Chapter 10 - Day 2

I could feel myself being dragged out of the tent.

"What the hell?" I say.

"This was the only way to get you to wake up." I heard in response. It was Violet.

"I was thinking we should make some weapons and watch the sunrise."

"Yeah, sure. It's not like I was doing anything better." I say staring at her sarcastically.

"Well sorry sleepyhead," She says mockingly. "I just thought you'd maybe like to do something useful and watch the beautiful sunrise."

"Yeah yeah, let's get started."

We sat propped up outside of the tent, all our tools needed sitting on a log right beside us. I got to work.

"Everyone get down and hide!" Whispered Violet in a hushed but frantic tone. "We've been ambushed!"

Everyone in our division rushed to safety. I was pulling Violet by the arm and Akira was quickly following behind.

"I can walk by myself you know," says Violet, trying to escape from my grasp.

"There's no time! We gotta go.!" I say.

We ducked under the nearest tree behind a large boulder that was placed there. Akira soon followed with a makeshift knife and bow and arrow.

"Here, take the knife. I mastered Archery back at home. I've also heard that you've done something with a katana- this is similar, you should be fine." Akira said while handing the knife to me.

"Alright, what's the next move?" Violet asks in a hushed tone.

Akira and Violet simultaneously look at me.

"Okay okay, uh, look..! They're distracted, by the other division, let's make a run for it.!" I grabbed Violets hand again and began to run back to the tent.

"Look! There they go!" We heard someone shout in the distance.

Suddenly there was a loud thud from behind us. It was Akira. She had tripped and fell.

"Go on and keep running, I've got her. Go back to the tent and get help." I say as I drop Violet's hand and quickly rush to Akira's side, helping her to her feet.

Violet continues to run back to the tent.

The other division still on our trail I pick up Akira and put her on my back. I run as fast as a person with the body weight of two teen females.

I run close to the ocean shore behind some boulders and place Akira down on a large rock to rest.

I take a look at her leg for the first time and realize that she had been shot in the foot with an arrow.

We didn't bring any supplies so I took off my shirt and ripped it into different pieces.

I grabbed one piece and dipped it in ocean water, I used it to clean around the wound as best I could.

I used another piece of the shirt to dry around the wound. Another piece to cover the wound and the last piece to wrap over and around it.

I could still hear footsteps, although we still had weapons, we didn't dare move from that spot.

***

I could hear people calling my name in the dead of night. They were relentless. I wanted to make a run for it, but Akira wasn't in the right state for that. We decided to sleep there for the night and try to make it back to the tent in the morning.

Soon the shouts had stopped and we drifted to sleep.
