Lucas could feel his lungs began to expand as he took a deep breathe, and exhaled slowly through his mouth. He felt his hands began to slightly shake while his palms became sweaty. His heart began to beat a little with anxiety as the butterflies in his stomach began to dance. While his eyes were close, he could feel all of them staring at him with anticipation.
"Just relax," he told himself as he could feel his nervous start to rise. "You're done this before. Just need to show her you're ready." He reminded himself as focused on his breathing again. After taking his last exhale, he slowly opened his eyes to look at his opponent.
He watched as her hair sliver hair blow with the light breeze. She was wearing yoga pants and a sports bra. He never realized how tone his mother was. Unlike Martha who had visible muscle or Amay who was more lean and flat, she was a mixture of the both with some lean muscles but not quite visible.
"She's waiting on me," he noticed as he saw that his mother had her arms cross with a blank expression on her face while eyes were closed. He couldn't help but find how she was morr eery then anything else he's seen. "It feels like I'm about to fight the final boss of a raid," He told him actually letting out a nervous chuckle.
Sitting on the porch a good distance away from the action, both Amay and Martha were waiting in anticipation. Amay was wearing the dress she went to visit Miss Turner with, while Martha was in a blue dress for the day. They agreed to watch this fight in support for Lucas, but at the same time pure curiosity.
"What do you think?" Amay inquired while brushing her pinkish-red hair back as a smile curved her lips. She could see her tall adversary trying to predict how this fight will go. Even with a blank face, Amay knew she didn't know.
"Hard to tell," Martha said in her monotoned voice.
"Do you think it will go like last time?" Amay asked while letting out a giggle. She was poking fun of how the brute was wrong last time she watched.
"Shut up," Martha told the short girl in her regular voice, but it was filled with venom. Her face turned a little red from her remembering it.
"Someone a bit feisty today," She snickered a little. "Anywho, he got this." Amay told her as she turned her attention back to the fight. She began to kick her feet a little as she waited in anticipation.
Martha looked at the short girl for a moment, and decided to bite. "Why do you this so?" Martha asked with a hint of curiosity.
"I can feel," Amay said without hesitating. "Have a little faith in him."
"Hmph," she made audible to her companion while crossing her own arms. "Goodluck, Lucas," The words stayed in her heard as a little worry did showed on her face.
As the breeze came passed through Lucas and Elizabeth, he took a single step forward. Then another. And another. With each step he took, he could feel the doorway of backing out get further and further away as he went towards her. He was scared mentally and could feel it run through his body, but he kept pushing forward. His walking soon turned into a sprint as he charged head first towards his mouth.
As his right foot touched the ground, he shifted his body and began to run a counter clockwise circle around his mom. He knew attacking her head on would end this match before it even started, so he needed to wait for the right moment to strike her. Seeing her stand there like a statue made him even more uneasy, but he couldn't help but felt excited.
Lucas ran around him mom for at least four more times until a light breeze came. "Now!" He told him as he quickly turned and ran towards his mom back. With another step, he pushed himself off of the ground and tried to kick her in the back with both his legs.
Elizabeth didn't say anything or even open her eyes. All she did was bend over as if she was touching her toes as her son went over her body only touching her hair that was following down.
As he went over her and came in contact with the ground, he turned his body to face the ground. Using his feet and hands to stop himself, Lucas got back up and went back towards his mom. He began to throw different punches at his mom and forcing her back.
Yet with every punch he throw and as he was pushing her backwards, Elizabeth just dodged them all and kept her footing as he was pushing her back. Her eyes remained close and even then she was doing them as if they were clear as day. To her each punch was like a push of air in her face and against her body.
"He's trying really hard," she thought to herself. She could hear it in his breathing and even the force behind his blows. With every step he made, she made an equal step back. Yet every punch he throw, she gracefully moved her body dodging it. To her, this was almost like a dance, she was leading him around.
"She's doing it," Lucas thought to himself as he was studying her moments and seeing a pattern starting to form.
