"Sphinx Martin?" She asked, striving to think where she heard that before.
Then, she remembered that her son met this man named Sphinx in the supermarket, who owned it, so there is a big chance that it's him. However, she heard it before James met this man. She couldn't figure where.
'Wait… Martin Enterprises.' She thought to herself.
"I remember where I heard that name." She mumbled while glancing at Chelsea.
Her head cocked to the side, confused from what Jaymianne said. Cheslea couldn't forecast why she was very enthusiastic about this man, Sphinx.
"Where did you hear it?" She finally implored.
She hummed and glanced at her before she responded, "well, I hear that from Mrs. Riley. Her boss is Sphinx Martin, and I sense that my son… met him in the supermarket."
"Wait… Sphinx Martin? Many staff in Martin Enterprises said that he was good-looking so if he was the one who you think your son met, then… You will meet him someday." George uttered while poking her shoulder with a creepy smile on his face.
"I don't like that smile, George."
"I know but you agreed to have a blind date by Saturday so Cheslea, cancel her appointments and meetings on Saturday." George decided for her.
She rolled her eyes at him and hit the back of his head. She was annoyed when she needed to come for this blind date even though she didn't want to. It's not because of that man but for her, having a relationship was a waste of time.
"Just agree, Jayme. It's for your son and also for you. You need to give up on him and have a better life with someone else." Cheslea mumbled while fixing her hair.
"She was right. You need to move on. We just want you to be happy with someone else, not just your son."
She took a deep breath to calm herself. She didn't even think to have a serious relationship with someone else, knowing that she had a son. What if that man didn't want to be a father to her son?
Many doubts entered and many 'what if' questions inside her head. She didn't want to force herself to have relationships with others if she had doubts.
That's a toxic relationship.
And she didn't want that. She wished for a peaceful relationship with someone she truly loves not just by force. However, half of her mind wanted to try it out for the sake of her son's happiness.
Therefore, she glimpsed at her best friends and smiled. "Okay, I will do it but please… pick someone that is willing to love me and my son."
Her best friends grinned widely, reached for her hands, and clasped them together. She thought that her best friends were very delighted when hearing her answer.
"We will do our best to find a perfect man for you." They both said in unison.
She shook her head in disbelief and snatched her hands from their grip before she stood. "I'll be back. I'm going to check on my son."
They responded with a nod before she left them in the living room. She walked upstairs and straight to her son's room. Slowly, she opened it and there, she saw her son, peacefully having a nap in his bed with their cat.
She strolled closer to him and sat on the edge of his bed. She stared at his son, who was peacefully sleeping while hugging his favorite pillow. Abruptly, she sighed in despair whenever she looked at his son's appearance.
He was much like his father, from the lining of his eyebrows until the red plump lips. It was copied by his father and none of it came from her genes. But it never came into her mind to abort his baby since it was a beautiful gift for her.
And so, she leaned closer to her son and pecked his forehead before she stood, left the room, and walked straight to the living room. She saw her best friends busy talking to each other so she sat beside them.
"How's he?" Cheslea asked.
"He was really tired from crying and playing so he was in deep sleep with my cat." She replied.
"So, are you down on Saturday so we could set some appointments with our friends of friends?" George implored with his eyes sparkled, waiting for her response.
She heaved a sigh and didn't have any choice but to agree with them. "Okay, I'll do it."
"Okay! It'll be like a speed date so you can choose whoever you want. We will set the date from our restaurant at 6 in the evening so don't be late!" George said while clapping.
"You are very enthusiastic while doing this."
"Of course, I am. All these years, this is the first time you agreed to our plan for your love life." He responded.
She shook her head in disbelief when George was very excited about this blind date. But she was giving it a shot and seeing what would happen on that speed date.
Hence, she remembered about Drake, who was in his dark and didn't even contact her to provide any reports for the materials that he was supposed to order from the trusted companies. Drake didn't even go to the office and make official reports which were very alarming to her.
So she glanced at her secretary and asked, "Cheslea, have you heard anything from Drake? They need the materials by next week."
"Next week? I thought they wanted it on Friday?" She asked.
"Well, I contacted Mrs. Riley and I told her that there will be a problem with the delivery of the supplies. Her boss gave it a consideration and made it on Monday morning. 6 in the morning, sharp." She explained.
"What should we do?" Cheslea implored.
"We need to contact Drake but if he doesn't answer our call then, we need to come to his apartment and confront him."
Then, Jaymianne looked at George, who was busy on his phone, snickering as if he was texting with his boyfriend. So, she poked his shoulder to get his attention. His head lifted to gaze at her.
"Yes?"
"You and Drake are in the same building, right? Can you help us if he was in his apartment?" Jaymianne mumbled.
George furrowed his brow and placed his phone on the table before he replied, "Drake? As far as I know, he moved into another apartment like last week."
"What?!"
"He is… I don't know where but my boyfriend will help you to locate his location. You know… my boyfriend is the police." He retorted.
She bit her lips, clenching her fist in annoyance when Drake didn't even tell that he moved to another apartment. Luckily, George's boyfriend knew how to locate someone so it'll be easy for them to know where he lived.
"We can definitely do that… Or else, we will be losing a lot of money and there was a big chance that our company will go bankrupt."
