmmm it's hard to say when magic is the mix it will likely come down to the person's magical ability."
Arcin watched closely tuning out the men around her watching what they did. However, the longer she watched the more displeased she was. "The mage… when the brawler gets close is completely defenceless. It's such a large gap." Arcin growled not pleased with what she was seeing.
"What wrong?"
"Mmm, if this were a battle to the death, that mage would have died at this point back in Terra. I understand magic is the strongest thing for a mage but not knowing any close combat techniques leaves a large opening and you can't always rely on your teammates. There are times that you might be overrun, if that happens the mage gets overrun it's over. Spells take time and I can assure you they won't always be effective. You should know a small amount of close combat in order to escape quickly." Arcin replied shaking her head.
"But wouldn't that just make them a magic knight."
"No, a magic knight is proficient in both magic and a weapon a knight uses. They have both mana and weapon skills o use. Just picking up a weapon doesn't give you the skills that can be used with the after all."
"Whose goanna win in your opinion right now."
"Even with my qualms about the mage is will likely be them. The brawler is taking too much damage and I can tell they are getting worn out, the mage has the energy to spare."
"So, what do you guys know about the coming fights?"
"The next one is between another brawler and a swordswoman. After that apparent, a new challenger appeared they're to fight a spearman. But nothing is known about this new challenger."
"I see. I'd like to stay a little longer, but this fights about over, and I got something I need to take care of very soon. I'll return later but enjoy the next couple of fights." Arcin said as she got up for her seat in the stands and begun to make her way down and back into the coliseum towards her room. As she got closer, she heard the eruption of shocked gasps. Arin turned to look at the monitor mounted on the wall to see the brawler pierced through the chest with a stalagmite. Arcin hummed looking away from the screen before continuing forward.
