"the most powerful empath"
Amren pov
"You may want to sit down, this is quite a mouthful."
I stood there nervously twisting my hair around my fingers watching him searching for a comfy place to sit down. He found a large rock sticking out of the eart with a comfy flat top. The forest seems to be the safest place to tell him, for the forest is my ally.
The trees stood in a small circle around us, guarding us from the outside world.
Where to begin...will he be mad? What if i lose him permanently? What if...
He interrupted my train of thought with a subtle cough. His eyes were gentle, encouraging and curious.
"I...i....I'm a heyoka. The most powerful empath in my family, well other than my mom. I also have a reversed version of my late dad's gift. He could see the future, i can see the past. These gifts have been with me since birth but i only started using them a few years ago. They are not decended from evil, if that's why you're frowning? "
A deep v has set between his brows. I can feel the curiosity and wonder radiating from him.
"i was not at all concerned about you being evil, that's impossible."
He stood up from the rock and walked until he stood millimeters away from me. So close i could see the tiny pores on his skin.
"The thing that you did, holding my chin and staring intensely into my soul. That's how you are able to see what happened? "
His eyes bored into mime once again.
I nodded my head yes, too distracted by his closeness to foem coherent words.
"...and what is a hyoka, hookah? "
I had to chuckle
"Heyoka. You get different kinds of empaths. You know? People who show empathy. We do more than just show it. We feel other people's emotions, their auras, detect lies. We have the ability to shift the mood in a room if we want to. Everything you feel, i feel. But i have to be close to you to know that something is amiss or when you're happy etc. "
All of this was making me nauseous.
"Your explanation is still a bit vague."
"it's hard to explain. My ancestors were shamans. A shaman is derived from the Siberian Tugusic word for 'spiritual leader'. In short, they were Native Americans with the power to connect with soul, mind and the universe. Each generation of Natives had special 'gifts' passed on from their parents and grand parents. Does that answer your question? "
"No wonder i thought you were indian or Native American at one stage." he chuckled, a real heartfelt chuckle.
"Don't you think I'm weird, or a freak or something? "
"Humour me. Ams, I've adored you since the moment i laid my eyes on you. I knew something about you was different, i just didn't know what. Over the years i started to like you. You really have grown on me."
I didn't know what to say
"thanks bro, i like you too." i flashed him the widest, most awkward smile i possibly could. He just stood there, breathing, calm. His pupils were dilated, he didn't seem to notice my awkward vibe.
"No Amren, i mean I Really REALLY like you."
He cupped my face in his hand and angled my head toward his. The space between us was decreasing rapidly. His voice had softened to a breathless whisper.
"I've waited for so long to find the perfect moment to tell you. And this might not be the ideal moment, but i can't keep on wasting time waiting for the 'perfect' moment to drop by. I'm extremely lucky that some other guy hasn't swept you off your feet yet. I like you, always have and always will."
With those words dancing around in the open, he leaned even closer and kissed me.
