As Misa leaves Nameless's Mansion through the teleporter, she enters the town of Aza. The town is so secluded inside the forest that no monsters dare venture through it.
"Stop right there!" said a man.
"Oh? Are you talking to me?"
"Yes, you! Please show me your identification badge."
As she heard that, Misa remembered that she didn't bring any identification badge. She was so pissed by Nameless that she left all of her stuff at the Mansion.
"Umm... Is it possible to enter without an identification badge, Mr Guard?"
"I am very sorry, miss, but it's town regulation that to enter, you require at least an identification badge." said the guard.
"Edwin, She's with me." said a familiar voice.
"AH!"
Misa turned her back to see a familiar figure.
"You again!"
Nameless nudge onto Misa "For your own good, follow my lead." He then proceeds to walk to Edwin. In response, Edwin bowed to him and said, "It's nice to see you came back here, Mr Hero! How long was it two months? haha". Nameless stays silent, not signifying any distaste or favour.
"I would like to meet the Pelican."
"The town mayor, sir?" said Edwin.
"Yes, is she in town?"
"Of course, since Lycoris has been taken by the empire, we haven't had a place to go. It's good that The Mayor decided to remain here one day before Lycoris was taken. Close call, am I right?"
"I see, then that's good."
"Alright, please enjoy your stay, Mr Hero and Miss??"
"Ah, it's Misa, Mr. Edwin."
"Right. Miss Misa."
Nameless and Misa then gain access through the town's gate. As the gate opens, a beautiful yet simple town scenery presents itself. Nevertheless, Misa is not at peace. She worries heavily about Nameless's identity. She wondered and began to zone out.
"Watch Out, Misa," said Nameless.
"Huh?"
*Crash
Misa crashes onto a carriage filled with cabbages. Both she and the carriage fell and created a mess on the road.
"I'm very sorry, sir. Let me help you clean up," Misa said as she walked to the crash site.
Nameless grabs Misa's elbow.
"Wha-what do you think you're doing?"
"You're gonna create more mess, just sit over there. I'll handle it."
Not knowing how to respond, Misa stays silent and follows Nameless's suggestion. She sat near the crash site and looked at Nameless, helping the carriage owner.
"How much do I owe you, Krov?"
"Ah... It's okay, town hero. You needn't pay. You've done so much already for us."
"Alright then." Nameless reached into his pocket and took out 3 gold coins. "I only have this much. Sorry for the trouble." Nameless gave those coins to the carriage owner. The owner was overjoyed that he began to shed a tear. "I'm so grateful, sir hero. I hope you will continue to have the best day of your life."
"Misa."
"Eh?"
"You're dozing off quite often. Perhaps you're still sick?" Nameless asks as he sits beside Misa.
//What should I do? If I say that I am suspicious of him. Wouldn't that make me an ungrateful scum?
"If you still feel sick, feel free to enter the Mansion again. I need to do some 'work',." said Nameless.
"Work? What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean, Misa."
"You know what? I don't fucking get you!" Misa snapped.
"Why are you so nice? And Yet you massacre all the sinless slaves of the Skeleton Fort and Sin County!"
"What the hell are you trying to achieve? You, hypocrite bastard."
"Why didn't you spare those slaves, just like you cherished and saved the people in this town."
"Tell ME WHY!?" Misa screamed so loud that bystanders turned their eyes towards Misa and Nameless. However...
"Mr Hero !" a guard runs approaching Nameless.
"What's wrong, Paul?"
"The Mayor has terrible news. Please come to the town hall at once.." the guard whispers.
"Just as I thought."
Nameless took out a key from his pocket and said to Misa. "Here's the key to the Mansion. I must go now."
[Order: Zephyr Flight]
Currents of Wind gathered around Nameless, and he began to levitate. The crowds were in awe seeing Nameless's actions. He then flew in the direction of the town hall at an extreme speed.
"What the hell?" said Misa.
***
Nameless went inside through the Mayor's window at the town hall, bringing along a great air current. Creating quite a mess in the Mayor's office. The Mayor, however, didn't stagger at all. She seemed unsurprised.
"Nameless... I guess you already sensed what has happened?" said a woman in her 30s to Nameless, that had already placed himself sitting in front of her desk, with one leg on top of the other.
"Mayor Pelican, As I suggested earlier this month. The sudden exports of human slaves via goblin troops wasn't a coincidence, " Nameless said in his forever monotone voice.
"Firstly, it's Felika, not Pelican, and care to explain more in detail about your findings, Nameless?"
"The human trafficking business has been quite popular in this land since the D-Break. Sin County was the main target for these exports since it's a city solely built on night-live tourism for monsters. That wretched place, of course, has already been burned to dust, ruining the economic prospect of human trafficking."
"I see where this is going. So it's very weird for them to do human trafficking again from inside the Darknessborn Empire, let alone assign goblins to protect the caravans," Felika said while looking at Nameless, assuming what she was saying was true.
"That is true. Even if they found a target market for human trafficking, they wouldn't assign goblins to protect their caravans," Nameless then puts his hand on his chin.
"Is it some sort of bait? If so, what do you think is their strategy?"
"You are correct. This is no doubt a setup by the Darknessborn Empire. To be precise, it's Lord Darkan's strategy."
"Darkan!? Are you serious?! THE Darkan? Rank 4th of The 10 Tartarean?"
"I met one of Darkan's slaves while patrolling nearby the town's forest. At first, I was conspicuous of her claim. Then I checked her cursed slave mark. Apparently, even with the strongest Light Order, I could use it. It wasn't enough to purify it."
"But that's just one of them, right? Surely this can't be a setup by Lord Darkan.."
"How are you so confident?"
Nameless removes his hand from his chin and turns his eyes to Mayor Felika. His gaze was intimidating. It was like he was staring down at her soul.
"No reason. As a mayor, it is my duty to be optimistic even at these times."
"Liar," Nameless said with a blank expression yet in a high tone.
"You can drop the act already, you imposter."
"What? What are you.."
"Firstly, Ms Pelican, I knew WOULD be surprised if I entered through her window like before. She is the type that never gets used to things like that."
"...."
"Secondly, Ms Pelican would never call me Nameless, nor would she be bothered by me calling her Pelican. It was our deliberate codename for our security, and thus you have exposed yourself."
"Lastly, I left Aza town two months ago. By that time, Ms Pelican began to take trips to Lycoris, signing a treaty between human countries in response to Darknessborn's attack. However, Edwin, the gate guard. Said you had remained here one day before the battle of Lycoris. No matter where you look at it, the usual meeting with Lycoris officials was not conducted at Lycoris. Rather a secluded place near it."
"So what is that supposed to do with anything?"
"My point is that if you hadn't already known, there would be an attack. You would have escaped and hidden inside that area now, would you? Since you are here, however, exactly one day before the meeting and the day of the attack. Must have been that you knew there was gonna be an attack, and you didn't know of the secret meeting place."
The Mayor grits her teeth and stares at Nameless ever so-blank eyes and minimal facial expressions. Making her more and more tested by anger.
BLAAM!
"Uhook!!"
Out of Nowhere, Nameless blasted the Mayor's chest, resulting in a hole in her chest as she flew down towards the wall of her office. Not long after, the city sirens went off.
