A few days had passed since the entrance ceremony and I must say most of my classmates disappoint me.
There would often be students on their phones during class or talking with each other about something completely unrelated to what we were learning.
Some students even skipped class since the teachers wouldn't say anything and only a few paid attention.
As for me, I would often stare out the window and possibly wonder if another Death Note would fall from the sky, of course, that never happened.
I was in class with a few other students during lunch. I didn't feel hungry and I haven't talked with anyone these past few days besides Horikita.
It seems like Horikita found it funny that no one has invited me to lunch.
Horikita: "Wow, it's pathetic."
Light: "What are you referring to?"
Horikita: "You're practically sitting there, begging anyone to invite you to lunch."
Light: "Aren't you the same?"
Horikita: "Hmph, don't compare me to you."
Alright, this is just getting boring.
I stood up and made my way to the library, that way I'd have something to do.
When I was in the corridor, I was immediately approached by Kushida.
Kushida: "Ah, Yagami, right?"
Light: "Yea, can I help you?"
Kushida: "Well, you seem to be very close to Horikita."
Light: "No, she's just another classmate."
Kushida: "Ah, well she only ever talks to you. I want to be friends with everyone and I asked everyone individually for their contact information, but Horikita refused to tell me hers."
Light: "Well I'm not too surprised, Horikita, isn't the social type."
Suddenly, Kushida got close to me and held my hands.
Kushida: "Can you help me become her friend?"
Light: "Sorry, I don't know Horikita that well.."
Kushida: "It's alright, sorry for asking this out of nowhere."
Light: "It's alright, well if that's all you wanted to say then I'll be going."
I left since it didn't seem as if Kushida would say anything else.

I arrived at the library.
I gotta say the library looks amazing.
I decided to look around for any books that may interest me.
Even though people say "don't judge a book by its cover" I typically tend to do that.
At first, I seemed to be the only student here however I automatically spotted a lone girl struggling to reach a book.
I also spotted a stool, but she seemed reluctant to use it. I decided to help her get the book.
I reached for the book and pulled it out of the shelf.
She seemed a bit startled at first and she looked at me.
Light: "Why is this book here?"
The book is in the completely wrong section of the library, a worker or someone that may have checked it out could've possibly misplaced it.
I gave the book to the girl.
???: "Thank you."
Light: "No need to thank me, besides you have to have a pretty good eye to catch a book that is misplaced here."
???: "Thank you, I was just trying to put the book where it belongs."
Light: "Do you like books by this author, Bronte?"
???: "I read some of her books and enjoyed them."
Light: "If you haven't, I would recommend ending the book you have in your hands, actually, I just realized I didn't catch your name."
???: "Oh, sorry, my name is Shiina Hiyori, from Class C, and you?"
Light: "My name is Yagami Light from Class D."
Shiina: "Nice to meet you Yagami, I'll think about reading this book."
Light: "I was looking for a few books to read, do you have any recommendations?"
Shiina: "I would recommend books by Raymond Chandler, but his books seem to be popular with the upperclassmen, so you'd be lucky to find a book by him."
Light: "I've read two books by Raymond and I enjoyed them, I'm more interested in the horror and mystery genre."
Shiina: "Well, I could lend you some books, only if you'd like that of course!"
Shiina appeared to be a bit embarrassed, she may not have someone to talk to about books.
Light: "If it wouldn't be a problem, could you lend me some books?"
Shiina: "Of course, it wouldn't be a problem at all."
Shiina proceeded to hand me 5 different books from her bag, I was a bit surprised by the number of numbers she had.
Light: "Thank you, this will be more than enough."
I and Shiina proceeded to talk about books for a few minutes afterward however I realized the bell was about to ring, so I said goodbye to Shiina, with plans to go to lunch with her the following day.

For the last period, we made our way to the swimming pool.
Sudou: "Yagami, what are you doing standing around? Get over here and join us!"
Light: "Alright"
I made my over to the three idiots which consisted of Sudou, Ike, and Yamauchi.
The name is a courtesy of the girls, of course.
Yamauchi and Ike were considered perverts while Sudou was known for being violent and hot-headed.
We made our way to the boy's locker room and got changed.
We were the first ones in the pool so we had to wait for the females and the teacher.
Ike: "Man, where are the girls?"
Light: "They're still getting changed, you'll have to wait a while before they come out."
Ike: "I want to see some boobs!"
Honestly, I wasn't concerned about staring at our classmate's breasts, but these guys acted as if it was the end of the world.
The girls came from the locker room and immediately got the attention of the three idiots.
The three idiots proceeded to talk about perverted things which immediately made them get disgusted looks by all the females.
I decided it would be wise to stay far away from them as much as possible.
Hirata invited me to swim with him and his group which I accepted. We ended up doing a bit of a race, trying to see who was a faster swimmer.
I ended up winning and got to know my classmates a bit better. I talked with a girl named Sato as well as Kushida, Mei, and Matsushita.
I noticed that Horikita didn't swim at all and decided to talk with her.
Light: "Hey aren't you gonna swim?"
Horikita: "I find it utterly pointless to do that."
Light: "Alright, you don't have to swim if you don't want to."
Horikita: "Don't you find it pathetic that everybody is swimming without a care in the world?"
Light: "Well, that's their decision and it might be a bit better to live in the moment as opposed to worrying about something the entire time."
With that, I finished my conversation with Horikita and went swimming with my other classmates again.

