Chapter 107 - Carnation 105

Third Person

Paris, France: Paris Police Department

"You have a visitor, Heinz."

It's been almost a week since his Arraignment happened, and the issues about him were still hot. News and journal creators have found ways to create various theories about his confession on live television. Some guy on the internet made a remix of his confession, which was pretty catchy for a song meant to insult him.

'Who is it now?'

As they escorted him back to the visitor's area, all he could do was look down and not anticipate his next visitor. His court trial is nearing, and yet, he hasn't moved a single muscle to do something about it besides praying, hoping, and dreaming for Raine to visit him one last time.

Violently, they pushed him down to sit before uncuffing his wrists. Then they left him according to their sergeant's instructions. They left him seated on the table farthest from the crowd to avoid interactions with the other.

Saccharide kept his head low, staring at the dry wound on his wrists. The blood clotted fast; the female guard did an excellent job of tending his wounds. It was just a matter of time that his Psychiatrist found out about his attempt suicide, but they didn't give the public that gossip. A suicide attempt story will only show sympathy.

They don't want to give him that...

"Hello, dear..." He heard a sweet voice. For a moment, he thought it was his mother's, "I'm Attorney Ameurfina Baernaise,"— until the woman introduced herself.

"Baernaise? Hah!" Saccharide mumbled and chuckled at himself for thinking that this beautiful woman was that son of a bitch, Klavier Baernaise.

This encounter with Saccharide Heinz was the first one for Attorney Ameurfina. Her son didn't really like the idea of the grey-haired boy's existence, and whenever her son mentions his name, it would be just to curse the boy. The woman wasn't able to keep her smile as the boy's chuckles became louder.

She looked at him, wondering before the boy asked her a question, "Baernaise?" he started with a smirk, "I don't suppose you have a son who is a dumb-ass?"

With that question, she was able to regain her smile as she clicked open her briefcase, "You're under so much distress so, I'm going to let that slide," she stated and calmly got a folder on the table.

All was fine, and her motherly meter was cooling down. Still, Saccharide's laughter became louder when a picture of Klavier, wearing a blue tuxedo smiling, showing his red-pigmented braces, dropped from one of the folders.

The male whispered as he picked up the film and gave it another mockery by laughing, even more, brutal and louder that it started to get attention from the other people. Finally, he set it down after a good few minutes before whispering—

"A faggot—"

Then he mocked some more.

"And a Dumb-ass..."

Click.

Attorney Ameurfina closed her briefcase then looked up without a smile—

Saccharide had his collar pulled by the Attorney before drawing his face near to her mild but bewitching eyes, "I don't know what dumb-ass are you talking about, but my 'daughter' is the sweetest piece of tamarind; that I could ever bear inside my womb." After getting a shocked gulp from the male, she settled him down on his bottom safely before sitting down herself gracefully.

"Let's put our indifferences behind us and work, alright?" she asked sweetly and flipped a few pages of papers.

As Saccharide looked at her, he saw her as trustworthy. But putting his guards up will not hurt, "Did the crappy Government hire you?" he asked after supporting his chin with his palm.

"I might not be an Aksenov, but a girl with the same surname hired me," the woman stated, continuing to flip through the folder's pages, "I hope that doesn't bother you..."

As Saccharide was about to react, a voice— No. A familiar symphony called in their direction. At a turn of his head, a gorgeous black-haired female surprised him. Her face was utterly flustered, her lips shone with gloss, her eyes were sharper than he remembered, and she was wearing the same jacket he gave her the night they went on their date.

'The Lord answered my prayer,' He thought as his eyes widened at the sight of his beautiful seraphim, 'I could die right now...'

The male held his hand up to her hands to grab it after calling her name, "Raine..."

Raine tensed at their skin, making static shock with each other so, she shook it off.

Violently...

He can't believe it. Saccharide stared longer and deeper at her. It could have been a twin or just someone who resembles her.

Doppelganger?

Maybe an illusion?

Dream?

Hallucination?

"Auntie!" her voice was firm but harmonious. She sounded in a hurry, "I tried calling you, but you won't answer. I'll be quick..."

No... It was her...

Attorney Ameurfina checked her mobile phone and was appalled with how many missed calls popped out on the screen, "Oh, you're right. I'm sorry for neglecting. I mute my phone when at work," she got back the phone inside the case and proceeded to talk to her like he wasn't present in their timeline.

Saccharide didn't know what to feel at that exact moment.

Will he be ecstatic? He got to see her again. Hear her voice. Touch her skin. And smell her scent. Not in his dream and imagination, but reality.

Will he be heartbroken? She practically slapped his loving hands away. It wasn't for a purpose. She intended to avoid contact with him. Even glancing at him for a bit didn't cross her mind. Raine just focused on the lawyer brunette's direction.

Will he be mad? They told her to stay away from him. They brainwashed her. That's why she's not acting like herself.

He started feeling the anger rise inside him as his fists clench, his teeth ground with each other, and his head began to ache. They said, 'He has no sickness—' they said it was only a lie from the start, 'But he can still feel it!'

"Raine!" Saccharide called as Raine heard it clear. She made one mistake; her eyes met his. They were both in a trance. The boy stood up and placed himself closer to her. His aching chest was almost touching her shoulder, yet she did not react. She even flinched to get behind the lawyer.

