Mona Lisa POV
I woke up so early and decided to take my bath and dress up myself, Maddie hasn't arrived yet and neither has Laura, I went downstairs everybody was doing one thing or the other so I just sat on the dinner table waiting on my breakfast not so long I was served toast bread and milk I love to keep things simple.
About thirty minutes after I had taken my breakfast Maddie walked in and so did Laura, she had on her a white shirt with black dots on them and a pencil skirt which fitted her perfectly, I sighed in relief.
"It's about time, you know you two must learn to be on time" I said as I got up, "let's leave I have pending matters to attend to."
We got to the office, Maddie came out from the first car her and Laura were in and walked over to my car to open the door, to be sincere I hate sharing a lots of things.
I was greeted by the receptionist and anybody that walks past us. "Laura first things first I don't enter elevators with people so you should go in first with Maddie" I told her as she was hesitant to enter the elevator without me Maddie on the other hand was anxious, they both got in. I waited for my turn when it's finally came down I got in waiting for the door to close that's when a hand stopped the door from closing, the door opened widely to show a handsome man about 6'3 ft tall.
He got in and pressed 23 I looked at him but when he looked back I turned, I couldn't stand the presence of someone else that isn't me in the elevator. He checked me out and made a comment "Dressed for a funeral hun..... so tell me whose is it?". I believe he intended to make me laugh.
"It will be yours if care isn't taken" I thought to myself.
He kept on looking at me waiting for an answer when I didn't answer he shrugged and said "Am Luke by the way" he brought his hand for me to shake I still didn't respond but he kept on staring that's when the elevator stopped he got off giving me a last smile then walked off, I sighed in relief cause I couldn't stand his behavior it's somewhat unusual to me.
I was in my office with my head face down fully focused on the document in front of me, there was a slight knock on the door "come in" I said still focused on the document, "Miss Moore, Mr Santiago would like to speak to you" Maddie said.
"It's would be about the thing we were discussing last week, let him in" I said as I grabbed my mirror to check on my make up.
A while later the door creaked open and there he was Mr Santiago one of my late husband's friends, "Mr Santiago" I said as I stood up to welcome him.
"Miss Moore I have something important to say"
"Hope no problem" I asked feeling concerned.
"None at all, Just wanted to say that I'll be retiring...." he said smiling. I was happy and also disappointed.
"what will happen to the business you propose to me about, you know we've come a long way."
"I know I've thought about that so I decided to suggest my son takes my place".
"Mr Santiago he has no idea what we have done for a long time, I don't think he can handle it." I said acting all defensive.
"Give it a try Miss Moore I plead with you". he begged
"Fine then I'll meet your son tomorrow but we still have to talk about this okay".
"Why not meet him now, hold on" he walked over to door and brought in the same man I saw on the elevator.
"Miss Moore meet my son Luke" Santiago introduce.
Luke couldn't stop staring so I brought out my hand to shake his "like your father said am Miss Moore and it's nice to meet Mr Santiago's son" I said with my hand hanging on the air waiting for him to shake.
"So you can talk!!!" He said looking straight into my eyes, I was really startled was he expecting me not to talk.
"pardon" finally withdrawing my unshaked hands.
"You two know each other" Mr Santiago asked confused.
"At the elevator she was the girl I was referring to, the one dressed for a funeral". he laughed, which was still not funny to me.
"First of all am not a girl, secondly as you can hear I can speak, thirdly you must refer to me as Miss Moore" I was beyond irritated.
"This has been one awkward moment, I'll leave you two to talk more" Mr Santiago left while I went back to my seat "Have a seat Mr Luke." I didn't know if I should call him Mr Santiago as well.
"Just call me Luke" he said smiling humourously.
"Mr Luke seems fine to me" I replied keeping a straight face.
"Whatever suits you, it's fine by me, seems like we are getting on pretty well". he said smiling.
"I really don't think so Mr Luke, anyways I'll just brief you on the project maybe you can catch up".
"Try me", I looked at him then started speed talking not giving space for me to breathe I spoke for about ten minutes straight before I paused to catch my breathe, "so tell me what do you think about the project?" I asked waiting for an answer which am hoping he won't be able to give me.
"It's great, the fact that the company wants to return back to the public by building schools, parks and University I believe the public would be grateful."he answered
"I must say am really impressed" I lied, how would I be impressed?, I also wonder how he was able to catch on.
"Here take this" I offered him a document which contains everything he needed to know about the project.
"What's it's about?" he asked,
I sighed, "why don't you take a look at your office right now am really busy and also come to my office we'll talk more about it".
"Then it's a date?" he said raising an eyebrow up.
"What is?, And besides you are not my type" I replied defensively
"What's your type?", before I could reply Laura walks in and said "Miss Moore the car is ready to take you to the conference center".
"Tell the driver I'll be down in a minute he should be on standby okay"
"Okay Miss" she bows and leaves the office.
"I guess I should take my leave" Luke stood up and winks at me then leaves.
