Because Bai Yutang promised his friend to taste his cooking, when Jian Kang Lu picked him up he told Jian Kang Lu that he wanted to go to the grocery store. On the way there, Bai Yutang told Jian Kang Lu about his day.
Jian Kang Lu just listened to his kitten's soft and clear voice that he adored so much chattering about his day. His kitten asked him about his day too. Jian Kang Lu answered and told him about his ordinary day. His day is monotone. Just work, and work.
When they chat, Jian Kang Lu sometimes strokes his kitten's hair, or kisses his kitten's slender hand. Sometimes Jian Kang Lu also asks his kitten what he learned in the lecture today. That way, it helps his kitten to memorise and organise the lecture in his brain. But if his kitten looks too tired, he won't ask.
"If you make lunch for your friends tomorrow, will i get one too?"
