The bus drive was quiet, long. Faye stared out the window the entire way. She hadn't known about it, about the drugs not even the money. She didn't deserve to be handcuffed to the bars in front of her on a prison bus. Nobody believed us though so we were sent to Black Fortress. A place I thought I left in my rear view mirror. I was a prisoner for four years in this shit hole. Faye had forgiven me, but I didn't know how. This wasn't something you easily forgive, I just think she doesn't know how to tell me what she's feeling. "What's gonna happen when we get there?" She asked inhaling as we saw the place just up the road. "Just stay by me. I won't let anything happen to you. If someone confronts you be tough but not stupid. Remember our only goal in here is to get out together, alright mama." I say latching onto her pinky finger with mine. "Whatever the guards are about to ask you to do just do. Don't say a word okay?" I warn her. She nods and the bus halts. "Okay ladies welcome home!! Let's get moving." The guard who rode with us says escorting us out of the bus. Outside was cold it was November, perfect hoodie season. I felt the cool air on my face as we got into line. My curly ginger hair was loose and swayed in the wind. Faye was shivering next to me, she never really liked the cold weather. After they called our names from a roster we were lead inside of the building. We walked down a hallway that lead to showers. "Everyone against the wall and strip." A different female guard says after unhandcuffing us from each other. She wore the typical guard black guard uniform. Her hair in a tight bun and had dark grey tenni shoes. We all removed our clothes and tossed them into bags with our name written on it along with the rest of our belongings. Faye kept her head up but I could see how uncomfortable she felt. She didn't like feeling vulnerable. "Okay in the box in front of you there are four changes of clothes, your basic shower kit, a towel, and a pair of shoes. Go shower and change. You've got ten minutes." She says, her name tag read Rebeca Morales. Faye looked at me as we showered next to each other. After we showered we took the belonging they gave us and followed Morales to our cells. Two prisoners per room. Everyone was separated but Faye was put in a cell next to mine. A recognized most of the prisoners from the hall ways. Unit W was the Hospital wing, unit X for outside work, unit Z for inside work. Units A-Q are prisoner cells, every cell has a toilet, each unit has six rooms so twelve prisoners. Units R, S, T or the showers, twenty showers. We got moved into my old unit, I. Right now everyone in our unit was at lunch so I went over to the cell Faye got. "Hey babe. Guess what?" I say giving her a hug while she made her mattress. "What is it?" She smiled hugging me back. "This is my old unit. I bet some of my friends are still here. Looks like Lexi hasn't moved her cell around since I've been gone." I chuckle looking around. "That's great actually. Now I can relax." She laughs. "We'll be okay babe you'll see." I say kissing her on the forehead. "Okay rules, if things haven't changed they're basic. Don't snitch to the guards, always listen to the Boss, they're always in charge. Don't cross anyone, don't steal. There is also a switch you pull for emergencies in every unit and the showers don't ever touch it." I explained while we sat on her bed. "Who is the boss? " she asks. "I don't know. I use to be but that was a year ago things may be different now." I say. "Who the fuck is in my room?!" I hear a familiar voice say as a group of girls came in. "For fucks sake! Guys Skyler's back!!" Lexi tells as she embraces my in a hug. My old friends Aroura, Mitchell, and Foxie crowed the room. "I want you all to meet Faye, she my girls so let's take care of her." I say hugging everyone. "Ok well first thing, rules pretty much haven't changed except for that you can't play basketball unless you're in Ivy's crew. She boss now." Aurora says. "You also can't sit at the round table, and she runs the green house." Lexi further says. "That's right Skylar." Ivy says standing outside the door with three of her crew. "Alright everyone out. Ima have a chat with the two of them." She says, they say goodbye and leave. I make eye contact with Faye who hadn't said a word. She was afraid I could see it. She was good at hiding it from everyone else. She had one tell, she slide her feet on the floor bearly enough to notice really. "Well hello to you to Ivy." I say and take a seat next to Faye as they entered the room. "Sucks to hear you're back in the place." She says squating down next to us. "I'm just here to ensure we wont have any problems coming from you." She continues. "None here. Just focused on getting out. Boss job is yours Ivy, no interest here." I chuckle. "Well that's a shame. Really felt like slicing you up doll." She laughed. "Yeah whatever Ivy. Just stay away from me and Faye. We're not gonna cause issues."I say rolling my eyes leaning back on my elbows. "Oh is Faye your name? You pretty thing so quiet I almost missed you." She said leaning closer to her. I stood up in front of Faye. "I said don't mess with Faye and I'd stay outta your way. So come on now we wouldn't want this to get nasty, would we Ivy." I say arms crossed over my chest. "No theres no need for that. Just do as you're told and everything will be just fine." She laughed then left with her girls. "See told you we're gonna be just fine." I say and hold her while I lean against the wall. "Are you tired love bug? Mm?" I say softly while I run my fingers through her soft black hair. She looked up at me with her green eyes and said, "I love you. I'm not gonna be able to sleep with you tonight." I slightly tighten my hold on her, "You'll be okay. I promise Lexi will keep you busy tonight. Probably talking about old stories, tell you how badass I am." I say and wink jokingly. She laughs and rest her head on my chest. "Okay ladies get by your cell for call." Morales called. "After call they lock the cells. I'll see you tomorrow love bug." I say kissing her. We stand up and go outside. "I'm Trish." The other girl I shared my cell said. "Skylar." I introduced. "As long as you don't bring drugs into the room we're good. I don't fuck with that shit." She says . Trish has light brown hair down to her tits and blue eyes. She looked to be around her forties and was tatted up on her left arm. "Lucky for you I don't fuck with that shit. " I say entering the room and doing the bed. She laid down and grabbed a book from a self above her head. I lay down and look to the ceiling. I haven't slept without Faye in so long. "Want to read a book mate?" She offered. "All 13 of them a long it'll take a while to get through them. You're welcome to it, just dont damage them and return them." She continues. I sit and nod, "sure thing." She tosses me one. I read up till the third chapter before I had fallen asleep. Each chapter had sixty five pages so it took me a while before falling asleep. Eventually my eyes got so heavy I couldn't keep them open any more.
Faye's Point of View:
After our cells were locked Lexi did exactly what Sky said she would. She started talking about the last time Sky was here. Apparently she had been Boss for two years before she got out. "She was insane!" I say astonished. She was the literal definition of badass. "Hey being Boss isn't easy. There is a lot that comes with the title. It gets hard at times. Not everything is just power in here." She explained. "How long have you been friends with her?" I wondered
Out loud. "I was the one who explained the rules to her." She replied. "I'm not what I should and shouldn't say but at the time a lady name Vicki was the boss. She brought in all types of drugs and sold the women who were in her crew. She was an awful person. Vicki and Skylar had issues all the time. Constantly fighting for control. Eventually Skylar won, in the end it just came down to who wanted it more." She shared. That night sleep hadn't come easy. I think I got about four hours at most.
