Chapter 3 - New People

A little bit after seeing the girl from the bus, I saw another student which I immediately recognized from the bus as well, the man who refused to give up his seat, sat in the seat with the name "Koenji" on it.

Not even a minute after Koenji sat down, students seemed to distance themselves from him. Koenji had his legs on his desk and was doing his nails as well, at this point more than half the class was avoiding him.

The first bell rang and soon after that, a woman entered the classroom. She had long hair tied into a ponytail and seemed to be a very strict person.

It was pretty obvious that this woman was our homeroom teacher.

Teacher: "Good morning students, I'm the instructor for Class D. My name is Chabashira Sae and I will be acting as your homeroom teacher for the next three years. It's a pleasure to meet all of you. I will now distribute written materials with information about this school's special rules as well as the registration guide."

Well, this is interesting, students are obligated to live in dormitories located on the school premises and are in no way, shape, or form able to have contact with anyone outside the school. The students themselves aren't able to leave school grounds.

Some students may not like not being to exit the school, but the school came equipped with many things such as a karaoke spot, restaurants, a theater, and a lot more.

Chabashira: "I will now proceed to hand out your student ID cards. With your ID you can buy absolutely anything in this school. Your ID acts like a credit card therefore it can be used simply by swiping it through the machine scanner."

The points on the cards are the same as money.

Chabashira: "Points are automatically given at the start of each month. You all should have received 100,000 points already. Keep in mind, one point is equal to one yen."

Everyone was shocked at what Chabashira just told us.

However, I could easily tell that something was wrong. Why would the Japanese government give this much money to high schoolers?

Chabashira: "Suprised by the number of points you've all received? This school measures the ability of its students. Since all of you passed the entrance exam you've already shown some level of merit."

Chabashira scanned the room of surprised students.

Chabashira: "Well, there appear to be no questions. I hope you enjoy your time here as students."

After she said that, she left the room.

???: "Guys, can I have a minute of your time?"

Once again I was snapped out of my thoughts by a male student.

???: "I wanted us to introduce ourselves so we get to know each other, does anyone else agree?"

As soon as he said this, all the girls appeared to agree with him.

???: "Thank you, I will go first. My name is Hirata Yosuke, you're free to use my first name if you would like to. I like sports, but I mainly like to play soccer and plan to play it here. Nice to meet you!"

After he was finished it seems all the girls were interested in him. All it took to catch the girl's attention was a pretty face and being social. Mentioning sports can easily multiply your popularity.

I can easily see him becoming a central figure in the class and even possibly leading us.

Hirata: "I would like everyone to participate, anybody wants to go next?"

After Hirata said that, a nervous girl seemed to contemplate if she should stand up or not. Ultimately, she decided to stand up.

???: "M-My name is Inog-ashira K-ko-"

She seemed to be extremely nervous and kept on stuttering her words. Some of my classmates said it was okay and told her to take her time however that seemed to backfire since it seemed like minutes before she finally finished.

Inogashira: "My name is Inogashira Kokoro. Um, my hobby is sewing and I am good at kitting. Please take care of m-me."

Thanks to Inogashira's introduction many students were now motivated to stand up. A cheerful girl stood up and started speaking.

???: "I would like to go next!"

I took a look at the girl who said this and immediately recognized her from the bus. She tried to help the elderly woman find a seat.

???: "My name is Kushida Kikyou, none of my friends from middle came to this school, so I would like to be friends with everyone here!"

She seems like the type of person to get along with everybody and makes sure nobody is left out...is what a normal person would think.

Kushida: "After we're finished with introductions, I'd love for us to exchange contact information!"

I could immediately tell something was off about her, she's most likely acting friendly with everyone to lower their guard with her.

However, I don't understand why she would do this or what she's planning. I may want to pay close attention to her, I will use her, if necessary.

Kushida: "Afterschool and during vacations, I'd like to make many memories with all of you, so please feel free to invite me to any events. I've spoken a lot, so I'll end my introduction here."

After Kushida was finished talking, a male student stood up.

