Chapter 1 - Prologue

"Once upon a time, the Queen of Zargoza gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

The baby was named Amelia and the King held a grand celebration in honour of her birth. It was a wonderful celebration, where everyone in the kingdom rejoiced for the new Crowned Princess of Light!

But it seemed as though not everyone was pleased. Out lingering in the darkness was a witch of bad intent. Powered by hatred and disgust, she planned to steal the princess for her own.

So at the mid of night, when kingdom sleeps, she sneaked into the castle and stole the baby from underneath the Queen and Kings feet. And when the sun came to rise, their beloved Princess was no more.

An awful weeping and sorrow filled the King and Queens heart, but with resolution from council, they were forced to keep their child's loss a secret. With rising tensions from the Kingdom of Darkness, they could not risk a fatal blow for their kingdom.

However may tragic the loss of their child could be, they had to perform their duties as rulers of their kingdom. They needed an heir to their throne. And since the Queen can no longer bear another child, they appointed a knight to look for a girl who's hair is silver as coin, and eyes as yellow as sun.

In other words, a pure Zargozan child.

With no time to spare, the knight searched for such a child. And to a surprising success he found a young girl in the streets of the kingdom, begging at the feet of the knight for some food.

The young girl was taken into the palace to act and become as "Amelia, The Crowned Princess of Light". Though she had the silver hair and yellow eyes, she did not bear the birthmark of the royal family. The children the Romanov family have always been born with a birthmark of a lion on the right arm of their shoulder.

Clearly, as the girl was not of royal blood, and was not the true daughter of the Queen and King, she was never treated with the love. She was just there to fulfil her role as Amelia.

The girl's childhood was stripped and replaced with etiquette and high education. She was only six at that time.

A few years later, the girl, who came to be known as "Amelia", became spoilt and foul mouthed. She's been known to speak against the King and refuse orders from the Queen. In other words, she became quite the typical villainess of the story.

When she was appointed to enroll in the School of Light Magic, it took quite a premonition in order for her to accept the enrollment. Though her light magic was not as strong as the Queen's and the King's, she did her best not to nullify their name.

When she thought all was going well. She received a letter from the Imperial Palace, saying she is to be engaged to the Prince of Darkness. Though this displeased her, it did not stop her from accepting it. Since no matter what she says, it will not make a difference.

It was not long until the Prince of Darkness, Prince Arroyo was enrolled into the School of Light Magic, along with Princess Amelia. Unexpectedly, Princess Amelia grew to love Prince Arroyo.

But then one day, Prince Arroyo came to school with a strange girl in his hands. The girl had bright silver hair and eyes that looked like gold. And most surprisingly, she had a birthmark of a Lion on her right arm.

It was confirmed, that the girl, was clearly, the daughter of the Queen and King. The title of Crown princess was stripped off of Amelia and was given to the girl who claims her name to be Aurora.

Out of all the people Amelia thought would stand beside her, has fallen in love with someone else. Prince of Darkness, Arroyo, and the True Princess of Light, Aurora, were to be engaged on the day celebration. The day, Amelia was taken into the palace.

Fueled with hatred and vengeance, Amelia used the power within her to make a potion that will make everyone who was in close proximity to her, completely loyal to her. And who better to do it, than to the crown prince's loyal subjects? The people of the Kingdom of Darkness.

With the drop of her potion, an enormous fog covered the kingdom. Amelia may not have been strong in physical magic, but she knew how to make a good potion.

Within the night, Amelia was able to turn everyone in the Kingdom of Darkness bow their knees to her. And there, she started her wicked plan of war.

With the Prince of Darkness no longer on the throne of his Kingdom and with the Queen too sick to sit in power, Amelia was able to ascend as Queen of the Dark Kingdom without hesitation.

There the three year war between the Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of Darkness was born. But with the hidden potential of Princess Aurora's growing power, the Kingdom of Light was able to win the war.

Along with Queen Amelia and the rest of her subjects of the Kingdom of Darkness, Prince Arroyo banished them into the depths of the Nether Realm, a literal pit of doom.

The Kingdom of Light sufficed in the war and lived peacefully with their new queen and king, Queen Aurora Romanov and King Arroyo Romanov."

"And that's what happened. " Emily said as she leaned into her pillow.

"But why are you putting it into the perspective of Amelia? She has like the most uninteresting perspective in the story?" Maura, Emily's childhood friend, retorted.

"That's because she never deserved that ridiculous ending. She didn't even want to become a villain, the story just forced her too!" Emily replied, obviously getting a little worked up about it.

"Okay, okay! I'm just saying that Aurora's perspective is a lot better. She's got all the hot guys after her in the story. Plus there's a lot of sexy scenes in her perspective!" Maura explained as she let out a fan girly screech.

"If you call being a weak bitch who can't run properly and always needs a man to save her, "sexy", then obviously I'm taking the side of the villainess, who can actually get shit done instead of doing nothing other than looking pretty all the damn time, like that shame of a character, Aurora"

"Yeah, but Aurora ended up defeating the villainess in the end, plus she's the most powerful in the story."

"Yeah, but she only ended up using that power after literally millions of people got killed?!"

"I still think Auroras scenes are pretty hot. "

"Ugh whatever! "

Emily gave up on her little argument with Maura and proceeded to read the book again.

"Your reading it again? You've read it like twice already? " Maura exclaimed.

"Couldn't hurt to read it thrice." Emily replied.

Maura placed her arms onto Emily's bed, placed her head to rest on her hands and stared directly at Emily. Unlike Emily, who's skin was pale, Maura had dark brown skin. Maura was Italian who did not speak a word of the Italian language.

"What? " Emily asked.

"Your always like that. " Maura said. Tilting her head innocently.

"Like what? "

"Even when you weren't sick, you always had something to focus on, something to fix. Like fencing. No matter how good you were at it, you always had to find a way to get better at the sword, and you've thought of nothing but fencing during the seventh grade. "

"Yeah, well.... I guess it was the only talent I had. Fencing was a way to for me to relax, and feel as if I had control of the environment around me. "

Emily dropped her head down onto her book. She reminisced the days when she could stand and walk as much as she wished. Back to a time where she had control of her body and her actions.

"No one can control the environment around them Emily. It's actually the other way around--"

🎶Ring ring ring 🎶

"Ah shit! I gotta go. Don't wanna be late for school. I'll see you tomorrow!" Maura got up, picked up her bag and ran straight for the door like it was no tomorrow.

"Bye!" Emily screamed back. She remembered the time when she and Maura were both late for school. The both of them would end up running and out of breath when they reach the classroom. Though running caused Emily a great amount of pain, she had to bear with it, for at that time, she believed that the pain would just go away.

But now she's here. In a hospital bed, and the pain still hasn't gone.

She looked back at her book and she flipped the pages.

"Once upon a time... "
