Having so many questions on his mind wondering, 'What should be his top priority concerning her treatment, clinic, and where he must take her to change the bandage.
All this is so new to him being anxious knowing he is going to be a father, 'Now, I cannot make her stress out, and avoiding mom is one way to do that.'
Thomas, felt as though his head was swelling with the many questions, of what he should do first. When the Doctor did speak all he said was, "He has a prescription for a course of antibiotics and pain killers."
He then gives Thomas a letter to take her to join the clinic, "You can take her home now."
"Are you saying, I can take her home?" Thomas notices the Doctor looking at him in an odd sort of way: with his brow lifted and his eyes glaring at him.
"Don't misunderstand me, Doctor, what I meant is, if there won't be any complications and if she will be safe because that is my main concern?"
"Yes, Mr. Fortune, you must get the medication I prescribe immediately and give her it because the anesthetic will wear out soon."
With the orderly pushing her, Thomas sees his dad with the coffee and a sandwich walking towards him. "Which ward are they taking her to, Thomas?"
"Dad, they are sending her home."
"But Son, you will not be able to take care of her properly." Thomas notices the Doctor looking at him.
"Yes, we can care for her."
"Son, the best place for her is the hospital."
"Dad please, she doesn't like Doctors neither being in the hospital. I am glad they have discharged her."
Whispering so the doctor won't hear him, "Now I can make amends for the family misconduct and ill-treatment and I could get some rest."
"Well, okay, at least Mrs. Marva will be there to take care of her."
"Dad you don't understand, I am not taking her back home, I am taking her to my apartment. I will attend to her, the family has done enough damages to our marriage.
And another blow like this will shatter any hope I have of making this marriage workable."
"Son, this is not a wise decision with her condition."
"Dad, it's just her hand."
Observing the way his father was looking at him then said, "Aren't you concerned about the baby Thomas? Son, there's no need to hide it from us any longer."
"Tell me, something dad, if you all knew about the baby, why is it that you all continue to stress her out?
And didn't you all consider for one moment, and care what might have happened to the baby, just look at her?
She is hurt and who knows if the fall might affect the baby in any way and since the incident with Jerome, she hasn't been eating."
"Son, that was a mistake on your mother's path, and we only learn of her pregnancy before I came here from Mrs. Marva.
We had no idea that the child was behind the door, and you know that your mother can be very protective at times."
"So are you saying that you didn't believe her when she said she was pregnant when we got married?"
"Thomas, I am not saying that but remember you told us your wife was a virgin, so how should we believe what she said or in that case you? Can a virgin be pregnant?"
Thomas laughs recalling all his Sunday School teachers telling him that Mary was a virgin. "What is the joke, Thomas?"
"Dad, wasn't Jesus' mother a virgin?"
"Okay, so you have made your point, but!"
"No buts dad, I am sorry, by a mom trying to control my life is not being protective, I specifically asked you to leave us alone.
And Christa was asleep because you fail to control Mom's behavior, now she is hurt.
Dad, she hates Doctors, and she has to face them every few weeks. I am not going to put her through that again.
When I asked her to marry me, I promise to give her anything that will make her happy, so our family reputation won't be smudged.
Because of the family's constant interference, I am unable to keep my promise."
"But Son?"
"Sorry Dad, I made a promise to her, and I must keep my end of the bargain."
Seeing the tiredness and concern on his father's face. "Dad, we will resolve this later, why don't you stay with us at the apartment tonight?
And tomorrow you will return home, the distance is too far for you to drive home alone tonight."

Afraid to open her eyes even to move or shift, so he won't be aware of her listening to him conversing with his dad.
But God the pain is increasing and becoming gruesome, if only I could get some sleep that might help.
Christa thought, 'I had begged the doctors not to say anything, thinking no one knew. I wasn't even aware of it myself.
At first, I was wondering why they didn't put me under the anesthetic. It was only when they examine me before giving the anesthetic, I realized that I am pregnant.
They had only injected the area to numb the spot, then they started to work on my hand but he is having a Son.
Our Son, hearing how concerned he was, I should appreciate what he has done. If only I could recall what had occurred that night between us, but nothing comes to mind.'
Opening her eyes as he drives, 'Where are we going? From what he said, does that mean he has a place of his own?
That will be good for a few days, but what will happen when he is not there to supervise his ranch?'
Unable to guess the time, since the numbness in the hand seems to be wearing out, it must be a good few hours.
The heaviness on my hand with the casting seems to bring about this severe pain and it is worsening by the minutes.
When her stomach growl, Christa only heard him say, "Dear God, she cannot take her pain killers on an empty stomach?"
Unable to bear the pain any longer, the groan escape from her lips, feeling his hand stroking her, which was reassuring and comforting?
Hearing him saying, "We are almost home, but I had to stop and get us a few things."
'Stop, what is he talking about, we didn't stop? Did I fall asleep? But for how long?' His word was lost, while I was trying to perceive exactly what was happening.
Unaware that the vehicle had stopped as if in a dream, I felt myself in his arm.
Mumbling a few words as if in a daze, Christa felt like her tongue was heavy and was having a difficult time trying to explain what she wanted to say.
The tears trickle down feeling lost and like an invalid, wondering 'What is happening to her?'
