This could be extremely bad. I think to myself as I'm hiding behind the couch at Mikazuki's house.
I slowly get out behind the couch and face an angry Hina "Hey Hina, what are you doing out so late?"
She is furious "What am I doing out so late? What are you doing out so late?! In Mikazuki's apartment of all places?!"
"I wanted to show her around town and she asked me if I wanted to go to her house for dinner and we ended up losing track of time." I lied, it would have been about impossible to tell her the actual truth.
"Oh really?" Hina replies
Mikazuki cuts in, "Yes that is the truth."
Hina steps back for a second to calm down, after a few minutes she looks at both of us and says, "Shin, because we have a day off tomorrow and you owe me for making me look for you all day you have to spend the weekend with me."
"Huh?" I reply confused
Hina puts her hands on hips "Yep, that's right you owe me, so we are going out tomorrow."
Out of nowhere, Mikazuki suggests "Hey how about all three of us go to the amusement park close to the docks?"
"Sounds like a plan to me." I reply
"Dang it, I wanted me and Shin to spend the weekend by ourselves" Hina pouts.
"Oh really, and why is that?" Mikazuki asks.
Hina's face turns blood red "No reason."
Mikazuki smiles and says "Great I guess it will be the three of us."
I am both relieved and terrified. Hina and I go back to our apartments, as I'm walking through the door I see mom sitting on the couch, it seems like she had just got back from work. "Where in the world have you been?" She asks, sounding completely exhausted.
"I have just been out with some friends, we ended up losing track of time, I'm sorry I got home so late." She's lost so much weight, she seems like skin and bones. "Anyway, Mom let me fix you something to eat you seem extremely tired." I head to the kitchen and fix her some noodles, I add some vegetables and canned chicken so it will hopefully fill her up more. "Here you go." I tell her as I hand her the bowl. "Thank you," she says with a tired smile. She takes the bowl and begins to eat. I head up to my room and collapse on the bed wondering how crazy things are gonna be tomorrow.
"Another dream?" This one isn't as vivid. I'm only able to see flashes of a dark hooded figure floating around I seem to be hiding from it I begin to move slowly but I step on a candy bar wrapper, it turns around and heads to me. I start to scream. It's wearing a black cloak but different from Mikazuki's, this one is more of a mist and in the opening is a black skeleton. It's let's out a horrible scream.
I jolt outta bed staring down at the ground. "What was that?" The alarm goes off. I look over; it's 8:00 am. "I gotta meet Mikazuki and Hina in an hour! I better get ready." I get changed, walk down the steps to the kitchen. and started heading out the door.
Yui sees me "Shin where are you going?"
"I'm going to hang out with a couple of classmates today, we're heading to the amusement park."
"Oh, can I come too, Shin?"
"I suppose Yui...it wouldn't be fair if you were here all by yourself. Go and get ready we need to leave soon."
"Ok" Yui walks to her room with a huge smile on her face. She comes back out in a blue dress shirt with a light blue skirt matching her shoulder-length light blue hair. "Ok, I'm ready."
We head out of the apartment where Hina is waiting for us. She's propped up against the fence outside of the apartment complex. "Oh wow." I whisper. She's wearing a pink short sleeve shirt with a matching pink skirt and black leggings Matching her long wavy pink hair that she most of the time keeps in pigtails that almost reaches her ankles.
Hina catches me looking at her and she blushes and softly says "H-h-how do I look?"
"You look great." I reply
Yui cuts in "Shin I'm not a third wheel in yours and Hina's date am I?"
My eyes grow wide "D-d-date?! What do you mean date? We're just hanging out at the amusement park."
"Yeah, we're not on a date." Hina says still flustered
"Ok, if you say so," Yui smirks
I look at my watch "If we don't hurry we're gonna be late, we still have to meet Mikazuki."
We start walking to the bus stop, Mikazuki is sitting on the bench. I feel my cheeks burning as we get closer she's wearing a short white dress with a small black jacket and black leggings her outfit complements her light skin complexion and silver-white hair perfectly. I'm completely speechless. Hina seems to notice me staring and hits me in the arm "Ouch, what was that for?"
"Stop staring at Mikazuki so we can get on the bus."
Mikazuki giggle which makes me even more flustered.
I look down "Mikazuki I'm sorry I didn't realize I was staring."
She smiles "It's fine I don't mind at all." Out the corner of my eye, I notice Hina seems like she is pouting.
Mikazuki notices Yui "And who might this little cutie be?"
Yui's face turns red and she hides behind me "This is my younger sister Yui."
Mikazuki reaches out her hand and smiles "Hi Yui, I'm Mikazuki Watanabe, I'm classmates and friends with Shin."
Yui reaches out slowly and shakes her hand with a small smile on her face.
