Its been 5 days since Dmitri dropped off his brother, Alexander, in my apartment and two days since Bianca showed up at my doorstep crying.
'Am I always gonna be dressed in my embarrassing pajama when someone shows up at me doorstep, unannounced might I add?' I think to myself.
She's been sleeping over ever since. She's also received a lot of calls from Jason, but she doesn't pick them up, so that resulted in Jason calling my phone too, demanding to speak to her.
Which I didn't allow and told him if he had anything to say to her, he should do so face to face, instead of talking through a phone and hiding behind it like a coward.
I had returned to only work yesterday because I was still "grieving the death of my cousin and had to organise and attend her funeral". I asked for all my shifts at work to be less than 7 hours in the mornings from Monday to Friday and night shifts on the weekends.
Every time I'm on my lunch break, I come back home and check on Alexander.
When I arrive at home in the afternoon, Bianca would still be at work so today I was shocked to see her there. But she wasn't alone.
There stood Dmitri in front of her while pointing a gun to her head, demanding to know who she was. And in front of him was a very calm bianca acting as if a gun is not being pointed at her.
"Dmitri?"
"Oh, thank God El. You're here. Can you tell this bastard that I live here. And tell him to drop the freaking gun." She says to me but her eyes still trained on the gun in front of her.
"You live here? Since when?"Dmitri asked
"Okay, okay guys. Let's all breathe. You know deep breathes. Breathe in, breathe out, in and out."
"What the f-!" They both yell at the same time, but I cut them off from finishing that sentence.
"Shhh, okay. Sorry, its just a force of habit for me to say that whenever I'm in situations like these. Um...Dmitri, can you drop the gun please?"
"No, not until I know who this woman is."
"Well, this woman is about to punch you in the face. I might just add on to the other bruise on your jaw."
I snicker at that comment, knowing very well that I caused that bruise.
"Who is she, Elaine?" Dmitri asks, obviously getting irritated now.
"She's my friend. The one I told you about"
"Oh, the one you spilt your guts out about our private conversation that was meant to stay between the two of us? That friend?"
"Yeah" I whisper
"Will you get your gun out of my face?" Bianca asks with a raised eyebrow.
Dmitri slowly places his gun back in the gun holster and covers it with his shirt before letting out a frustrated sigh.
"How's my brother doing?" He asks.
"He's okay" is all I say back.
"So Dmitri, you're the dude that dragged my friend into this mess of yours you call a life?" Bianca asks with her arms crossed over her chest.
All she receives from him is a cold glare as an answer.
"So what are you? Are you a gangster, or are you in the mafia 'cause I'm hella sure you're not a cop?"
"Think whatever you wanna think, Bianca..." he says her name extra long, like: Beeeeeeeeanca.
"But I don't really care"
"I thought you said you wanted to get to know the 'mysterious person' I told about our conversation, Dmitri" I say
"Well, not anymore."
"Then, what are you still doing here? Get out!" Bianca yells
"This is not even your apartment, The last time I checked" Dmitri yells back smugly, his face slightly turning red now.
And that was when they got into a full blown argument.
I let a sigh and slowly trudge towards the other room to check up on Alexander.
"Okay guys, you're getting too loud." I say to them after noticing that their arguing had not stopped when I step back into the living room but has become louder.
But they don't hear me, or maybe they do but choose to ignore me.
"Shut up! Shut up both of you!" I yell at both of them, now angry and step in between them to create some space between them.
"Damn, girl. I knew you were short but I didn't realise you were this short." Bianca says while looking down on me.
"I agree with her." Dmitri also says.
They're both looking down on me now that I realise it. My head only reaches Dmitri's chest and only reaches Bianca's shoulder.
"That doesn't matter, right now!"
"Aww, aren't you a cute little baby." Dmitri says and pinches both my cheeks.
"Yes you are." Bianca joins in and ruffles my hair.
"Go to hell." I say to the both of them, while sticking up my middle finger and moving away from them.
"I'm gonna get going now." Dmitri says while pointing to the door.
"Are you sure? You can stay for lunch... And maybe get to know Bianca."
While I was asking him this I could see from the corner of my eye, Bianca frantically shaking her head and mouthing 'no' and forming an X with her arms.
"I don't think he wants to stay El. He seems like a busy man and has got places to be-"
"But for you Elaine, I'll gladly stay" he cuts her off
"I mean I wouldn't want to get punched in the face again." He adds and winks at me.
"Woah, woah, hold up. It was you who caused that nasty bruise on his jaw?" Bianca asks, pointing a finger at me.
"Um, yes" I reply
"Damn girl. I guess I taught you well" she says and bursts out into laughter.
She turns to Dmitri and says in between her laughter. "I can't believe you were hit by a girl, Mr I'm so scary, I carry a gun with me."
"Shut up" he mutters
"Are you blushing? Oh my gosh you are!" I scream out pointing at his now slightly pink cheeks.
This only causes Bianca to laugh even more.
She laughs so hard that she kneels down on the ground and clutches her stomach, while tears run down her face.
Dmitri glares at me and places his hands over his cheeks and that just made him look like a cute embarrassed little boy that was caught by his crush farting.
"I think you and Bee will get along just fine." I say
"Never!"
"Not happening!"
They both shout at the same time.
