"Did..... did you just....talk?!" Tyler whispered, stuttering in the middle of his sentence, he couldn't believe it, this thing just spoke to him, in perfect English! Nevertheless, he still kept his gun aimed at it.
"Well, of course i can" the wolf responded, taking a few steps forward, toward the boy. Tyler moved back away from the she-wolf, tripping on a log he was sitting on, falling on his backside, pulling himself with his back at his tent, raising his rifle back up.
"Don't you dare come any closer!" Tyler tried to shout, but all that came out was a hoarse croak, the unrelentless cold stealing his voice away, keeping his weapon trained on the she-wolf's head. But, Tyler thought about the chances he had if this thing did decide to attack him, which to him, seemed completely impossible. It didn't matter if he got the shot of first or managed to wound the wolf, he would be torn to shreds in a matter of seconds.
The she-wolf put it's hands up but still kept walking towards him, "Human, please, i don't wish to harm you, i just want to help you" the wolf got closer to the point it was right in front of the frightened boy, kneeling down to his level and locking with his eyes. Tyler couldn't bring himself to pull the trigger, as he stared back into the wolf's eyes, They seemed to glow a bright polished gold.
the young humans hand's trembled and his rifle shook, the barrel lowered from the wolfess to the ground, his voice trapped in his throat, unable to form any words to say. The wolf placed it's right paw on the barrel of the gun lowering it so that it could move closer to him, eventually, Tyler gave in, letting go of it completely. The wolf then moved it's left hand to grab the butt of the rifle, setting it down next to the tent.
Tyler didn't move, his body locking up like it had turned into stone, the only thing that moved were his eyes as they tracked and watched the wolf's movements carefully, trying to get an idea of what it was trying to do, was it genuinely been friendly, or was it trying to lure him into a trap to finish him off later, it didn't matter to him anymore, as his eyelids slowly began to shut.
The wolf looked back at the boy after setting down his weapon, when she noticed him with his eyes nearly closed and falling over to the side, she quickly grabbed him by his shoulders and set him back up.
"Hey human, Please, stay awake," the wolf said, she happened to glance over his clothes, his uniform was covered in dirt and ice, so much so that it had soaked through. If he didn't get somewhere warm soon, he would probably get hypothermia. She turned her head to the fire, it's heat and light dying out, and there was no wood to use nearby, even if there was, most of the wood here was matted with frost and snow, making them to damp to use on the fire.
The wolf noticed the tent entrance flap opened slightly, she walked over and lifted it up to see inside. The wolf saw a sleeping bag and burgeon off to the sides of the tent, with bits of food, drink and other bits and stuff laying around. The wolf stepped closer to the sleeping bag, placing her hand in the inside, taking note of how warm it seemed, this sleeping bag would do.
The wolf went back outside, the cold had started to rise and the temperature lowered by the second. Thinking on her paws, she grabbed Tyler and pulled the boy into the tent, laying him next to the bed, moving back to the tent door flap, pulling the zipper and shutting it. She moved back to the boy, taking his big parka of, the coat dripping slightly.
She shifted to the sleeping bag and unzipped it, moving Tyler over into it before removing his wet shirt, trousers and boots before zipping it back up. The wolfess sat there, looking over the human, bringing a paw up and stroking his hair. She smiled as she stroked him, "You are one very lucky human, to have survived this long, especially out here with all of these things hunting you" . She mumbled to the boy, who by that point was already fast asleep, the she wolf continued, "Please don't be afraid, I promise to protect you and help you get through this, my pack will understand". The wolf's paw glided down so that it was on his cheek, the skin feeling like ice, but slowly regaining warmth.
But, the wolf day sat there for a minute, wondering what she was going to do next, she needed to report back to her pack, but she couldn't leave the human and risk those creatures finding him. So, she ultimately decided that she would stay with him for the night, at least the boy would have someone to comfort him if he had a nightmare, she joked to herself.
The anthro wolf laid down next to Tyler, wrapping him up in her arms and pulling him close to her chest, the boy, unconsciously rolled over and got a face full of chest fur, bringing his arms out and petting the fur.
The wolf 's smile grew as she snuggled him closer, laying his head on her chest, keeping him warm and protected from the elements. "You can call me Athena, if you'd like" the wolfess whispered quietly. Athena listened to the wind outside as it grew in intensity, before returning her gaze back to the boy, snuggled up to her.
"Have a good night kid, cause when you wake up, I've got a lot of explaining to do" Athena chuckled, before laying her own head down and drifting off into sleep herself.