We all board the bus we find 2 empty bus seats one in front of the other I sit in the first one, Yui sits behind me then Mikazuki sits next to me and Hina sits with Yui. We didn't talk much throughout the ride.
We all step off the bus and head to the ticket booth I began to reach in my back pocket to pay for mine and Yui's ticket, Mikazuki stops me. "Don't worry about it this is my treat." She then proceeds to pay for all of the tickets.
I look over towards her "Are you sure you're ok with doing that? I can pay you back if you want me to."
"No don't worry about it, it's completely fine." She replies "You can repay me by having a good time."
"Thank you Mikazuki, this means so much."
She smiles, we all head through the entrance, Yui lets out a small gasp I can't help but to do the same, the sight is breathtaking. Food stands lined up either side, so many different types of rides scattered throughout. Mikazuki notices our surprised expression and asks "Is this the first time you been to an amusement park?"
"Yes," I answer truthfully "Mom is working so much just to keep us off the streets so we never had the money to go." Mikazuki looks down and seems kinda down. "It's ok though, I promise, once I get outta school I'm going to college and try to get a good job to support my mother and sister."
She looks back up and smiles "I hope you can make that dream come true. Anyways, let's get going and have some fun."
We all go in and play some carnival games and get some cotton candy. After about an hour of playing games and eating snacks, we all look around for a ride to get on.
Yui looks around and spots the Ferris wheel towards the back of the park. "How about we get on that?"
I pat her on the head "If everyone else is okay with that then I'm fine with it"
Everyone agrees to it, so we all get in line. When it finally came time to board the Ferris wheel, we all get in the same passenger car and it slowly goes up Hina sits down while the rest of us look at the amazing view. I walk up to Hina "Is everything ok?"
She looks up at me "I don't do too well with heights."
"Then why did you get on the Ferris wheel if you're scared of heights?" I ask as I sit down next to her.
"I didn't want to feel left out and everyone seemed excited to ride the Ferris so how could I object?" After a few mins of silence, she leans over and puts her head on my shoulder. Surprised I jolt slightly. She quietly asks "Will this be ok, at least till we get back down"?
"Sure, I don't mind."
Mikazuki is next to Yui who is enjoying the sights as she looks around, giggling from excitement.
The Ferris wheel slowly comes to a stop and begins letting passengers off after close to ten minutes it's our turn to step off. We all walk-off slowly and go towards the center of the amusement park.
We start riding more and more rides until it gets dark. I look over at Yui. "We might wanna leave soon."
She looks up and begins to pout Can we stay for just a bit longer?"
"Tell you what we will ride one more ride whatever ride you want." I tell her as I pat her on the head.
"Ok how about this one." She points her finger at a small roller coaster.
"Sure Yui." Once we all get in line out of the corner of my eye I see a little girl wandering around.
She begins yelling do her mother "Momma, Momma where are you?!"
I begin to walk closer to her but then I realize she's a ghost!
I walk up to her, not sure what else to say "Hey little one, is everything ok?"
She begins to cry "My mommy I'm looking for my mommy."
"It's gonna be ok, we will find her soon little one." I look over back at the line me and Mikazuki make eye contact she begins to walk over here. She is only a few feet away when I see a black mist and I'm suddenly shoved backward, away from the girl. I hit the ground hard. Mikazuki screams "SHIN!!" I manage to get back on my feet and look towards where the little girl is out of the black mist a black skeletal hand appears wielding what seems to be a more sinister version of the scythe Mikazuki carries. Before we can do anything to stop it, it swings at the little girl she turns into a bright light that gets sucked into the black mist.
I scream out "NOOO!!!" I run towards it full speed not sure what I am doing. It knocks me away.
Mikazuki yells at me "Stay down otherwise it will kill you, let me take care of this." Her black flame-like cloak appears around her, her scythe extends out of her hands mid-swing towards the black mist the blade connects tearing off one of the arms which disappear as it hits the ground. The black mist shoves Mikazuki away.
I suddenly remember "Hina get Yui out of here it's not safe." She can't see it so she has no idea she's in danger.
Not knowing what's going on but can tell from the seriousness in my voice Hina takes Yui by the hand and heads towards the exit. I duck behind the stand, Mikazuki is still on the ground hurt. I try to sneak towards her. Remembering my dream I look down there was the candy bar wrapper I stepped on I step around and sneak to Mikazuki "Hey are you ok Mikazuki?"
She slowly looks up "What are you doing I told you to stay down."
"Sorry I can't just leave a friend behind." I help her stand.
I suddenly ask "What in the world is that thing?"
"Do you remember the grim wraths I mentioned? This is one of them he's been around for a while feeding on the souls of the dead, that's why he is so strong."
"What can we do?" I ask her
"I'm not sure just yet."