-A day or two ago
A soft knock came to Martha's door . When she opened the door, she saw her brother looking at her with a concerned expression. This caused her to tilt her head slightly as she was trying to figure out what was wrong with him.
"Yes?" She asked in her monotoned voice.
"Sis. I need to ask you something. Privately." Lucas told her as he looked around making sure noone was around. "Please?"
A sigh left her mouth as she opened her door to allow him in. "Don't touch anything," she told him as she sat at her desk giving her little cactus some water.
"Thank you," Lucas said feeling a little nervous and relieved as he quickly came in and closed the door behind him. He noticed that the room smelled like a mixed of cherry and vanilla.
"What do you want?" Martha asked wanting him to get to the point and not waste her time.
"Right. I was wondering if you had any advice to get the edge on mom, for my final test with her." He begged a little. "Please. Any would be good."
"Why? Are you nervous?" Martha asked seeing the answer in his eyes. "There are none."
A could chill went down Lucas back by his sister's cold words. He wanted to say something, but the words vanished from his mouth. He just sighed and hung his head low a little. "Oh," He said defeated. "I figured it was pointless to try," He mumbled to himself as he turned around to leave out of her room.
Martha heart began to twist as she felt bad for her brother. "Wait." She told him before standing up.
Lucas watched as his older sister walked towards him and looked down at him a little. He could see her hazel eyes stare through him, but a kindness came from them.
"Mom is the best, but she doesn't know what you will do. So you can catch her off guard by doing something different." Martha said with a soft caring voice.
"What do you mean? How will I know?" Lucas said nearly on his toes too his sister, as if she gave him the key to very important information. He then felt Martha's hand on his head.
"That's all I can say," she told him kindly. She slowly began to push him back down the ground to give herself personal space. "Just watch how she moves and see if you can pick on a pattern." She said giving him a very small smile.
"Oh. Okay," Lucas said as his eyes went wide seeing her smile at him. "Thank you."
Lucas said as his voice trailed off back to the present moment as he slowly began to notice something.
Martha watch as she could see what he was doing. A smirk began to come across her face on the side Amay could see. "Come on. You can do it," She thought to herself as if she was saying it to him.
Lucas slowly and surely began to force his mom into a pattern of how he was moving. He would take a step with his left foot and throw his right hand, then he would step with his right foot and throw with his left hand. He kept this patterning going while his mom was fully unaware of what he was doing.
"Focus." Lucas told himself as he kept his partner going. "Focus. Not yet." He said as he tried to push his body to move fast.
When Elizabeth took a set back using her left foot and moved to dodging Lucas fist, Lucas found what he was looking. He could feel his body jitter as he found himself activating his plan.
"ZE WORLDO!!"
His sudden out burst caused Elizabeth to loose her balance and actually open one eye. For that split second of confusion. That single mere second. She dropped her guard.
Lucas felt his body screaming as he knew this was it and he needed to act fast. He pulled back his right fist as his aura danced around it. He thrusted his fist forward and was able to hit his mom square in her side. He watched as her eyes went wide in pure shock by his hit.
Both Amay and Martha mouth went wide as a wave of joy and shock shot through them. Martha folded her arms with a smirk on her face as she was proud of her little brother.
His punch caused Elizabeth body to react to move and slide across the grass by a few inches. With thinking as if her body was natural reacting, her fist balled up and punched Lucas.
Lucas relaxed kicked in an instant and caused him to block the punch that was coming for his jaw. He could feel the power behind her punch as his entire arm nearly went numb as his body was pushed back into the grass.
Both of them went to their knees, and started to breathe heavy. Elizabeth looked at her son and clenched her side as the pain was still there. Lucas on the other hand was on both his hands and knees as blood dripped from his lip. Although she did not him him in his face the force behind her punch was enough to make his lip bleed. Lucas entire right arm was tingling as if she hit his funny bone.
Elizabeth was the first to get to their feet, even with her side she was still able to move around. Her hair was a complete mess, so she took her hands and pushed it back behind her eyes. She then made eye contact with her son who had yet to get up. With an exhale of air, and her face went blank and she slowly began to walk to him.
