Getting into his house, the first thing he does was to head straight to his wine cabinet where he took a scotch chugging it into his mouth straight from the bottle reveling in the sting he got from it cos it suits his current mood. He was trying to numb the pain he feels from seeing her after nine years.
God! the pain he felt seeing her can not be comprehended or explain...
Remembering the hurts she had done him when she betrayed him and tossed him aside without a moment notice.......
The humiliation he had received from fighting for someone who wasn't worth it.
She has made him wish for death at that time.
Only God knows how he was able to get over everything at the end but seeing her today made him realized that he wasn't truly over it at all cos the pain was still there as if everything that occurred between them had happened yesterday.
"Antonio,why did you leave in a hurry?," Bucho asked him, immediately he got inside the sitting room.
" You know why", he replied angrily as he stood up and started pacing up and down the room.
" Because of Bettina?", Bucho asked surprised at him," That was nine years ago dude, I thought you have gotten over her", he said bewildered by Antonio's action and shaking his head slowly.
" Gotten over?, Gotten over her?", Antonio asked angrily now facing him.
"How do you expect me to forget about someone who betrayed me so easily?", He asked him as he sat down on a stool close to the wine cabinet and took another swing from the bottle, then inhaled and exhale sharply his behavior clearly depicting someone who is agitated.
" Someone who claimed to love me but in the face of crisis left me to suffer and I would have probably rot in jail if not that the truth was discovered", he said thinking about the past makes him angry thinking about how fickle her love for him was.
All she was about was herself and she never cared about him.
"I know it hurts dude, I was there too remember", bucho said to him as he put his hands on his shoulder trying to comfort him.
Bucho had witness everything and he knows how hurts his best friend had been from her betrayal even when he had left jail, it had taken him weeks before he could get over it but from what he can see, he can say he is not really over her just tried to suppress what he felt from the incident inside.
" Do you know why I came back?", He asked him turning to face him and jolting him back to the presence.
" Do you need a reason to? This is your town and there is no place like home " bucho replied.
"I came back for revenge against her and her husband Andres for the wrong they did me" he told him his head low and his thoughts far thinking about past events.
"If Andres was alive he probably would be scared to death immediately he hears you are back in town because he is not worth your finger now", bucho told him as he sat down weakly shock from what he had just heard about Antonio wanting revenge.
" What do you mean if Andres was alive?", he asked he asked him raising his head to look at his face with surprise written all over his own.
"Yes, he is dead",he told him hoping inwardly that this might let him let go of Bettina as she wasn't really living a good life from everything he had seen all this years.
"Really? So she is a widow? ..When?", He asked him.
" Seven years ago", he replied him looking at his face trying to gauge his reactions to what he is saying. The he continued " She is not living a good life, Andre left her with nothing", he told him.
Antonio was so stun by this news he just heard that he became quite and only replied Bucho absent mindedly when he said he was going back to work.
She is a widow Bucho had said to him and her husband left her with nothing too.
"Was this karma", he thought thinking back to the things she had done to him in the past.
All this years, he had been imagining her with Andres being happy and having the best lives probably having kids. while he had worked hard to ensure he made money because his plan was that he will come back to destroy them and everything they hold dearly.
Before now,he had never asked about them from bucho trying to avoid the news cos he couldn't deal with the pain of hearing anything that has to do with them not knowing that Andres his worst enemy was already gone and he left her destitute.
" Fine, Andres is dead but that doesn't mean she was too", he thought.
He remembered the look on her face when she had seen him...
The surprise, shock and fear...
"Good very good at least she knows to fear him cos she was done for and if Andres was alive it would have been one hell of a party for the both of them for what he have in stock for them",he thoughts.
Since he was dead, he should count himself lucky because he would have made his life a living hell but for Bettina he plans to deal with her.
Since she works for him, he will ask her to leave or make her suffer so much that she will hate herself.
"She can't be earning money from me after all she has done", he thought angrily while trying to come up with ways to deal with her.
He plans to make her pay for everything she has done to him. For every humiliation, shame,pain and tears he had shed because of her till she wish she was dead and rue the day she had hurt him.