"We have business here—" Attorney Ameurfina barricaded the space between them before facing the girl. Seeing that the boy was already feeling uneasy with Raine ignoring him, the woman wrapped their conversation and asked softly, "What is it that you have to say, dear? Hurry... He's about to lose it!"

"I didn't want to come here, but you're the one who insisted," Raine whispered, trying to catch her breath from all the acting she has to put for three mere minutes, "You even texted me to put this act..."

"I just thought both of you would want to see each other before the court trial starts," the woman giggled and used her handkerchief to wipe the young girl's brow, "He looks like he's about to pounce on you," she teased.

"I can't take it anymore. Thank you, Auntie, for the thought," she smiled bashfully before digging for her phone in her pocket. Raine left her phone in the Attorney's hands before bowing to go, "Please use this to record his statements. If Dione asked for me, I'd be at the questioning ward."

...

"Raine!"

The moment Raine turned around, the male feared that it was the last time he'll have to hold her. Her continuous whimpers and gasping for air fell into his occupied ears. The only thing he could hear is how his heart got its clogs turning and working again.

As he tightened his embrace on her waist, the more inhale he would intake from her hair, "Goddamn! I miss you," it was his turn to whimper, "Please... Look at me..."

Pulling the girl to sit on his lap, he was excited to gaze upon her eyes up close, "Look at me! Did you miss me?" he asked as he kept seizing her chin to face him.

"Saccharide..." she called, and he smiled.

It worked. Raine looked at him with her fresh sharp eyes. Her thin lips opened as he leaned closer to kiss her once more, but three words came out of it.

Saccharide was hoping to get an, 'I love you...'

Instead—

"Let go, Saccharide," Raine stopped his face from getting any closer. His vice grip snaking around her waist loosened before she frowned and stood up. Raine's request statement left Saccharide too shocked to move.

The girl took one step away before Saccharide used his hand to cuff her hand and pull Raine closer to his level. Gasping, Raine calmed herself upon seeing Saccharide's beautiful golden eyes, "I- I can't talk to you..." she stuttered and pulled her hand off his.

The boy was persistent. He didn't give up and hugged her from behind again before backing her up against the nearby wall. Sobbing, Saccharide asked, his hug getting tighter with each word, "Why? Are you scared of me?" he whimpered every word out of his lips, "I didn't kill them... something made me. You have to believe me... Please believe me..."

Raine was torn between decisions and feelings.

She believes him. And she wasn't afraid.

"Are you afraid...?"

He just doesn't know how much her arms itched to hug him back.

He doesn't know how much she wanted to cuff their hands together and throw away the keys forever.

He doesn't know how long she had to cry when she saw him for the first time in person while being escorted out of the door and forcefully seated on the table.

That's why she had to put on a thick amount of foundation to cover her red puffy face.

He doesn't know how hard she was pinching herself to focus on the pain instead of the welling tears on her eyes.

She wasn't scared.

"Right now, you're giving me a reason to be... Stop this..." she pleaded and looked up to him; her tears started to fall down like diamond rains on Saturn and Jupiter.

Guilt bleached his insides before he squeezed her face and kissed her tears away as his tears started dripping off his chin as well, "There's no reason to be afraid! Don't you know?! I—"

Suddenly, the door busted open, and the other prisoners were pushed back to their cells without saying goodbye to their families. All of the guards were holding up their guns, and it alerted Saccharide, so he swiftly turned his back on them, shielding Raine from the possible harm.

"Heinz! Let go of the girl!"

Raine screamed when one officer made a warning shot, and it hit the wall three inches away from the couple. Saccharide hugged her tighter before squeezing his eyes shut, forcing more tears to flow down and stain his lover's clothes.

The girl squeezed her eyes shut before wrapping her arms around him, then shockingly spun the both of them, so she was the one facing her back on them. She made them let down all their guards because of her actions; the boy was shocked as hell. He couldn't help but blush when she covered his body to protect him from the attacks.

Just when she thought he had let his grip loose, Raine tried to step away quickly, but Saccharide held the back of her shirt, "Just let me go, please..." she whispered, still letting him bury his face on her chest.

"I love you... I love you!" the boy chanted, his voice was cracking with every word, "I said it! I already said it. You don't have to wait for it anymore!"

All of those who could hear softened their eyes and somehow felt pity for the two.

Attorney Ameurfina looked around and smirked, "It's working..." she then darted her eyes on the two and expected more drama from it.

"My heart's beating so fast. If you go away, it might get out of my chest and follow you!" whimpered Saccharide, "Please stay..."

Raine took a big breath, and silence filled the room with silence.

"I can't, Saccharide," she let go of his body before taking a step back.

"WHY?! DO THOSE FUCKERS HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS?!"

They were back from their initial state again. He was squeezing her face close to his, deranged eyes sucking the soul out of her body after he struck their body against the wall. The girl whimpered before closing her eyes. She had to think of escape, but if she tried to break away, they might shoot him, and it was the last thing she wanted in this meeting.

"Get the hell off of her, Heinz!"

Turning her head to the crowd, Raine gasped when she saw a tranquilizer gun pointed at them.

Flailing her arms on the side, Attorney Ameurfina thankfully blocked the man with a tranquilizer gun, "STOP! You might shoot the wrong one! Let her handle him herself!"

"Ma'am, she is the victim of Domestic Violence. We can't let this," the man pushed the woman out of the way before declaring, "Heinz! I don't want to take the risk of hurting you both!"

"Let me handle this! Put down the guns," Raine shouted.

...

"Miss Aksenov..."
