They drove back to the apartment and stepped inside with their groceries. She was thankful that George rescued her when her son missed for like 20 minutes and she was worried sick. She called Cheslea and George in a panic knowing that his son was missing.
Then, George and Jaymianne placed the groceries on the table as James sprinted towards his room and did his thing.
And as they organized the groceries, someone barged into the front door which stunned the both of them.
"Where's James!?" Cheslea shouted while looking around.
Jaymianne shook her head and walked towards her with a soda in her right hand. She smiled and gave it to her. Cheslea formed into a smile when her boss gave her favorite soda.
"He's upstairs."
"Is he fine?"
"Yes, luckily the owner of the supermarket saw him and his personnel helped my son to find me."
"What is he doing right now? You know how worried I am when you called me. You are crying sick and didn't know what to do. You really panicked."
She heaved a deep sigh and believed that she was right. She was worried sick when his son was nowhere to be found.
Her friends knew that his son was her life and if something bad happened to James, it could kill her.
"He is my life, you know that. I'm very scared when he was nowhere to be found and didn't know who else to call since I have two friends. I'm sorry Cheslea."
Cheslea shook her head and pulled her into an embrace. She kept patting her back and saying, "it's fine, Jayme. I know you really love your son so don't be sorry, okay?"
She responded with a nod and loosened the embrace. And all of a sudden, someone clearing a throat from behind.
They glanced at it and there, they saw George, who was glaring at them with his arms crossed.
"Why don't you help us organize my groceries, Cheslea? You are here after all." George asked with his annoying tone.
Cheslea, on the other hand, shrugged and just helped them to organize all the groceries. "You don't have to be grumpy, George," Cheslea mumbled while grabbing all the eggs.
"I'm not grumpy, Ches… I'm just annoyed that our friend disturbed our lovemaking a while ago!" George glared at Jayme, who was laughing at him.
He slapped her arms when seeing her laughing. Cheslea also laughed when he was very annoyed, discerning that he didn't make it into the climax.
Poor George.
"I hate both of you! And now we are having 3 rounds tonight! I need to make it up for him!"
"Okay, let's stop right there! You don't need to say that out loud! James will hear it!" Cheslea yelled and hit the back of his head.
"That hurts!" George cried out while caressing his nape.
"Sorry! Let's proceed before James, will he's one thing weird coming out from George's filthy mouth!" Cheslea uttered while protecting herself when he was about to hit her forehead.
Jaymianne just laughed at their silliness. She missed them around, those two were very busy with their life.
George was a successful entrepreneur while Cheslea was her secretary and also a writer. So they barely have moments like this.
After a few minutes, Jaymianne strolled to the living room with snacks in her hands and placed them on the living room table. She crouched in between them and signed them to get some snacks.
"You keep doing that…" Cheslea uttered.
She hummed while grabbing some homemade chocolate chip cookies. "What did I keep doing?" She asked.
"Chocolate chip cookies. You know who really loves that cookie, right?" She implored.
"Well, my son really loves my chocolate chip cookies so I always made them for him. Also, it's my hobby, cooking some desserts."
"Because he used to love your baking and that's why you kept bringing him some cookies into his work," George muttered before eating his cookies.
She sighed and leaned on the backrest of the couch. They were right, she used to bake for him since he loved her cookies. And sometimes, she thought that she was still cooking for him and it sounds crazy.
"I can't help it. My son is a copycat of his father. All his father wanted, he also likes. I don't know why, they don't even know each other." She replied.
George scratched his nape in frustration when hearing her response. He believed that even now, from what his ex-lover did to her, she was still in love with him. For him, it's extremely hard to process in his mind.
Well, what can he say… It's her first and true love.
"I… I can't say any more, Jayme. It's been… I don't know, 10 years since we left that town and still, you kept thinking about him. You don't even know where he is!" George mumbled.
"I agree with George but it's your choice when to move on… I'm reminding you, you no longer know where that man is. So please, stop… Stop thinking about him!" Cheslea added.
They were right, she needed to forget about him. She didn't know where he was or even if he was alive. For so many years of suffering without his presence, it's her time to move on and maybe…
Just maybe.
Open her heart with someone else and be happy for the sake of her son.
Suddenly, Jaymianne snapped into a reality when Cheslea opened a topic that caught her attention. She didn't perceive the reason but one thing she knew, the name sounds familiar.
"Have you heard about the CEO of Martin Enterprises?" Cheslea asked George.
"Yes, I've heard about him and they said that he came from Spain, flew to this city to manage the Martin Enterprises here." He retorted.
"Wait… So all this time, the CEO wasn't here and that's why his secretary showed up to our company?" Jaymianne asked.
"As far as I know he was in Spain but just deported last week, I think?" George replied.
"What's his name?" She implored again.
George hummed while stroking his chin, thinking about her query. Then, he answered, "I forgot his name… All I know is that it's the name of one of the Greek Gods. Ahm…. Sphinx? Yeah, I know it's Sphinx. Sphinx Martin."
'Sphinx Martin?'
