With Ari flanking, and John pressing forward the slavers weren't able to rally. With little ammo, John made every shot count and would wait for them to charge in close. Each shot was landing on the head, and having human warriors as the opponent they weren't sure how to stop him.
'Those must be the weapon Dagon mentioned.' Kishi watched closely as the bodies hit the floor.
Kishi's interest in John faded when seeing two Maori warriors charging into the base. Seeing their markings Kishi smirked dashing forward. He became worried he would see no action in his mission, and Kishi wanted to enjoy himself if stationed here. Kishi never fought a Maori before but heard of their warrior's prowess, and was eager to test the rumors firsthand.
While Kishi was sprinting forward it was the first time John noticed him and seeing a giant foe entering the battle John tried to engage him. John shot at Kishi, but he blocked it with his gauntlets without breaking his charge. John took aim at his exposed legs, but Kishi sprang into the air when hearing the shot.
'How can he react so fast?'
Kishi landed between the two warriors striking the ground as it shattered, and sent the warriors flying. The debris produced was striking all those around like shrapnel, and John narrowly managed to get cover.
"What is that?" John shouted while laying cover at the slavers.
Ari was about to get flanked, but the warrior had a bullet put in the back of their head. Ari turned around releasing a powerful blast of mana towards Kishi as he crossed his arms to brace for it.
"It's an oni, and we need to take care of him before he transforms!" Ari shouted at his comrades.
Kishi was sliding back from the force of the blast as his gauntlets began to glow. With a smirk on his face, Kishi planted his feet into the dirt and forced his arms apart dissipating the blast. Ari already closed the distance letting off an overhand strike intending to break Kishi's neck. When the blow landed a loud crack rang through the camp.
"Not bad, but I'm not interested in you," Kishi smirked as blood was leaking down his forehead.
Ari's weapon was cracked, and he only managed to break the skin. Kishi stepped forward delivering a powerful blow to Ari's stomach sending him flying across the camp as his back slammed into the cages.
John was preparing to take aim at Kishi when he heard someone encroaching behind him. Turning around there was a sword-swinging down for his shoulder, and John was forced to block with his weapon.
'Damn it there's still too many.'
The slaver retrieved his blade preparing to swing for the gut, but John shot him in the throat as he kicked him in the chest. John wanted to help the others, but the slavers still had the numbers, and with his comrades busy they could now focus on John alone.
While John was trying to fight off the slavers Ari's comrades were locked in battle with Kishi. They had their haka's activated, and we're releasing a barrage of heavy strikes, and each one sent a rumble through camp. Kishi was slowly losing ground but never lost his smirk.
Taylor and the others were watching the scene unfold, and were powerless to help. Even with the number of slavers diminishing Taylor knew reinforcements would be returning soon. She wanted John to run but knew he would never desert his comrades. After exhausting all of his ammo John was at the cage trying to find a lock to bust, but there was nothing.
There was a woman at the gate with short black hair trailing to her shoulders with a pair of black jackal ears atop her head, and a fluffy black tail swaying behind her. She had smooth brown skin and mesmerizing red eyes. Her name is Heba, and she is an anubis. During the slaver's attack, she allowed herself to get captured to ensure her pharaoh's safety.
"You need to be proficient in magic to open it, but I don't sense any from you," Heba told John.
John tried to focus, and gather mana like he was taught, but the bars didn't budge.
"You need to get out of here while you still can!" Taylor shouted from the back of the cage.
"I applaud your bravery human, but there's nothing you can do. Unless you wish to share a cell with me you should leave." Heba said with a smile.
John turned back to see his comrades still engaged, but with Kishi now on the attack. With the Maori's haka ending soon they would be put in a weakened state. Ari was covered in wounds but still stood up to ensure his comrades wouldn't fall.
Kishi snatched one of the Maori up by the throat slamming him into the other with tremendous force as their tattoo's lost their glow. Ari dashed in pouring all of his mana into one strike, but Kishi read the technique with ease shattering the weapon.
With the power source destroyed a blast of mana erupted between the both of them forcing debris to obscure their vision. The shockwave produced caused everyone within the camp to be disoriented. As the dust finally settled, and their senses returned everyone saw Kishi standing there triumphantly while holding Ari by the throat.
"Is that all?" Kishi asked with disappointment.
Ari's comrades came charging in, and Kishi dropped him to confront them.
"I've seen what you had already," Kishi said while striking them both in the gut.
Their eyes rolled back as they collapsed onto the ground unconscious. Kishi was turning back to Ari when he heard the sound of a blade leaving its sheath. John drew his ka-bar from his waist and was plunging it towards Kishi's spine.
Kishi turned as the blade went into his side, but with an oni's body, it barely pierced the flesh. He turned around to deliver a push kick, but John evaded stepping in while placing his leg behind Kishi's. John forced him off balance as they both fell, and while on the ground John attempted to strike his neck. Kishi narrowly caught the blade between his gauntlets as John struggled to push it forward.
"You're a tough one to sense," Kishi smirked breaking the ka-bar with his gauntlets.
Before John could react Kishi kicked him in the stomach as he flew back into the unconscious warriors. Due to the words of power on his fists, and the effects of eating the viper John avoided death. John's body was indeed more durable, but Kishi still managed to knock the wind out of him while cracking a few ribs.
'How can he be that strong?' John wiped the blood from his mouth.
"What happened here?" Dagon asked as he landed next to Kishi.
