Roselyn waked up in the morning, still tired from last night, she struggled to find the strength of getting up from her bed. Her roommate was not there since the evening before, she probably slept in someone else's room. She reached the windows and pulled the curtains away to let the rays of the sun enter the room and wake her up.
Then she reached her bed to make it when her gaze fall on her phone's display that lighten up.
An alert of notifications popped up three messages unread. Two from her mother and one from Andreas.
She opened her mother's texts with a scroll, and there were good morning texts. She smiled while she replied right back. Then she went to open Andreas' texts, even tho she could read part of the message through the preview.
Her face become pale as she read the full message. Her stomach shrank as she had shivers because of the bunch of feelings that wrap her body tight.
She couldn't figure out what was worse, the dumping her trough a message or the fact that he changed his mind after a few hours and after all she risked helping him.
She couldn't believe in what she was reading, was that really happening to her. She felt like her heart broke into a million of pieces and she could do nothing to fix it. Roselyn let someone in, and trusted a guy, for the first time felt genuine feelings about him and what did she get?
Disappointment. Not even the respect to tell straight to her face what he wanted.
From being miserable, she went to being mad so much that she could feel her anger run thought all over her body like if she could explode at any second.
"What an asshole!!"
She yelled as she scratched her fingers against her palm to realise part of her prominent anger.
She wore the first shirt and jeans she found and quickly went to do her makeup. Her plan was to arrive at school earlier than everyone and find him alone to spit out all her anger and disappointed in it.
Her fast walking reached the school in few minutes, because of the few meters that were separating both the flats.
When she arrived there, few students were already waiting for Margaret to open the school and let them in. She looked around, wondering where he might be.
There he was, talking with Margaret, sitting on a bench in the school's yard, smiling and laughing like nothing happened.
Seeing him like that made her even more irritated and unconsciously walked toward him in stomping her feet.
Once she reached them, she folded her arms, standing in front of them. Silence felt in that little table and few students were staring at her, puzzled.
"Class starts in 10 minutes. You can wait outside the building like every other's student is,"
he said with nonchalance, as if she meant nothing, making her giggle and scoff at the irritation.
"I guess you will send a message, huh?"
She stormed off to walk toward the school and glower at him from there.
He laid a hand on his forehead and massaged it for some seconds before shutting his eyes.
"I broke up with her via text. Well, we weren't even dating but yea.."
He said trying to ignore the bad vibrations that Roselyn's body was emanating and that he could feel from meters away.
Margaret gapped mouth stare in shock then giggled.
"Are you crazy? Oh God.." she said as the more she thought about it the more it was making her laugh.
Andreas rolled his eyes with annoyance and gestured with his hand to complain:
"Can you stop?"
Margaret's laughing stopped as she covered her mouth and took a long breath.
"Couldn't you tell her today?" she asked, getting up from the chair and brushing off the crumbs that fell on her dress while she was eating her croissant.
"It seemed easier to text," he scoffed thinking about the forthcoming class he had with her in few minutes, concerned about her exposing to the entire school their affair.
"Well, good luck then." Margaret waved at him goodbye as she opened the gate of Xilentia.
The students that crammed there pushed through each other to find their way in.
Andreas waved to her bye as he walked through his classroom. He entered the key in to unlock his class, then he walked in. Few students walked right after him and then Roselyn followed.
She sat at the first desk and looked at him straight in his eye. Her gaze was not angry anymore, rather disappointed and regretful. Inside of her mind were circulating millions of thoughts and wonders,
have she done something wrong?
Was he really playing her the entire time? And the more she wondered trying to dig in her mind to find a decent reason the more she was developing the idea that the real reason was also the worse to accept: he doesn't care, he never did.
And if he wasn't enough respectful to even have the decency to let her know in person, then why should she try to change things?
She swallowed as her throat dried up. Roselyn couldn't stand the eye contact any longer or else she would end up crying in front of the entire school. His gaze went to check if everyone was present in class, and when he realized nobody was missing, he walked to close the door.
His hands went to dig in his suitcase in the search of his notes to begin his lesson.
For the whole lesson he barely caught Roselyn's gaze, also because she was laying her head on her arms on the desk and keeping a blank stare.
He usually scolded people for not paying attention at the lesson, but he didn't feel like rub in her pain.
When the lesson finished, she was the first one to leave and walked away as if she had a very important imminent commission to do.
And just like that, from almost lovers to complete strangers, they took a different path in both directions and life. To her next classroom Roselyn walked, like if someone ripped her heart off, leaving her unable to feel any emotion, not anger, nor sadness. She felt completely empty from emotions and desires; it was like she unintentionally shut down her life and she had no intention of turning it back on.
