Chereads / Amaryllis: A Demi-Human's Tale / Chapter 16 - Chapter 15

Chapter 16 - Chapter 15

As a light breeze blew across the field of grass, Martha and Amay stood a few yards away from one another. This was enough room to allow them to move and not allow any cheap shots to happen freely. Martha eyed Amay, who was dressed in shorts and a tight-fitting tank top. She also noticed that Amay had her long hair in a clip ponytail to keep it out of her face. Martha noticed Amay was in the stance she was always in whenever they fought back in the day. She was getting a sense of déjà vu to start to overtake her as she looked down at her hands for a second.

"This is bringing back a lot of memories. I remember when you were a small puppy, and you always sought to fight me."

Amay voice broke Martha's concentration as she felt the same thing. She remembered when Martha was a younger girl. A small giggle left her mouth as she looked Martha up and down. Martha was almost wearing the same outfit earlier. Amay then noticed bandages on her arms and feet.

Martha didn't say anything as she took a deep breath before exhaling it slowly.

"Those were a different time. This time it's gonna be different." Martha told herself as she put her hair in a ponytail and allow it to fall on her back.

Both Elizabeth and Lucas watched from the safety of their house as they look on to see the outcome. Elizabeth then cupped her mouth as she began to yell.

"I know it's been a while, so listen up. This is either a submission or K.O. fight. The whole area is your battlefield. Powers are not off-limit—just no killing one other. Alright?" Her eyes looked out to make sure both of them heard her before crossing her arms as she watches with a straight face, but she did have some worry in her eyes.

"Mom, are you sure about this—Amay's pretty strong. Are you not worried about Martha being-" Lucas was about to ask while turning towards his mom. He was worried about his sister getting hurt by Amay, and he could feel his chest starting to tighten as his stomach began to turn a little. He stopped when his mother cut him off.

"Sweetheart. I'm only going to tell you this once." Elizabeth said, turning her head to Lucas as her eyes glowed a yellowish-orange. "Shut the hell up and just watch." Her words and stare were cold as ice as she looked at her son before turning her attention back to the anticipated battle.

Lucas was taken back by his mom's sudden change in eye color; simultaneously, a massive chill went down his back. He could do nothing but listen. "Y–Yes, ma'am. " He swallowed as he turned his head back to the girls.

"FuFu. Hey, Martha. Do you remember what I always said before our little sparring matches?" Amay began to antagonize Martha.

Martha didn't say a thing as she knew exactly what Amay was talking about.

When she started her training and a lot weaker, Amay would constantly tease her about not being strong enough to stay with her and Elizabeth. That if she didn't get stronger, she might die, and Elizabeth would never miss her. But what she remembered the most was one particular phrase Amay would say just before they fought.

"Let me show you how to heel, Mutt." Both past and present, Amay told Martha. A blood-colored aura flowed from Amay's body as she got into a fighting stance. She placed her right leg forward as her left was used as support. She faced her claws outward as she had her left arm was pulled back as her right was extended outwards. She giggled a little as she waited on her opponent.

Martha popped her right hand with her left then, she did the opposite. She rolled her shoulders back as she took one last deep breath while exhaling through her nose. A greenish-yellow aura leaked from her hands as she took her stance. Martha crouched a little with her right leg taking the lead. Her right arm was down towards her leg, while her left arm was almost facing upwards.

Their energy caused the wind to blow outward as they become focused on each other. Both Elizabeth and Lucas could feel that energy. Lucas was taken more back as he could actually feel their pressure and could see a clear see-through vapor-like substance leak from both Martha and Amay. He began to rub his eyes as he wasn't sure if they were messing with him or if it was real.

"Relax."

Hearing the voice, he turned his head towards his mother.

"Focus your eyes on their energy, and you will be able to see it better," Elizabeth said in a calm voice. She knew he was having difficulty seeing their aura, so she instructed him while monitoring the fight.

Lucas didn't say anything as he closed his eyes and tried to calm himself. He then focused his eyes on his sister's hands. At first, it was blurry, but as he focused more, her aura became visible for him to see.

"Woah," he said, taken back at what he was seeing.

Elizabeth smirked as she could hear her son's surprise. She then took a deep breath as she could see that they were ready. "Began!" She yelled at the two.

Right off the bat, Martha made the first move. Her feet nearly dug into the ground as she took off at a speed that, to Lucas, seemed like she teleported to Amay. But she just moved at speed he could register, yet like Elizabeth and Amay could. She swung at Amay with a right hook that Amay was able to block using her forearm. A whoosh of energy escaped from them that sent a wave through the grass and caused Amay's feet to dig into the ground slightly.

A smile crept across, Amay's face as she felt the power behind Martha's punch. It made her whole right arm trembled a little. She looked Martha in the eyes as Marth looked back at her. However, before she could return, she saw a flash of green below her as she quickly used her free arm to block the hit. The attack caused Amay to be pushed back a few feet. Once she came to a stop, Amay brought her arms down as she chuckled a little at Martha.

"Not bad, you-" Amay was about to say as she began to stumble and rock as her vision blurred. At the time, a sharp pain ran up both her arms from the spots she used to block Martha's hits. She then saw visible bruises start forming. A visible worry overcame her face as this girl was a lot stronger than originally thought.

Martha didn't say anything as she took a deep breath and went on the offensive. She moved fast and aimed straight for Amay's face, but her opponent blocked with both arms. Yet, Amay felt her body get carried due to the force. Martha then tried again with another right hook, but Amay was nearly able to dodge the hit as she pulled her head back, falling back onto the ground.

