Chapter 20 - Smoke On The Water

SHE FELT HERSELF SINK INTO A STATE OF HELPLESSNESS. That same helplessness she felt when her father left and her hands were tied, but in this moment never had she felt so helpless, helpless to help the one that Fate had assigned to her, the same person she had so longed waited for. Her mate laid there, the uncertainty was drilling within her mind. Everything around her didn't really matter, nothing else mattered but him.

The need to reach him was strong yet she couldn't, no matter how hard she tried she failed. Even tried screaming for him to get up and wake up but he never did, just laid they almost lifeless. Why couldn't she reach him? She desperately wanted to reach him. Why couldn't she move? It was as if there was something, someone keeping her from moving, holding her back, captive. In the grip of silent panic, wild eyes, her pupils dilated and her heart raced like a millions miles.

Had she just lost him before she could even have him? To be with him or even to get to know him. How was that ever fair? Nothing was fair for her and for once she thought the universe had finally given her fairness for only it to be taken away once again. It was true what they say 'Fate was cruel' and he himself knew it. It was far too quick even for her liking.

Never in her life had her heartbeat sped and banged within her chest so loudly, so frantically. It echoed like sound would echo through an empty house, loud and desperate, desperate for attention. But in her mist of panic she still searched frantically, checking his pale body for any injuries but he had none, he had nothing visibly wrong with him and then what the hell happened to him? What did that vampire do to him? Vampires were know for their cruel nature but even doing something like this was way out of their capabilities. She didn't know whether or not he was alive, she couldn't hear anything. How was it possible for someone to just... just give out like that? What did he do to him?

Be still. The wind screams more than howls. Rain falls as stones. In the pit of her stomach, she felt it the impending was inevitable and she could sense it nearing. Thunder rumbled in the distance and a bolt of lightning cracked the midnight blue sky into two. Jagged flashes of pure light cast a glow against the monochromatic background.

"If I were you sweetheart, I would run the other way-" That same voice that had cause terror within her causing her to still in her midst of her panic, it was as if the snake had slithered its way back, yet somehow even she didn't believe he had truly left without causing havoc, it was in it's vile nature.

"He is not the man you want to get yourself involved with." He continued, breathing down her neck as a cold shiver ran down her spine, causing the ends of her hairs to rise. He was behind her, holding her in place as his hands snaked around her neck at any minute he had the advantage to snap her neck, she even bet that's what his intentions were.

"Its very unfortunate for you, for Fate had truly fucked you up my dear," He taunted, poisoning her mind with its venomous words of lies. The close proximity felt far more colder than the weather that soon will come. He felt so cold, it was true what they said about their kind, they were cold hearted and simply dead inside. She now knew what that meant, before she thought it was because of their cruel nature but it was literal. She even smelt death. Even tho she didn't know her mate but Fate had bound them together for some reason and that reason was enough for her.

"It's truly laughable." He snickered, more to himself than her. What was happening? The world she knew just a few minutes ago was spiralling out of control, her reality had suddenly shifted for the worse.

"I'm only going to give you this warning once and only once..." He paused, once again fear found her. It spoke to her in its cackling voice. It told her legs to go weak, her stomach to lurch and her heart to ache. Her mother once told her that there was nothing to fear but fear itself, but still she could not silence its voice and it was as if its voice had manifested into reality.

"Fuck off. I don't need you getting in the way of everything..." He was far from finished. His next few words never surprised her but yet in a way they did, because hearing them in reality was different, the words that she thought had finally manifested far too quickly. As her impending doom neared the corner or maybe now it had reached its destination, she didn't quite know yet, maybe there were many others.

"Because if you do, I will and when I say I will that is a promise I'm intending on keeping and there is nothing even Grayson can do to stop me. I will make the rest of your life a living Hell, far more worse than Hell itself." He had finally finished.

Her watery eyes enlarged and the hairs on the nape of her neck bristled. A gaggle of goose pimples laminated her frigid, naked skin. She tried to scream, but the inside of her mouth lacked any moisture and a croak was all that issued from her gape. It felt like a nightmare, she had to be sleeping there was no way her life was this tragic. This unfortunate. Things went so wrong so quickly and she didn't even know how? How did this all happen? Why is it happening to her? She never asked for this, never.

The trees they bend and moan in wrath enough to scare God himself, branches torn like paper limbs. But even this storm that had suddenly occurred, was far less wicked than the words of the Vampire. He was nothing like the story-book vampires: pale with overgrown canines and a dislike of garlic. He was like a regular guy, almost. Almost human, but then again looks can be deceiving.

The rain exhibited no sign to cease, the inception of the storm had only just arrived. "Such a shame really, you are truly beautiful..." She felt him get closer, too close. Titan lingered just above the nape of her neck, breathing in her scent.

"I've never tasted a werewolf's blood before, It would simply would be a waste if I didn't." And that's when she felt herself scream, the loudest she could have ever screamed before, as he slid his fangs, breaking through her flesh, taring through its barriers. Her body suddenly went livid, her breathing hitched within her throat. There was simply nothing she could to remove him off her.
