Chapter 5 - Kill or be Killed

I was rather pleased with my first functional weapon. I had never been the violent type, but I was also never the type to just roll over and take whatever the world throws at me. I practiced a few swings with my new spear until I could do a basic jab and a basic slash confidently. I was by no means a master but I was confident that if my target was at the same level as me but with a sword I could take them, although if they had a bow I was probably fucked.

Speaking of a bow, I could probably make one of those as well, although I would have to do that later, considering that as I was thinking about making a bow, a group of goblins was thinking of making me into a stew! I had looked up just in time to see a group of four goblins charge at me. I was nervous because I had never been in a life or death fight before but I wasn't just going to fall on my own spear. It was time to stand up for myself.

The first goblin to reach me was a bit taller than the others making it almost 5 feet tall. This goblin had a short sword in one hand and a dagger in the other and slashed with both. It was obvious that these goblins had no training because he slashed before he even got to where I had been. I move to the side and stabbed in between where his arms were and the bone spear tip slid into the goblin's heart like a hot knife through butter.

I was shocked at how easy it was to pierce through this goblin's flesh and bones. While goblins weren't strictly strong creatures, they were supposed to have unnaturally thick skin and hard bones compared to humans, and yet I felt no resistance at all. Getting distracted like this was a bad idea in combat, which I learned by getting a fairly deep gash by the second goblin across my back.

By the time that I had dispatched all four goblins I had only taken two hits in return, and both were from mistakes that could, and would, be avoided next time. I took one of the short swords and brought it back to me to the Final Test and had my A.I. run a test to see what metal it was. My phone had an adaptation so that I could insert mater in small amounts and it could analyse it.

[Material: Iron and unknown metal

Made of an alloy of iron and another unknown metal making it stronger than normal steel. This piece of metal is coated in a liquid that would be harmful to the human body if it were to enter the bloodstream. If it has already entered the bloodstream I suggest seeking immediate medical attention]

Even as the A.I. was making this statement I was already starting to feel woozy. I took the bone spear tip off of my spear before stumbling my way to the city using the staff to keep myself upright. I reached where the goblins had started getting attacked and I hesitated before taking another step and falling face-first. I don't remember what happened after that but I woke up in a dark room on my stomach with a weird feeling on my back.

I tried to move immediately because I couldn't tell where I was but a firm hand held me down and, surprisingly, spoke English, "Stay put or the antidote won't be able to fulfill its goal. Rest, and when you wake again we will speak." Startled I just nodded and layed my exhausted body back down onto the bed and got a surprisingly good rest. The bed wasn't exactly comfortable but it was better than sleeping in a metal chair or on a metal floor.

When I woke up the second time the weird feeling on my back was still there but I could move enough to touch my back now. That feeling was a bandage on the long gash that I had earned in my fight with the goblins. The gash on my arm was also bandaged but it looked like it had a paste under the bandage, probably what had helped me survive as long as I had.

Nobody was around so I sat up and I saw a circle around the bed that I was on, one the floor. It looked kind of like one of the circles you would see in a tv show when somebody uses magic, or a pentagram or something but I couldn't tell it's purpose so I stayed on the bed. Soon after sitting up I heard somebody opening the door. The door opened and revealed an elderly woman and two younger men armed and nervous looking.