"Shit." Amay thought to herself as she was barely able to dodge that attack, but she was able to feel some of the force behind them. Amay pulled herself back up and crouched low to brace herself. Her arms were throbbing as she could feel her nose began to bleed. She didn't take her eyes off Martha as she was now forced to be on the defensive.

"Damnit. Her speed has increased as well. If I wasn't able to dodge those attacks, she would have done some serious damage to me." She thought to herself. She watched Martha stand back up straight, and her eyes narrowed on Amays.

Martha just exhaled as she took off again. She leaped into the air with both of her hands together in a balled fist as her green energy surrounded it. Amay quickly rolled left to dodge the attack. The ground where Martha hit began to crack and shift as she caused some of it to rise.

"Now's my chance. Technique No 4: Blood Dagger." Amay thought to herself as a blood dagger formed in her right hand.

While some of the ground was up, it created a dust cloud that blocked Martha's vision. Taking advantage us this, Amay took off towards Martha's back. She lept into the air and tried to come down, aiming to stab Martha in the back. However, she didn't expect Martha to turn around with an aura engulfed fist. Instead, she was caught off guard with a straight punch to her side. Martha's hit caused Amay to drop her blade to the ground, while the momentum and power sent Amay to fly a few feet. Amay hit the ground hard doing a few rolls before coming to a stop.

Amay tried to rise, but she fell back down and immediately grabbed her side as she coughed up blood and gasp for air. She then felt something on top of her head that forced her to the ground more. Amay struggled to look up but only saw a foot with bandages on them. As she struggled to rise, Martha forced her back down to the ground, almost as if she were bowing to her.

"How does it feel?" Martha said, pushing her foot down a little, adding more weight to Amay struggle. Her eyes glowed a cold green as she watched her foe squirm beneath her feet. She remembered Amay doing this to her whenever they trained together. Ever. Single. Time. Martha knew the day would come when she would get her revenge, and she was going to enjoy it. "Say it," Martha said in a cold but angry tone as she looked down at Amay.

"Go...To...Hell!" Amay struggled to get out as she was busy focusing on keeping herself from not eating the dirt. She knew she couldn't get a weapon from her blood because her face was going into the ground if she slipped up. She then let out a roar as she forced herself to rise from the pain. Her eyes became black with red pupils as she quickly rolled herself from under Martha's foot.

Once she was free, Amay rolled back to her feet and hands as her fangs became more pronounced along with her one horn came back on her head. Her hair went from red to pinkish-white as she used her blood to heal her wounds. She focused her eyes on Martha, who only just coldly stared back.

"You damn mutt," Amay said as she launched at Martha. Her claws became more pronounced as her nails turned bright red. "Blood Technique No. 1 Blood Claws!" She said in a voice heavied with her accent and sound like a light gargled voice.

Amay quickly began to swipe at Martha, trying to at least land one hit on her. Yet, Martha was keeping up with her while holding a blank, expressionless face. Martha then raised her hands high like a boxer would as she continued to dodge Amay strikes. She quickly began to hop on one foot as she began to bounce back as Amay continued to follow.

"Stay still, you Mutt!" Amay nearly roared at Martha as she felt her toying with her.

Martha then took a deep breath as she opened her now emerald green eyes. She came to a stop and used her left hand to push both of Amay's arms out of the way as she circled her. Using her right hand, she grabbed the base of Amay's head.

A cold chill went down Amay's spine as she could feel time start to crawl around her while eery realization began to set in. "Huh?" The only word to leave her mouth as her eyes went wide.

Martha's grip tightened around Amay's head as her green aura engulfed it and her entire arm ripping the bandages off. "Wolf Style: Wolf Claw," Martha said as her aura on her hand became like a claw and increased the force behind her hand.

"HYAAA!!" Martha let out as loud as she could as she drove her hand and Amay's head into the ground. This caused the area within 6ft to violently shake and break from the impact. Amay's entire head went into the ground as she went entirely limp.

Steam left Martha's mouth as she exhaled and looked at the crater and Amay's hair. She slowly removed her now badly damage and bloody hand from the hole. She slowly got up and looked at what she did and her revenge before letting out a Hmph. She then looked at her badly hurt arm as she turned to walk back towards Elizabeth and Lucas.

Lucas was left speechless. While Elizabeth just looked at her daughter and then at her former partner that was buried and not moving.

"Did you have to be that rough, Martha? " Elizabeth asked her approaching daughter.

"I was holding back on her," Martha answered in her cold, monotoned voice as she could feel her hand throbbing from the pain.

As Amay laid there unconscious, a dark female voice began to whisper into her ear.

"You are stronger than you think you are. Just tap into that energy. Let me guide you."

As Martha walked, she and Elizabeth suddenly felt a familiar energy they hadn't felt since before everything happened and began to radiate from behind Martha. Lucas felt an immediate sense of fear, unlike he ever had before in his life. They all turn their attention to the now standing Amay with her hair undone. Her clothes were visibly torn while her shirt was ripped as a visible red line and light between her chest and her heart would begin to glow. Her hair seemly floated in the air as it covered part of her face. Her eyes were an unnatural red and had small black pupils in them.

"FuFuFu. I smell all of your blood." Amay's voice and the mysterious one said in unison as a twisted smile formed on her face.

"Oh no," Elizabeth said as she remembered the last time this happened. The reason why Amay is a monster.