???: "I'm Yamauchi Haruki. In elementary school, I played table tennis at the national level, then was the baseball club's ace in middle school. I had uniform number 4, but since I got an injury during Inter-High recently, I am currently in rehab. Nice to meet ya."

This guy is a complete liar. The uniform 4 doesn't mean anything. The Inter-High is for high schoolers only, so middle schoolers can't do it.

After Yamauchi introduced himself, another male student stood up.

???: "I'm Ike Kanji, I like beautiful girls and I hate ikemen. I'm currently looking for a girlfriend, so nice to meet you! You have to be cute or beautiful of course."

He seems like the ignorant type. The most likely scenario is that he falls for someone like Kushida.

Of course, Ike ended up getting teased by the girls and made himself look like a bigger idiot by thinking that the girls were being genuine with what they said.

I could use this to my advantage, despite Ike appearing like an idiot, he was easily able to say something that most people wouldn't because of fear that they would get bullied.

I'll give him credit, he didn't hesitate at all.

The next person was Koenji.

Koenji was using his comb and looking at a mirror.

Hirata: "Um, can you introduce yourself please?"

Koenji: "Fuu, alright"

He stayed seated, unlike the other students that introduced themselves.

Koenji: "My name is Koenji Rokusuke. The only heir to the Koenji conglomerate, therefore I will be a man leading Japan in the near future. Pleased to meet you, ladies."

Instead of directing his introduction to the entire class, he chose to direct it to the females in our class and it seemed to have worked.

Some of the females looked at him like he was crazy, but others looked at him with glittering eyes at the thought of all that money. I'm not surprised, money can easily influence people.

Hirata: "Um, the next person, please introduce yourself."

As I was snapped out of my thoughts, I realized all eyes were on me.

Introductions can be crucial for a person's future. I stood up.

Light: "Hello everyone, my name is Yagami Light. I have played tennis for a few years now, but I don't plan to play any sports for now. I hope to get along with all of you. Thank you."

After my introduction, I seemed to have attracted the attention of a few females. I didn't give it that much thought.

(Timeskip)

A few minutes after I left the classroom, I went to a store to buy some necessities.

As soon as I entered, I spotted my neighbor.

Neighbor: "What an unpleasant coincidence."

Light: "There is no need to be rude, we sit next to each other after all. May I at least know your name?"

Neighbor: "Fine, it's Horikita Suzune."

Horikita? That can either mean she's the little sister of the student council president or they have the same last name. Though the second theory seems unlikely.

I could ask her, but I already seemed to push Horikita by asking for her name.

I noticed she was picking the cheapest items, just as I figured, Horikita is smart.

I proceeded to choose the cheapest items as well and noticed a shelf that had free items.

Well, isn't that interesting? Why would students need free items when they get 100,000 points each month?

My thoughts were interrupted by yelling.

???: "HEY SHUT UP! I'm looking for it! Just give me a damn minute!"

I looked in the direction of the voice and saw a red-haired individual which I recognized to be a classmate.

It seems that people were telling him to hurry up, but it didn't appear as if he had his student ID.

Light: "Hey, if you don't have your ID, I don't mind paying."

I proceed to pay for his items as well as mine. I leave the store with him.

???: "Thanks man, I owe you one. My name is Sudou."

Light: "Nice to meet you Sudou."

Sudou proceeded to eat some ramen and even offered me some, but I declined.

Suddenly, three upperclassmen started fighting with Sudou and made fun of him since he was placed in Class D.

After they left, Sudou kicked a trash can out of frustration and left without saying another word.

I decided it would be better to pick up the trash as opposed to just leaving it there.

(Timeskip)

I entered my dorm and proceeded to look around my room.

I sat on the chair that was positioned next to a desk and proceeded to think about the things I learned today.

The point system has something else to it. If we get 100,000 points a month which is equivalent to 100,000 yen then why would we need free items?

Not to mention, do all classes get 100,000 points each month, or do higher classes get more?

I doubt that higher classes get more than 100,000 points, even if the Japanese government is the one giving us points why would they give us that much unless-

Light: "Hahahaahha"

Why didn't I see it sooner? The school can easily lower the number of points each class gets!

I must say this school is really interesting...