Lucas began to force his body up. He barley could feel anything with the arm she hit, but he wasn't going to allow this to stop him. "Come one. Not yet," Lucas said as he stood fully up and raised both arms up ready to continue this battle.
"You still think you stand a chase?" Elizabeth asked in a cold voice.
Chills went throughout Lucas entire body by her mere words. He could feel his legs began to wobble as his doubts began to rise. Yet he didn't falter. He stood his ground with both hands ready to continue this fight with his mom.
"Just breath, relax, and focus," Lucas told himself as he eyes locked on to his mom. As blood dripped from his lip, he began to take in breaths of air.
Almost like a blur, Elizabeth was in his face with her right arm pulled back. She thrusted her arm forward and was aiming to punch Lucas head straight off. Lucas body instantly raised both arms nearly forming an x.
"Focus..Focus..."Lucas said as electricity began to dance on both of his arm in low sparks. As the punched connection with both of his arms, Lucas body jerked backwards as he was nearly lifted back into the air. Her sing punch made Lucas gasp in disbelief. "It felt as if I got hit by a car." Lucas told himself in disbelief as he landed back on the ground on his stomach.
"My arms feel like Jelly." He said in shock as he tried to move them. His arms shook as they began to slowly come around as he tried to grip the grass to push him up.
As Lucas finally got back to his hands and feet, he felt an immense pressure rest on his back that caused him to fall again. He then tried to stand again.
"You still think you have a chase?"Elizabeth repeated herself to him.
"Yes." Lucas said trying to push her heavy foot back.
"Why do you keep pushing yourself? Why don't you just turn over and die?" Her cold words cut through him.
"Because....." Lucas said as he struggled more to push her foot with all his remaining strength.
"Because what?" Elizabeth asked him.
"Because I am strong and I will not give-" Lucas said as he began to push his body all the way and lifted Elizabeth foot completely off of the ground. "UP!!"
The field went silent as everyone's eyes looked at Lucas with Elizabeth's foot resting on his back as his aura danced around him. Elizabeth then removed her foot and took a step back. She then refolded her arms.
"Prove it," She said in a tough voice as she watched Lucas.
As all the eyes rested on him, Lucas took a moment to breathe. His arms felt like jelly and nearly every part of his body was screaming for him to just lay back down. However, he didn't. He grabbed ahold of himself and slowly began to stand . Once he was off of the ground, he could feel an overwhelming amount of emotions. Pain, Anger, Tiredness, Anxiety, and finally Hope.
Taking a deep breathe and slowly breathing out through his nose, Lucas turned to face his mom. He then raised both arms towards her. Even with his arms shaking Lucas was still ready to fight. His eyes might have showed he was scared, but he was ready to continue.
A smile came across Elizabeth face as she was glad he stood his ground. "Go rest up. Tomorrow we will leave out for your first mission," Elizabeth told him turning away from her son with a big smirk on her face.
It took Lucas a full minute to realize what just happened and what his mom just said to him. He dropped both of his tingling arms in disbelief as a mixture of relief and shock ran through him.
"I....I passed?" Lucas asked in disbelief to himself. "Did I pass?" He immediately asked his mom.
Elizabeth came to a dead stop and turned her head around to her son. She had a big smile on her face as she gave him a single nod. "I'm ordering take out to celebrate." She said as she turned back around to him.
Tears began to fill Lucas eyes as he was so excited, but so overwhelmed with emotions. He tried to keep a straight face, but it was a loosing battle for him. He just tried to wipe away his tears of joy. "Yes, ma'am."
Elizabeth just giggled as she turned back around and headed back to the house. She watched as Amay went right passed her to be the first to congratulation Lucas. As she went by Martha she could see a small smile on her daughter's face.
"You went easy on him?" Martha casual asked her as she watched her brother talk to Amay.
"A little, but he did do really good." Elizabeth answered her daughter. "Please don't let him know. Let him enjoy this moment." Elizabeth told Martha.
"Yes ma'am. " Martha said as she turned to look at her brother.
