(A couple hours ago)
Chris and I stand by the door, silently waiting for action or any movement. We don't have superhuman hearing like the werewolves in this mansion, so we have to be extra careful.
We hear footsteps heading our way and we prepare. Chris signals that I can have the first one and she'll be behind me.
The door swings open and I see the nurse from earlier. Her words about my baby runs through my head and I can't help but target her neck and watch her bleed out instead of giving her a fast death.
She gargles on her blood, not being able to scream because I cut her vocal cords. The first coat of blood I'll be spilling today and we're nowhere near done.
Two rogues come up from the stairs and when they round the corner, they're blasted into pieces by Chris. Their blood paints the walls around us like art, but one of them let out a scream before they died and it signaled the other rogues in the house.
"Shit! There's no escaping now. We're going to have to fight them all off and we have no idea how many of them are in here," Chris says. There was no telling how long she would be able to fight off these wolves before she becomes tired.
"If you see a way out, you run," I tell her. I'm the one who came up with this stakeout and got us caught, but no matter what, we're both getting out of here. Not for my sake, but for the babies sake.
"I'm not leaving here without you. We're walking out of here together." I don't get to argue with her because the first set of rouges came into view.
Their red eyes focused on us and they rush towards us with a hunger for blood. Everything moves in slow motion and all my years of training comes back to me.
One rouge lunges towards me, midway into transformation into their wolf, but I bring my leg up and kick them in the chest. The force throws them to a wall, successfully rattling the rouges brain and knocking them out.
Chris sends a surge of energy towards the rogues still coming up the stairs, and one by one, they all fall in a domino like affect, sending a river of blood spilling down the steps.
My stomach twists at the smell of the foul blood and I tell my baby to hold on for just a while more. Chris runs down the stairs and I follow behind her.
A rouge we didn't see grabs onto Chris' arm, digging into it. Chris places her hand onto the rouges. I can feel heat radiate off of her and her hand burns the rouge's hand to a crisp, making them scream in horror.
"Anne, go find Markus,"Chris yells to me. I know she can handle the rest of the pack and I run off to find Markus. Running through the levels of the pack house, I kill off any rouge that comes in my path.
I can't find Markus anywhere and I feel like he's purposely hiding. Who ever is controlling him is making me run in circles trying to find him. I'm aggravated and so fucking hungry. I want to go home and eat the whole fridge and just rest.
My body isn't built for all this combat fighting anymore and I can't keeping risking myself at the cost of my baby.
I'm already feeling sore and I just want to pass out. I force hits me in the back, knocking my weapons out of my hands and it surprises me. Someones pressing me against a wall and I try to catch my breath after the painful force knocked it out.
"I bet you wish you stayed out of this now?" Markus darkly whispers in my ear and I don't hesitates to slide down to the ground and slip away from his grip.
"Your a coward, hiding behind innocent people," I yell to the voice controlling Markus. I don't want to hurt Markus. He's a kind person, he doesn't use his powerful position for malicious reasons, and I wouldn't be able to look Gio in the face ever again if I were to kill his father. I don't want Gio to go through the same pain of losing a parent you love like I did.
I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone.
A cold laughter bubbles from Markus' guts and out his mouth. His eyes sparkle with sin.
"Don't act like you know everything. Let's skip all this trying to bring down my ego to distract me act." Markus produces a gun from his waist band and points it at me, ready to shoot.
He sends out the first bullet, but I easily move away from it.
"You missed," I tell him with a smile. It seems to aggravate him and he shoots out a round of bullets. I dodge each one with simple movements.
I see a figure moving in the distance and Chris comes into view. I see her about to be lunged on and it distracts me. A bullet hits me in the knee and I fall to the ground, howling in pain. I don't get see if Chris his hurt or not.
"Finally. I can kill this arrogant bitch," Markus growls out. I hear him pull out a sword and I know it's Dragon's Blood. He kicks me in the knee he shot me in and an animalistic scream and whimper leaves my mouth.
He flips me on my back so I can see him and he raises Dragons Blood. I try to cover my stomach as much as I can to protect my baby. The sword comes down fast, but before it can make contact with me, Chris comes out of nowhere and blocks it with her own sword.
I know that Chris isn't the best with swords, so it's only a matter of time before he strikes her down. While he's distracted I brag one of the swords I had with me earlier that got knocked out of my hands off the ground and try my hardest to get up.
As I come closer, he knocks Chris down to the ground. When he turns around, I strike him straight through the heart and watch his eyes grow in shock at the metal that has penetrated him.
He falls to his knees, slowly losing his body functions. Markus' eyes turn back to blue and a tear falls out of my eye as I watch the real Markus die.
His lifeless body falls limply to the ground and I pull the sword out of his chest. I hear a whimper come from Chris. Chris cries loudly while I stay silent.
What have I done?
Tears fall out of my eyes and I cry silently.
"They won. Again," Chris yells out. Her yell sends a pang through my heart. "This can't keep happening. We can't let them win again and kill more innocent people."
We both sit by Markus' dead body, mourning our dead friend.
"No. This isn't happening again," Chris says again, now with more determination. "Your going to go find that witch," she tells me.
"Chris. I won't be seeing the light of day after this. I just killed someone on the higher court. They'll lock me up and my baby and I will be doomed to torture."
"That's only more reason for you to run and go find the witch who did this to him. The one that got my mother killed. You find evidence and you show the court he was being controlled. If you don't run and find out everything that's going on, Markus would have died for nothing."