Classes had ended for the day and it appeared to be the same as any other day. Some students didn't even appear while others gave no attention to the lesson we were learning.
Horikita: "The school is lenient, students may due as they wish and there are no repercussions."
Light: "That does seem to be the case, the teachers don't seem to care at all."
That was a lie, I already knew why the teachers weren't doing anything.
Horikita: "For a school supported by the Japanese government, it doesn't seem to be strict. Not to mention, 100,000 points each month seems too little extreme."
After Horikita said that, I decided to pack up and go home.
On my way, I spotted Kushida.
Light: "Hey Kushida, are you going to the dorms?"
Kushida: "Yea, mind if I tag along?"
Light: "You're welcome to if you'd like."
With that, we started making our way to the dorms.
Kushida: "Being friends with Horikita will be more difficult than I thought."
I remembered how Horikita denied invitations to go to lunch with Kushida and her group.
[Flashback]
I was in the classroom along with Horikita and a few other students during our lunch period.
Kushida and her friends were about to exit the room until Kushida told them to wait a bit longer.
Kushida: "Hey Horikita, do you wanna come with us to the cafe-"
Horikita: "No thank you."
Kushida: "Are you sure?"
Horikita: "I already gave you my response."
With that, the girls Kushida was with, told her to hurry up and even went as far as to say that they dislike Horikita.
Horikita didn't seem fazed by their remarks and kept eating her sandwich.
[Flashback End]
Kushida: "This school is amazing, it has everything you need. 100,000 points each month is more than enough."
Light: "Honestly, it's a little too much, something like 20,000 or 25,000 points a month should suffice."
Kushida: "I'll try to organize my spending more, so I only buy what I need."
That reminded me of someone else...
Light: "That's what Horikita appears to be doing."
Kushida got in front of me and leaned forward.
Kushida: "So you know how Horikita spends her points?"
Light: "I was with her when she was buying what she needed."
Kushida backed away a little
Kushida: "I see..."
We kept on walking to the dormitories where I bid farewell to Kushida.
I opened my door and laid down on my bed.
Today was a good day, I spoke with many different people and I might be able to consider them as 'friends' very soon.
With that, I decided to read a book that Shiina lent to me before I went to sleep.
(Timeskip)
We were in class again however this time the mood of the class was different. 1 month after the entrance ceremony and we haven't received our points.
I saw that I still had a bit over 80,000 points remaining. Just as I expected, we weren't gonna get any more points anytime soon.
The bell rang and Chabashira walked in. As soon as she did she was bombarded with questions asking where our points were.
Chabashira: "I can assure you, everyone has received their points."
Yamauchi: "But, we haven't received anything...."
Koenji started laughing.
Koenji: "I think I solved the mystery, the reason we haven't received any points is that we're Class D."
Yamauchi tried to refute back however he was quickly shut down by Koenji.
Koenji: "I don't remember hearing we'd get 100,000 points each month."
Koenji then directly asked Chabashira if she said that however, she denied ever saying it.
Hirata: "I don't understand sensei, can you please explain to us why we haven't received any points?"
Chabashira chuckled.
Chabashira: A total of 98 absences and late arrivals. 391 cases of students using their phones or talking during class. You're all pathetic. In the end, the school measures its students and judges them based on their actions. You're all judged to be worth nothing, so you get nothing."
As I suspected, this school is interesting.
Hirata: "Wait, but sensei, you never told us."
Chabashira: "Shouldn't you have already learned all of this in middle school, did you think there were no repercussions based on your actions?"
Hirata: "I-"
Hirata seemed at a loss for words. What Chabashira just said is true, we should've all expected there to be consequences based on what we did.
(Timeskip)
The entire class seemed to be freaking out because they didn't have enough points to last them through the month.
I wasn't concerned about my points at all I was happy with the number of points I still had.
Not to mention, if we failed our exams from now on, we would get expelled automatically.
This may be a problem for some of my classmates, but I didn't think too deep into it.
And thus, another day passed.
